A Christmas Miracle... Here is a compilation of some of the press stories that were broadcast during December of 1987 when "Dear Mr. Jesus" became a nationwide Top-40 hit.
This song has been such a large presence in my life as I was the little girl crying out for help which never came until I was 17, and after I attempted suicide several times. I now am an adoptive parent and try my hardest to help those in need.
I remember this song in music class in school. I tried to cry out for help to but i had nowhere to turn to but jesus i cried when i hear this song i suffer from chronic PTSD and anxiety from the truma and abuse i went through i thought about ending my life until Jesus came and saved me and i thank him for that ..
Hi Robin, So sorry you had to suffer from abuse, you never deserved. I pray Jesus lifts your PTSD from you and casts it to the depths of the ocean in a final act of Healing for you. I'm so glad you are still here to tell your story and receive Grace from our King. May He bless you richly, warrior. Richard
Omg, I remember this song. I was a victim of child abuse as well as sibling abuse. My mom use to hit me and let my brothers and sisters hit me. I was made fun up, locked in attics, basements, forced to clean my moms house everyday. I wasn’t aloud to have friends, look at anyone etc. I was told if I told anyone I would be taken away. I have my own children and I would never ever hurt my kids. I fight for them everyday and they are 14 & 26. I cry still hearing this song..
Hi Melissa, I'm so sorry you had to endure child abuse yourself. Glad you enjoyed "Dear Mr. Jesus" and that you have effectively stopped the chain of abuse in your own family. God bless. you... RK
I heard this during a time when I was dealing with my own abuse history. I was able to speak to Sharon’s mother and it helped to heal some of the pain.
I remember seeing parts of the video on a commercial when I was a kid. I always wondered what the girl was scared of, since I didn’t buy the record or video. Sadly, this is still happening in the world today.
I recall first hearing "Dear Mr. Jesus" around the Christmas season of 1987....It came and went off the radio airwaves pretty fast, but it has forever held a special place in my heart...not too many people remember the song when I mention it....and i'm speaking of kids my own age (ok now middle aged kids...LOL).... but i'm confident you could release this song today and it would break into the Hot 100
I just happened to be sitting here and this song came into my spirit. I remembered it being around Christmas too. 😭😭😭 Here it is November 2021 and it said even more relevant than ever. Let's share it every where to bring attention.
I was a second grader on Christmas vacation when this song came out. I was struck by how stark and depressing it was, compared to the ubiquitous upbeat Christmas music. I always hated school breaks because I was home alone with my abuser so much. 35 years later, hearing this song makes me feel sick to my stomach. As a teacher, I see child abuse and neglect often. It's so disheartening and infuriating.
I could never hear this enough. This song needs to be played more often. Especially when this song would hit so many people and maybe more children would be saved from the abuse that they are so scared to admit to
@@JennyJeong425 Jenny, I agree with you that it is so disheartening to see ongoing abuse... it hurts us all, for sure. I'm especially sorry you had to suffer abuse yourself... I'm sure these days, as a teacher, your compassion makes each day a little better for your students. Many blessings to you...
My daughter at the time was 28 , and I ordered the whole record or tape , I don’t really remember , but it dollars was so sad and I asked her if for some reason she 870wanted it. She works with disabled children, and one on one In home. One of her clients parent was hurting the child. My daughter loved and still loves this song. Also little Rebel. I would love to get this again for her if available. Thank You so much !!❤
Hi Antoinette, Sorry for the delay... just got your nice comment. We appreciate you and your daughter... You can still get a copy of the "Shelter from the Storm" CD if you like. It's available on the www.Songtracker.com Store. ST
Referring to this song a "hit" was a bad choice. Seriously, though, I remember seeing this video on television as a child. The last part when the girl sings "Please don't tell my daddy that my mum hits me too" made my stomach hurt. If my father had known the kind of thing my mother did to me when he was out of the house, he would have taken me across the country. I've been a teacher since 2008. The first time I saw a child wearing a long-sleeved shirt in the summertime made me throw up. You have to report it, but you hear about the abuse that is so rampant in foster homes. Sometimes, it's more dangerous to be in a foster home than to remain with the original abusers. The whole situation is a living nightmare.
Jenny... just got your comment. I'm so sorry you had to suffer through child abuse yourself and glad to hear your father was supportive. Thanks for your valid comments on "Dear Mr Jesus". God bless you. RK
Why didn't you play the song at the end? You cut it off. You didn't share the full message! Too many children worldwide are being abused daily. Spread the this message help.stop the abuse !!!! 🕊🕊🕊🕊🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🌎🌍🌏😭😭😭😭

Blessing blessings
And she is now 12 years old ❤️
Keep playing it.
I just discovered this song from a clip I seen on TikTok of it. I wonder how this girl who is now a grown woman, is doing in life today.
Sharon seems to be doing quite well these days... she has become a successful fashion image consultant. Thx for asking...
