      What is in a name? If I had to pick one, it would be my initials, along the lines of Native American naming conventions. Such as, _Odee Shin Barker._ Or _Odee Barks Shin._ Think about what Garfield's buddy is always doing. 💯👍💪
      Music has always been a part of my life, too. If I had to pick one to work out to, it would be from one of the many epic soundtracks from film. *_Deacon's Speech,_* from Waterworld, or *_Evergreen,_* Extended cut by 2 Steps from Hell, would be my warmup. The real fun comes when you try to keep up with the energy in Thomas Bergersen's *_That's A Wrap_* linked below.

    Words of wisdom from Master Joe.... “The best cane in the world is the one that is with you when you need it!” Combat cane spinning uses power, speed, accuracy, and fluid movement to create a powerful form of kinetic self defense. Even better is that it promotes, agility, dexterity, and burns calories while you building confidence and having fun!

    My Octagonal Heavy has been all over the world with me. I prefer it’s harmless appearance over the heavily carved canes.

    I would add a couple of items that all trainees will find useful if they use wooden canes as most of us do: sandpaper & mineral oil. Smooth out those dings & oil your cane at least once a year so it doesn't dry out.

    Seems like the cane would really benefit someone who also conceal carries a pistol. Can create distance when caught off guard. Great combo. What do you think?

      Thank you for commenting and your inquiry Regular Guy! - YES, it's one of the first concepts we teach in ACSD's Cane & Carry course at the HQ. All the advantages the Cane offers for self protection requires training. Training remains the real equalizer.

    I've been known as the bulldog long since my young days as a golden gloves boxer. I'm going invest in the foam padded canes and head wear.

    Training heavy, gives you speed with the lighter weight. It's like boxing with 5 pound weights on your wrists, for an hour. Take them off, and you're much faster the next sparring round. 💯👍💪

      True, with the following reservation: with new students who are weak for any reason--old, frail, small, or recovering from injuries--I recommend starting with a lighter stick & training slowly until wrist & forearm strength are sufficient to move up in weight & speed without the risk of strain.

    My cane is crozy the black roc and she's there for my defense and my personal body guardian when I'm getting surrounded by street people that might be drug addicts etc so I carry my black lady with me everyday.

    What’s up with the glove?

    • @AmericanCaneSelfDefense
      @AmericanCaneSelfDefense  4 года назад +3

      Thanks for the question Jeff! For many if not most most Caners, Spinning inevitably creates friction and stress spots which can lead to blisters and callouses. Gloves eliminate that issue. Some Caners report better grip for maneuverability. Others wear for the Cool factor ;) While gloves have become part of the Caner culture, for Spinning in particular, it does take getting used to. Stay Safe!
