If you haven’t heard anything from Tarja's solo career nor seen any live performances from her solo career, you definitely should do that😊 especially from her later albums, In the Raw and Shadow Self. You can hear better how much her voice has grown and she actually uses a lot of chest voice compared to when she sang in Nightwish. Like you said, you could hear those elements in this performance.
And I agree, that switching with those tones that Tarja does, does make her quite unique.

I was there, it was a small stage here in switzerland and I think that contributed quite something to the air of fun and enjoyment they had together. But yes we were all kinda dying out there.
Tarja is actually my favourite artist to see life because she always had so much fun, you can just see how much she loves being on stage. She seems so natural and expressive!
She does seem to have so much fun. I would really like to see her live one day!
Well.. I did see her live once actually. But it was a different kind of concert. I mean, her perform her own music with a band etc.
This was last minute and totally raw plus shot on a phone, of course it isn't perfect but it is full of emotion and I LOVE it!!!!!
On Magenta Music website there's Tarja's Wacken set from last year.
She gets emotional about returning to Wacken after a lot of years.
Dead Promises is now my favourite Tarja song because of that Wacken set.
Their voices truly are magical together. It's so good to see them perform together again, and so obviously having fun with it too. I know they already reunited once five years ago for a Christmas concert but this particular song brings back so many memories as they get to sing once again together their "strange duet".
Thanks for your great reaction! Both of them were so full with emotions that their voices got a bit 'lost'. The rest of their own shows their voices sounded great, as always. But anyways, this song wasn't about hitting high notes. The fact that they did this again after 18 years shows that everything is possible. Sooooo nice!!! 😃🤗😆
It's less professional almost 'sloppy'at times , I dunno, but I'm missing 'the magic'. But, great to see they have fun together .
It wasn't planned. They're performing at a castle so I'm sure next time it will be rehearsed.
@@NeeceLoneWolf Tarja performed Phantom on her last tour in Finland. A bit Floor like with a local tenor. So she had no excuse for her pitchiness and lack of breath control.

Thanks for this (as always) very good analysis ! I can't agree more when you explained how well they voices blend and also I love how accurate you are when you talk about Tarja's voice ! Yes she has a classical background but she is not stuck on that and she built her own sound. I think she is one of these singer which really can afford classical singing but she feels free to change her sound if the music needs it and that's also why her voice is so spécial and unique 🔥

I'm sorry but floor and Henk isn't even as good as this version. Floor is an amazing belt singer, great chest voice, but her head voice is weak.
And they sing the wrong parts at points in the song.

@robvn2365 @robvn2365 yup, wasn't her best. Then again it was a thrown together thing with no rehearsal. For a song that you need to prepare for. Floor's head voice on the other hand is always hollow. Just not her strength at all. Though as I said amazing chest voice.

Não é, obviamente, uma performance ruim, mas também longe de ser das melhores. A voz dela mudou bastante, mas ao meu ver, não para melhor. Ela precisa ter melhor controle da respiração, o momento final oooooooooo aaaaa aaaaw ficou bem estranho também (tipo um cão poodle com ataque de coração a-a-a-a auuu 05:38 (3x)... Mas é legal assistir novamente eles tocando juntos.

I love Marco en Tarja but this version was really bad, the band was not good, and i think both Marco and Tarja sounded off. Sorry but this was not good
Nothing against Tarja (and / or Marco), but imo Floor and Henk Poort did a much better job in both Beste Zangers and in the Ziggo Dome. Floor keeps the last note way longer and higher, so I agree: this wasn't so good :(
@@SportivaItalia Even at the Metallica gig while being really pregnant she kept that note. Tarja never keeps the note that long.
@@SportivaItalia you didn't really wan't to compare the sound of a professional TV recording of Floor with an equalized cellphone video of Tarja to compare the voices. OK, Floor keeps the last note on Beste Zangers one second longer, but Tarja's beginning in this video was much more soulful and emotional then Floors beginning. The recording of this video was on a little festival in Swizerland. Tarja was the headliner and has to play a full concert after this song. Why should she strain her voice right at the beginning. Marco has played a full concert before this song, so his voice was a little bit hoarse. Here the emotional part was the main part.

If you don't like her, don't listen to her. If you always interested to Tarja, come back to the facts. In other songs, for example "Supremacy", Tarja keeps higher notes ten seconds and longer. Also in her classical Concerts. Traja's voice today is better than it ever was. Visit her concerts and you know what i mean.
@@AndreasLingelmann No she doesn't and you know it. There is a reason why she doesn't cut it in the classical world and has to stay in metal even though she doesn't like it. If have seen Tarja in Nightwish and solo. Be honest, she doesn't sound that good live. And it's not a matter of singing higher, it's liking a voice or not. Tarja has not an appealing chest voice.

I didn't like it. Can't stand Tarja's horrible accent when she sings live. And once you hear the quacking, you can not unhear it. :) No breath control at all and WTF was that last note?
