Stevie said his mother had dominoes games at their house when he was young, that the Texas Playboys were regulars at the games, and that his first public performance was with his brother Jimmie for the Texas Playboys at their house, and a photo of it is on the back of the ‘Family Style’ album. He was 7 or thereabouts.
Double Trouble was such a tight band. The drummer Chris Layton, keyboardist Reese Wynans, and bassist Tommy Shannon followed SRV's every move because they knew he never played a song the same way twice. Great support. And Stevie Ray so respected the musicianship of each of the fellows. They were all close friends. It definitely was mutual respect. SRV was as humble as he was talented. Even though he was the featured draw, he always insisted the band name be included on the billing whatever venue they played, no matter what. He also always introduced each member to the audience during a gig, and always insisted on each one of the band members drawing an equal share with him of the money earned.
"Stevie Ray Vaughan with Lonnie Mack - Oreo Cookie Blues" my mom was a sugar-holic later in her life and she loved this song. I loved listening to her sing it and laughed along with her as I sang along. RIP: SRV ❤️ 🤗🎶🎸🔥
FYI Stevie played with 13 guage strings and still was able to stretch them to break. He and his brother play a song together that is greatness. its name is pipeline. Please for your oun sake check it out.
Stevie split performance fees equally cuz he was cool like that. Tommy Shannon, the bassist, is a top tier veteran. He played at Woodstock and with Johnny Winter. He and the drummer are a first class rythm section good enough to play behind anyone or with any band. Same goes for the keyboardist. As for swag, those were Stevies street clothes too. He always dressed like that. Tommy, the bassist, told the story of a big laugh he got at the mall one morning when Stevie couldn't figure out why people kept staring at him. And that sound you asked about was the guitar. I recommend any of the performances he did at the El Macambo for future reacts. That was among the top 5 full rock or blues concerts ever recorded. Stevie was absolutely on fire that night.
10 the strings and he’s holding his fingers down on the on the bars so I got take a blank almost he’s got a Wawa to a foot pedal and he’s like I’m with him and Lee guitarist all in one this band is amazing piano player smokin drummer bass player forget about it double trouble the name of the group tight rope another good song superstition Stevie Wonder song he does at the end of the video Stevie Wonder does a cameo col stuff
I feel like one of the times you heard this song is when I get was listening to it in a party on playstation That "chugging" you heard was actually him bro, alot of sounds can be made with a guitar
The guy next to Stevie is playing the bass (a differnt instrument than a lead guitar) his name is Tommy Shannon. The keyboardist is Reese Wynans. The drummer is Chris Layton. They were all "brothers" with SRV, and were devastated when he died, as we all were.
Yaasss! There's a great collaboration that I think you might like, and it is Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Paul Butterfield, B.B. King. All playing together! I listed the names in that order, because the live video has the names listed in that order, so that it will be easier for you to find. Definitely worth a listen!
Hey✌️great reaction👏. This is one of my favorites as well. Yes the man had swagger to spare for sure. Just his stage presence and charisma captures your attention before you ever hear him play. You mentioned Tommy Shannan, the bass player. He is part of the rhythm section and not a lead guitarist so there is no competition between them. Their instruments play different roles. You should know they were a very close Band of Brothers. They were great friends that loved each other. Stevie was the main draw and the rest were there in support of him. But they were all excellent musicians. They kept Stevie in the pocket and watched him like a hawk to see where he was going at any given time. He always played in the moment and never played the same song the same way. Even though it was generally not done Stevie had insisted that all performances fees were spilt evenly between them as a testament to how important they were to him. Reese Wynans, the pianist, was the last one to join in 1985. He is still playing with Joe Bonamasso on the circuit today. Chris Layton on drums. Can't wait for you to discover more of him. Thanks for doing this today✌️💙
The sound you hear is the guitar. Stevie muted most of the strings and just allowed the ones playing the tune to play, with his fingers over the others, to keep them from vibrating and giving that sound you hear. That’s how he does both sounds at once. To me it’s almost as amazing what a master he was at muting as he was at playing. How could he do both at once?
So many videos to watch life without you from capital also from capital theater ain't gone n give up on love is great and testify also from el mocambo texas flood and little wing from Austin leave my girl alone and voodo chile
@@TonyyooYT yes I also was going to ask for you to turn up the volume of the video. Your mic is fine though, just the music needs more‼️you are really missing a lot without headphones too✌️can't wait to hear more from you💯
@Tonyyoo's Reactions I decided to subscribe (despite your lapse into some unnecessary cussing here and there). I liked your questions and observations and the enthusiasm you showed for SRV. Yes, Stevie Ray is swagger and absolutely stellar talent... all without boorish ego. So compelling. There's a lot more of him and Double Trouble for you to learn about and enjoy. Don't stop at reacting to just two performances.
That is the thing about Stevie he can make a guitar make sounds you would not thing one would make the members of the band are Recess on the keyboard Tommy one the bass and Chris one the drums and of course Stevie on the lead guitar. Welcome to the wonderful world of Stevie Ray Vaughan. If you haven’t already checked out this one you should check out life without you live at the Capital Theater and also check out his guitar sound check where he is wearing a leopard coat and remember it is just a sound check
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats Do yourself a HUGE favor: **Texas Flood at El Macambo** **Life Without You at Capitol Theater ** **Voodoo Child at Starwood Theater in Nashville**
Jimi Hendrix voodoo Child all along the watchtower listen to that if you can and then listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan he’s the only one that can play like Jimi Hendrix close your eyes the sounds better today but if you close your eyes you swear Jimmy’s somewhere and Stevie it’s pretty cool pretty amazing great
Nothing Stevie played is easy by any means, however this song in particular is TOUGH. The strumming ability and control you must have. Not to mention the tough chord shapes and all the muting you gotta do to get only certain strings ring out. Stevie was and is a master of his craft by todays standards too.
Did you say this is the last SRV?!? Say it ain't so! That can't be right...I was looking at the number of views and seems Stevie steals them. However, I understand there are other folks wanting other music...silly people (⊙_◎)
Scuttle buttin it's only 2 mins but he's amazing love live SRV
The GOAT OF GOATS!
Stevie was a complete guitar wizard.
If your grandmother listened to this kind of music she had great taste.

Reese Wynans is on keys. He's still playing with Joe Bonamassa...another legend to check out.

Stevie Played the Rhythm guitar and Lead guitar at the same time.
I moved to Austin in '82.. Got to see these guys manyy times!!:))
The noise you hear is Stevie strumming and yes he can do it All!! With a guitar 🎸
Legend has it that srv picked up the guitar at age 7. Obviously he rarely put it down after that.

SRV - Life Without You at the Capital Theatre is life-changing.

STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN WAS THE BEST!!!
Texas Flood, behind his back. Love struck, over his head.
Stevie's band members adored him.
Insanely good music, and excellent reaction !!!
And then there is the moment you realize he is playing rhythm and leas! 😎👍 it's a wah wah peddle
The cat in the hat with a strat!
I saw only SRV on guitar, and men on bass guitar, drums and piano. To get on a stage with SRV, you have to be good.

Swagger he said. I think it's Stevie's confidence.

The “Waq Waq” is from the guitar. It’s a combination of two rhythm guitar techniques called raking and muting.
Ohh thank you !!
SRV gets all the credit but his whole band is TIGHT! SRV & Double Trouble.

The guy never would put that guitar down man all day all night! Girls would go home because of it! Tired of waiting on him.
That sound is the Wah pedal.

You missed it dude.
The volume on this video is messed up, dude! Disappointing!
Too much swank, not enough gain.
