He did switch from “Number One” to “Scotch (Butterscotch)” First time I even noticed! He was wearing matching AA rings, I think. He was married until 1986, or at least that was the end of his relationship with his wife, Lenny. Check out the song he wrote for after she got him a guitar he really wanted. “Lenny” from the El Mocambo performance is exquisite! He met and feel in love with a young lady from Nee Zealand right before he got clean and sober in 1986. Her name is Janna, and they were together, and eventually engaged, during his last four years on earth. ❤Donna G
Great song!!! Tommy Shannon is on bass and Chris Layton on drums. Chris Layton plays for Kenny Wayne Shepperd, Such a great band! Tommy Shannon played with Johnny Winters at woodstock! Reese plays for Joe Bonamassa! Love them!
Yeah I love that song that was really good everything about it. Really fit my ear well. Hey thank you for that info I do appreciate you taking the time.
You need to search for a different video of this song (same show). The audio is really bad. There’s a much better video out there that allows you to actually hear Reese’s keyboard solo.
I would recommend "Ain't Gone 'n' Give Up on Love" from his performance at the Capitol Theatre in 1985 (in New Jersey somewhere)..Actually any song from that concert is absolutely mind blowing and the audio quality is pretty good.
Yeah, the first guitar is his old 1959 Stratocaster. He did not break a string on this song, but he does break a string on it during another song on this particular night. Check out Look at Little Sister from this same concert.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was engaged to be married to Janna Lapidus when he died. They had an apartment in New York and lived in Dallas as well. SRV had met Janna when he was still married and using drugs and drinking, although he wasn’t taking calls from Lenny (hear the song) and Janna was very young, 16 or 17, when they met. Janna flew to London when he had finally had too much (alcohol and cocaine consumption)-he wanted his Mother and Janna by his side, and she stayed with him, although not literally, as he got sober. So SRV was very much in love when he died-they were going to have children together. Somehow he had been divorced without his attorney telling him to write a will, hence everything just went to his brother Jimmy Vaughan. Janna had to go to their house in Dallas and be presented with all of their belongings divided up as if she were getting a divorce, even their matching bicycles where divided. Jimmy did NOT make it easy on her, and of course you know that Stevie died in a terrible helicopter crash.
Hi Jeff! Not 100% sure if you will like my suggestion but I think you might which is Alabama Shakes song "Hold On". SRV grandparents were sharecroppers! His father abused alcohol and died just 4 years before SRV! I don't know why adversity gives us the best most talented people just to lose them way to early!🤠🤠🤠
Thanks for that insight. I did not know. Interesting, but sad. Got the Shakes "Hold On' on the list. You gave me a great Idea. Thank you and hello from Missouri.
Not sure,, but I will go look now and see what's up. I will work in another in the mean time. Any suggestions that I have not checked out in last couple months since 1st song. Thank you kindly. I will get that sound issue fixed. I appreciate your good manner of communicating. Take care.
RIP SRV ❤ Thank you for the best music of my generation! 🤠🤠🤠
This is Badass. My favorite SRV so far. FIRE. This band is tight. SO DAMN GOOD at what they do.
I miss Stevie so bad.

Some really great iconic names that perform together! I love all the collabs!

Doesn't get any better than that!
Agreed that was fire

If you did not see Texas flood live at El mocambo you did not see the best of Stevie Ray Vaughan!
I did a couple of months ago. I have it up on my channel.
The 'older' guitar is' No. 1', 'His first wife'.
If you loved this then you just have to see his cover of Purple Haze it's just brilliant.

Both Stevie and his father died on the same date- Aug.27th, 4 yrs. apart.
@@claireburling8547 I didn't know about the exact same day! Life is ironic and thank you for sharing that detail!
He was married at some time to a woman named Lenny....check out his song ' "Lenny " live at el macambo
Thanks, I will give it a go for sure. Lenny it is. Take care
Ask and you shall receive
Tommy Shannon on Bass and Chris Laton on Drums.
he couldn't have had better backup than these 3 guys
I couldn't hear Resse's solo on your video. Is it possible that only one channel made it through? Maybe L, or R only??

You are missing the best part of the show by having your eyes closed.
