What a great muso ! I just DIG this guy & his style of playing ! What blew me away was finding ot his influences are guys who "blew me away" for ages. Tim Buckley, Van Morrison, John Martyn, Davey Graham, Bert Jansch, John Renbourne..... Now those are roots worth checking out !
Lovin this guy! I am a devotee of the 60's and 70's folk revivals in the UK & America. I think it's awfully cool he's doing Go Your Way My Love, which I enjoy playing on the 12 string. He is also channeling John Martyn's voice! Really lovely stuff.
I love the fact he's not afraid to tune his guitar the old fashioned way nothing show business about this guy and I respect the hell out of him for it Live performances are so impersonal these days ryley really goes against the grain he's incredibly human
I just got to let you know: I've watched this performance several times.I really love your vibe man! I'm even checkin out new music suggestions from the comments below. I plan on buying a few albums of yours too! Love it man! I'm inspired.
A little bit of Bert Jansh, Nick Drake and my personal Favorite - Mr Roy Harper. What's not to like - a refreshign change in this world of autotune and frankly flat boring guitar playing... Off to buy the album now!
{ agree with the previous post..........................hail Reyley, fresh talent for the folk, folk for folk.s sake, Ryley for Folks sake, Primrosed Green!
Nicholas James Thomasma Oh sure but they're easy to learn cause they're just 3 notes like CECGEC or DADF#AD, then all you have to do is play notes in the same key and it sounds dope
He sounds like Bert Jansch. If you listen to the song Veronica by Bert then you will definitely see the similarity of the guitar and the vocals. But Walker is by far one of my favorites.
Robert Johnson III I couldn't agree with you more. For me, Primrose Green brought back memories of Tim Buckley, but his other songs are a mix of the stir you mentioned. Thanks for the insight. Nothing is new, and it's good to be reminded of the old voices.
Saw him last night in Edinburgh. Superb player and a great rapport with the audience. Next time he come to town I'm going to take all my mates.

no words for this young man!
What an amazing musician.
He's all of 24 here. Truly special talent
Sounds like Davy Graham. Wow. Love it.
WOW..... You are so talented. I'm blown away.
Hes great! I just bought his album
Impressing performance. The heritage of the Primitive american music has arrived.
With Steve Gunn is one of the most gifted composers
I love the fact he's not afraid to tune his guitar the old fashioned way nothing show business about this guy and I respect the hell out of him for it

unbelievably good music. thanks ryley!!
Looking forward to hearing him at Solid Sound. He reminds me a bit of Tim Buckley.
wow this kid sounds like tim buckley big time. really remarkable
Excellent performance!!
I saw this guy supporting Cloud Nothings. He was just as good as them i can tell you, if not better!
A little bit of Bert Jansh, Nick Drake and my personal Favorite - Mr Roy Harper. What's not to like - a refreshign change in this world of autotune and frankly flat boring guitar playing... Off to buy the album now!
some mad skills...
{ agree with the previous post..........................hail Reyley, fresh talent for the folk, folk for folk.s sake, Ryley for Folks sake, Primrosed Green!
This is why kids should learn alternate tunings.
+Nicholas James Thomasma tbf open tunings are like the easiest thing to play cool sounding stuff in
Only if you take the time to learn them
Nicholas James Thomasma Oh sure but they're easy to learn cause they're just 3 notes like CECGEC or DADF#AD, then all you have to do is play notes in the same key and it sounds dope
always!
Sam Leadbetter But it takes imagination and skill to actually make music with them that does not sound predictable...
brilliant sound
Roy Harper vibes at times, love it.
Ah ah, I was saying to myself "at last, a guy who digs Tim Buckley". :)
Reminds me of John Martyn Solid air album
althaeacorn The title song of which was about Nick Drake.
A really cool dude
wonderful stuff lovely version of bert jansch go your way
Sheer genius.
wow!
5* MAN!! TY
Bravo "Ryley Walker" you could be on "America's Got Talent.
What the tuning to Summer dress? Amazing performance. Def check out his Twitter. Dude is so funny.
More Buckley vibe than Drake. I think people think Drake when they see him; their look is sort of similar. But with eyes closed it's Buckley-er.
Seeing #RyleyWalker at #Levitation2015 . His sound is reminiscent of Nick Drake and John Martyn.
He is playing London on 2nd Sept 15, Guildford 3rd Sept 15.
Mike Sargent Scotland?
John Martyn,Bert Jansch and early Van Morrison more than Drake
I'm sure this lad likes Nick Drake.
Nick Drake has a very (very!!) different vibe?
Robert Johnson III I think he likes both Nick Drake and Tim Buckley.
joelnohnn I hear a Nick Drake influence definitely. I also hear a very intelligent guitarist making his own music his own way. What a great dude.
joelnohnn
I'm not disagreeing with you, I just want to add Bert Jansch to that list. Especially his vocal delivery.
so sad that Nick Drake is dead.glad that Ryley is not.
Summer Dress has a Tim Buckley vibe to it.
'Solid Air' era John Martyn comes to mind.
What's the tuning for Summer Dress? My perfect pitch is nearly developed, but for the life of me, I can't figure out the tuning! :o
He sounds like Bert Jansch. If you listen to the song Veronica by Bert then you will definitely see the similarity of the guitar and the vocals. But Walker is by far one of my favorites.
Dominic Zambo Lots of people trying, but you've spotted it
can anybody figure out the tuning for summer dress? sounds like an open d of some kind...
Wow°**``*´´**° that's fantastic°** hell yeah**°
Whats the name of the first song?
Much much more Tim Buckley than Nick Drake or John Martyn... except last one, really in J.Martyn's mood
Dude
Tim Buckley, folks! Definetly one of his sources. But Ryley found his own sound!
Great playing, but I can't understand the words he is singing.
He sounds mostly like Jose Gonzalez
He sounds mostly like himself... Put Gonzalez, John Martyn, Tim Buckley, Drake together and stir a little
Robert Johnson III I couldn't agree with you more. For me, Primrose Green brought back memories of Tim Buckley, but his other songs are a mix of the stir you mentioned. Thanks for the insight. Nothing is new, and it's good to be reminded of the old voices.
John Martyn wants his sound back.
reminds me of old lindsey buckingham.
i like lindsey buckingham.
He needed to reposition the kapo to avoid that buzz, but great otherwise.
Inspired by.....Jefferson Airplaine
Soulless janschifying
Scott Speedman with bad hair.
Worst TAFS guest and forgettable.
