Sandyland Brushless Motor Upgrade - The most fun thing you can do with a tiny RC!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 июн 2020
- In today's video, I put a brushless motor in my tiny 1/18 scale Sandyland Desert Journey car! It nearly doubles the speed. The sandyland now goes almost as fast as my Rustler 4x4 which is a bit ridiculous. This brushless upgrade is a ton of fun and makes the Sandyland amazing! Enjoy!
I used this brushless upgrade kit: www.pxtoysrc.com/index.php/cat... It goes directly into the sandyland and automatically pairs with the remote. If you need any help, ask me in the comments!

Came back here to say thank you! Saw this video after I obtained the car myself and Saved up enough money to buy this kit for myself after a few months, but it was worth it! Got the car used from a friend as a gift and hated how slow it was. It’s now my favorite little speed car!
Nice I just got a sandy land I upgraded the tires I would like to upgrade to brushless ASAP looks fast !
I got one and it's really good for a little RC car and its really durable
Cool video. I clicked because I've got one of these as well, and recently started giving it some upgrades. (Custom body, and installed cooling fan on a separate power source above the motor)
I thought about doing a similar upgrade to the one you did, but figured I may as well just get a better/larger car anyway.
Liked and subbed!
Hi. Love your videos I'm planning on doing some major upgrades on my sandyland. I've had it for 2 months. Just was wondering how did you get it to go in reverse, I figured I ask so once I get mine I can be able to get it to go backwards and forward
I had to recalibrate the throttle endpoints to get it to go in reverse. It’s a fairly easy process, and it explains it in the instructions. If you want, I can send a link for a PDF of the English instructions so you can see them!
Have you ever had any issues with the radio ?? Mine seems to not work after 6 days but I think I need a new one or may take it apart to check it thanks in advance
The radio on the sandyland is definitely not great - I’ve had some issues with disconnecting and not remembering steering trim settings. Fortunately for me, I haven’t broken mine yet, but I’ll definitely replace it with a better one at some point. What is wrong with your radio? Will it turn on but not connect? Will it just not turn on?
awesome bro
subbed man
3:51 UPDATE: DUDE, download Google Lens on your phone, click "translate" and point your phone camera at that paper! It will translate everything for you!!
Hey Bro, where you do buy more of those little batteries from? and do you use the little usb charger that they come with, or do you use a different charger for those little lipos?
Thanks! Yeah I managed to get some English instructions fortunately.
You can get more little batteries from here: www.pxtoysrc.com/index.php/pxtoys-9300-upgrade-parts-oil-shock-5024.html
I would recommend upgrading them though, because they will still die fast. (I have a video on upgrading them here: ruclips.net/video/lYTD76OEagE/видео.html )
I don't really use the old batteries anymore, but if I did I would want to use a different charger. (The one that comes with them doesn't balance charge, which is bad for the batteries.) You will certainly need a new charger if you want to upgrade your batteries because more powerful ones can be very dangerous if they aren't charged correctly. I can give you a link to the batteries and chargers I use now if you'd like.
I hope this helps! Have fun! 😀
Sweet video mate !!! Very informative 👍 I'm a gas RC guy but thinking of testing the waters soon in the electric RC world. 👍
Awesome! I’m the other way around - I’ve always had electric, but gas and nitro cars sound cool and I might try them.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC oh you really should . Can't beat the sound and the smells 👍
Electric....do it. :)
Does it go any faster? What istthe diff between brushed and brushless?? Seems the same mayb tad faster now
@Linda Soutner it is a lot faster and more efficient. Sadly, with the current tires, it can’t really handle the speed and so it loses a lot of it to wheel spin. I mainly installed the brushless to give it more potential, so now I can upgrade the gears and tires to make it go crazy fast!
How do you know when your servo and receiver aren't compatible with a given brushless motor and esc? Thanks!
These ones had different plugs, so I couldn’t connect them. Sometimes, a servo/receiver can require a different voltage than an esc, so it’s important to check that too if you’re not sure, but usually if the plugs fit, it’ll work.
Awesome video I subed
Hi mate I’m looking to do the same upgrade;) but I’ve got one deerc 9310 do you know if I have to change the remote control or the original is going to work with the same upgrade
I’m not 100% sure. I believe that deerc cars are just rebadged Pxtoys ones, so the stock radio should work, just like on mine. I’d say try it out. If it doesn’t work, you can always buy a new radio for pretty cheap. After you upgrade the motor, you’ll probably want to get a better radio anyway!
Same motor and esc in my drift concept from deerc. Reverse works on level 3 throttle trim and higher
I changed the throttle end points, and that fixed it for me
@@CHEESEBURGERRC how did you do that?
Sorry about the late reply! I didn't get a notification. It says what you're supposed to do in the instructions, and they explain it better than I can, but I'll try.
You want to power the car on while holding the button next to the switch. It'll beep a bunch. Once it stops beeping, release the button. (Don't keep holding it - if you do, it'll beep some more to indicate you're changing a different setting.) Once you've done this, move the throttle stick to the neutral position, then press the button. Then move it to the full throttle position and press the button again. Then move it to full reverse and press it again. Move the stick back to neutral, and turn the car off. When you turn it back on, the endpoints should be set.
Again, I can't explain it amazingly, and this probably sounds confusing. I'd recommend looking at the instructions for details and pictures. I hope this helps!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC can you share the directions? Is it digital? Upload to google drive and share maybe? Thanks man. Love your videos.
Sure: drive.google.com/file/d/12Ocxsv2MiA1pmpuM_X3booCsDKse4FcO/view
Can I take the original gear off the brushes moter and put it on the brushless because the moter and esc I ordered dose not have a gear attached??
I don’t think so. I’ve heard of people removing it, but I don’t think it’s possible without damaging something. I believe Pxtoys sells pinions on their website though, and if you have the same motor I used, it should have the pinion.
Does the stock controller work with upgraded reciever box? New to this stuff.
It did for me! I just had to turn the receiver and remote on and they paired.
I have the newer version of the remote. I’m not sure if it’d work with the older one, but if you have the new one it’ll work.
U should get a receiver with an xt60 or t plug so u can put in a better battery
Great idea! I’m probably gonna solder one on so I don’t need to replace the esc. It’ll let me run pretty much any battery!
Hey love the upgrades!! I’m trying to get mine as fast as yours! I ordered the brushless kit, how long did it take for it to show up after ordering??
It definitely isn’t fast. Mine took about a month to show up. Don’t worry though - it will come!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC oh wow okay was curious because it’s been a while already, I figured it was probably coming straight from China haha. Thanks! Keep up the awesome videos 🤙🏼
@@CHEESEBURGERRC can you use the stock lights on the new electronics box?
If they have a regular 3 wire (only 2 are present) cord, they’ll work! The stock receiver box has some weird connectors though, so it may not have the 3 wire one.
The brushless kit does come with its own lights though!
My son just got this and LOVES it. He actually broke one of the wheels though. I see that I can buy replacement wheels, but can't figure out how to take the broken wheel off? I've taken the hub off but the wheel won't come loose? Any advice?
I’m glad he likes it! The wheels definitely aren’t easy to get off. They’re on there pretty tight even after you take off the nut. I’ve found that the easiest way to get them off is just to hit the shaft that the nut screws onto with the back of a screwdriver (or if you’re careful a hammer.) Just do a few gentile whacks to push the shaft back through the hole. Once you do that, it should come off! I actually did this just earlier today, and I’ll upload a video of it tomorrow or the day after. I hope this helps!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC Thank you so much for the unbelievably fast response! I'll try that tomorrow. I think I know what you mean, but a video would make me feel a little more comfortable. I would hate to do irreparable damage. It was actually run over by my neighbor's car. Must have just clipped the wheel?
Wow! That’s impressive that it survived that! And no problem. I’ll send the link to the video and a time stamp for the tire removal once I upload it👍
Here's the video: ruclips.net/video/dRegxzz-Zv4/видео.html
The clip is at 1:45. Its not really a "tutorial," but it shows what to do. I hope this helps!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC you are amazing! Now we just have to wait for the replacement wheels to come in. My son actually emailed DEERC for help before I found your videos. They emailed him back, apologizing for not having the wheels in stock and sent him a brand new replacement car! Unbelievable.
I have a question is higher KV on a motor means more speed Cuz I want to put a 6100kv motor in my sg1602
Higher KV does mean more speed. 6100 is pretty fast!
Like the sandy land upgrade, need to know expecific so I can do it
What do you mean?
I want to do this! Did you get reverse to work? If so let me know. It’s the only thing holding me back from doing this.
I did get it to work! I figured out that I had to recalibrate the throttle endpoints on the ESC. Once I got a set of English instructions, it was super easy!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC just got the upgrade kit it looks a little different than your video. How did you get the reverse to work?
How did u bind the original remote to the brushless upgrade? 🤔
For me, I just turned on the remote and the esc.
Where can you find this on Amazon
And the servo 9G?
Bud, does that stock transmitter work with these upgrades?
Mine did! I have been told that the old version of the transmitter doesn’t though.
Awesome tutorial dude but how did you change out the pinion gear
The motor I got actually came with a pinion, so I didn’t have to change it!
What size is that pinion and what pitch does it have?
Another question, can you use the stock remote with the new motor or do you have to get a new remote? And if so what kind?
Mine worked with the stock radio! It automatically bound when I turned it on.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC hmmm mine didn’t work for some reason🤔🤔
It might be plugged in wrong. Unfortunately, the wires on these go in either way, and fit in any slot. If they’re plugged into the right channel in the right direction, it should work.
I just realized something- you might have the older radio. Pxtoys has 2 different versions of the radio, and it might not pair with the old one. What does your radio look like?
Yeaa!!
Would I have to get a new controller if I switched to brushless?
Nope! Mine automatically bound to the stock controller.
I’ve bought me a 1/18 scale DEERC 300e brushless monster truck, you I can upgrade the battery to 3s battery?
I’m not an expert on the deerc cars, but if it has the same motor and esc as this one, it should already be brushless capable! I’d recommend adding a fan and making sure it has bearings before running it on 3s though just so that you don’t overload the motor.
I seen online it said kit? It haves everything showing you.have there for 80$ you get all.of it for 80$? Or that just the motor?
It comes with everything! Motor, esc, receiver, servo, and little LED headlights.
Awesome
Good video
I love the video!!! Can u give me the list of material your using? Great video!!
Oh my goodness! So sorry for the late reply! Here is a link to where I got the motor: www.pxtoysrc.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/5021/s/pxtoys-9300-upgrade-parts-oil-shock/
but what kind of different glue would work if you don't have the shoe goo
In the past, I’ve used super glue. It works pretty well, but it’s brittle so you have to reglue a lot. Hot glue would probably also work well, but it doesn’t stick to all plastics, so it may not work. You could try something like double sided tape to hold it in temporarily until you get some shoe goo. Some type of epoxy like Jbweld would probably hold it extremely well, although maybe a bit too well. If you wanted to remove the esc later, it could be impossible. Also, you run the risk of damaging the plastic.
I’d say your best bet is probably hot glue, or super glue!
How are you using the stock transmitter with the new updated receiver??
For me, it bound automatically! I have the newer version of the radio however, and it's possible that the v1 version won't bind.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC in the video you used the original controller that came with it, after you upgraded the receiver. What receiver bound to that stock controller? I have a bunch of those controllers and I’d like to get some use out of them. But after the upgrade, thought it would be useless. I’ve never had a controller from a 2in1 brushed stock set up, bind to a new receiver.
I got it in a kit, but I believe it’s this receiver here: www.pxtoysrc.com/index.php/pxtoys-9300-upgrade-parts-oil-shock-5017.html
And that’s probably the same as this one here which is cheaper: banggood.com/PXtoys-2_4G-3CH-Receiver-for-9300-369300-37-118-Rc-Car-Transmitter-PX9300-45-p-1433737.html?rmmds=search&act_poa=SKUB28191&cur_warehouse=CN
That’s definitely a good idea to reuse the old radios! It’s not the best radio system, but in something small or slow (like a crawler) it’d be awesome!
1: where did you get these parts?? 2:how much did it cost??
I got them here: www.pxtoysrc.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/5021/s/pxtoys-9300-upgrade-parts-oil-shock/
They cost $80.
CHEESEBURGER RC thank you!
how do you know if it an old transmitter ?
The old ones have less buttons. The new ones have dials on top, and some green stripes near the edges.
can the stock esc work with a 2s lipo?
Yes, but you should still be careful - the esc certainly can handle the voltage of 2s, but I have no idea how many amps it can handle. Because of this, a higher quality 2s lipo could still overload it. If you try it, be careful, and check the temperatures!
The shocks look like they have no oil. You should upgrade them!
Hey I did the upgrade but my steering is backwards! I've tried all I know any help would be great.
Of course! I can think of 2 main things it could be:
1.) The controller has a "reverse steering" switch, which is super easy to accidently bump. (I've done it myself a few times.) That would definitely be the easiest fix.
2.) By the looks of it, the servo could in theory be put in backwards. The servo horn should be closer to the outside of the car, not the inside.
I would guess it's probably one of those, but if that doesn't fix it, tell me and I'll try to help some more!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC I don't technically have your RC. I have an RC from the same company. Dee RC and I broke the steering. After watching your videos I bought the exact same upgrade, but my transmitter bare bones compared to the sandy land. No reverse steering setting and servo only fits one way.
Ah I see. One thing I've just realized is that the servo could be put in upside down (Not backwards) which would reverse the steering.
Either way, to fix it, you can use the steering reverse switch. If you have the same radio as me, there should be a switch labeled "ST." If you flip that, it'll reverse the steering.
If your radio doesn't have that, you could try flipping the servo. I believe that it'd fit upside down the same way as right-side up, so all you'd have to do would be flip the servo horn.
That should fix it! If it doesn't, tell me and I'll see if there's anything else you can do!
hi what kind of glue did you use to glue it back
The esc is held on with shoe goo
How much did every thing cost? Not including the car just the mods
$80 if you buy it as a kit.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC oh ok that's not that bad

So if I up grade mine will it strip out the gears
It depends on how you drive. My car handles 3s no problem when I’m doing speedruns, but it does chip gears if I do jumps. If you upgrade your gears though, you shouldn’t have any problems!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC thanks so much for answering and keep up the good videos
Hey have you had problems in the pass with the motor burning out or the car just wouldn’t move?
No. If that happens though, it’s most likely wired wrong or there’s something stuck somewhere that’s overworking it.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC overworking? Hmm I’ll take it about check it out thanks bro 😎
The other thing it could be is a thermal or voltage cutoff. If it’s getting hot, you may need to add a fan. If it’s not, it could be as simple as changing a setting so the ESC knows what battery it’s running.

It should! I believe the deerc cars are rebadged Pxtoys ones. Do you know what model yours is?
Hi I have one cuestion I have this sandy land 1/18 scale if I upgrade to a brushless I need to remplace the esc and the remote control?
You definitely will have to replace the receiver and esc. If you have the right remote, you shouldn’t have to replace the remote.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC I have the factory remote
There’s a V1 and a V2 remote. If yours has 3 dials and some switches on the top, it’s the V2 and it’ll work! Even if you don’t have the V2, you can always just get a different radio system. I got the Dumborc one as an upgrade, and it’s way better.

Sorry my remote have 3 dial on the top and 3 switch down the 3 dial
I want to upgrade my 9300 truck I ordered 2 more batteries of 1200mah😄 its a start. And do I need to upgrade my remote for this?
If your remote is the v2 one, it should pair automatically with the new receiver! The v2 ones have 3 dials on the back.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC my remote only has the steering knob and speed knob is that the newer version?
@@gamercat7004 Mine has a steering rate nob, a throttle trim nob, and a steering trim nob on the top. It also has 2 switches labeled with an N and an R (normal and reverse) for steering and throttle right below the 3 nobs. The on off switch is also on the top, and there’s a red light to indicate that the radio is on.
My particular radio also says “2.4ghz” in red above the dials, as well as on the bottom right of the controller. It says “fast furious” in white below the 2.4ghz on the top, and has various green accents around the radio. It is possible that yours does not have this however, because many sellers make rebranded versions of the car with slightly different styling.
@@gamercat7004 By knob do you mean the trigger and wheel or an adjustment thing? If there’s no adjustment stuff on the top, it’s probably the v1. I believe that the v1 looks sort of rounded at the top, whereas the v2 looks more boxy.

Sure! I got all the electronics in a kit from here: www.pxtoysrc.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/5021/s/pxtoys-9300-upgrade-parts-oil-shock/
I would recommend getting it as a kit because:
1.) It’s cheaper
2.) It’s WAY easier than trying to find the parts individually
3.) You know you’re getting the right parts
If you want to get them individually, look for these:
•Enzone 9303E off road part upgrade brushless motor (Motor): amzn.to/37v6bWE
•ENOZE 9303E upgrade part brushless ESC (ESC)
•ENOZE NO.9303E upgrade parts brushless rudder (Servo)
•ENOZE 9303E upgrade parts brushless receiving plate (Receiver)
•ENOZE 9303E upgrade parts brushless headlamp (Headlights)

If you want a larger pinion that works with the car, you can get this one: www.pxtoysrc.com/index.php/pxtoys-9300-upgrade-parts-oil-shock-4227.html it’s the one from the brushed upgrade motor that I used to have in my car. The ESC is a Flycolor one rated at 18 amps. It’s definitely plenty for a car this small!
The servo doesn’t seem to have any branding, but it looks very similar to the stock servo, just with 3 wires. It performs pretty well. I don’t think a stronger servo would make a huge difference because the servo saver is pretty soft.

Yes! I did a video on the bearings here: ruclips.net/video/dRegxzz-Zv4/видео.html
@@CHEESEBURGERRC your the man any idea were to get them cant find shit on them
They’re 6x10x3 sized. There’s a link to the ones I used on a pinned comment on that video, but any 6x10x3 bearings will work.
Witam esc 25A czy 35A ?
Silnik 4500kv??
It’s an 18a esc. It came in a pack but it’s technically flycolor brand.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC
18a esc??
Aku 3s?
It is rated for 18a and 3s yes. You’ll want a fan on the motor for 3s though.
I’ve got one of these and one day when I’ve got an extra 100 bucks I plan on doing this
Hey 2022
Me
also u jusst eatnes a new sub
Do you need any other parts to complete this upgrade other than what is in the package you listed? I don't want to buy the kit only to find out I need to buy other gears, etc... www.pxtoysrc.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/5021/s/pxtoys-9300-upgrade-parts-oil-shock/
Thanks! My son and I got 2 for Christmas and we LOVE them! Here is a link to his video: ruclips.net/video/vvY-1yt2Oe8/видео.html
Nope! It comes with everything you need to do it.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC how much faster does it go than stock? Also, do you think new tires and suspension are needed to accommodate the extra power? One more question, what is the best possible battery to put in this truck? We have the 2 original batteries and they are fine. Run about 20 min each but are there ones that deliver more power and a longer run time?
It goes quite a bit faster, although more powerful batteries are definitely needed to get the full power out of it. I would also recommend new tires because the stock ones get worn down very fast. New suspension is nice, although not really a must have. I would however recommend replacing the bushings with bearings to get all the power from the motor. I use Zop Power batteries in it now, and they definitely work pretty well. You do have to solder on a new connector to run them though, so you have to be careful.
I hope this helps! Have fun! 😀
@@CHEESEBURGERRC what size zop batteries? If I didn’t buy the upgrade kit, what batteries would help me get longer run time/more power?
I use 1500 mah ones. I have some 2s ones, and I recently got it to run on 3s too!
I’ve never tried different batteries with the stock esc. I would guess that a 2s 1500 mah zop power would work, since it’s the same voltage, although the zops definitely have a higher discharge rate, so I don’t know if the stock esc could handle it.
Bro just made a deerc e 300 lol
Links like you simply made it unmanageable lmao

Sandy land>rustler 4x4vxl
I’ll do some more Sandyland then! I’ve been waiting on some parts but it’s all back together now!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC thanks for the reply! The sandy land is awesome!
i hope you dont ever get something better then the rustler and replace it :(
Haha, you really think I’d replace the Rustler? The Rustler will always be special to me, and even if I get a better one, I’ll still use it!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC hm, okay, i might be able to give you some tips on the rustler, do you like to offroad bash it or on road?
I usually do some off roading. I just raised the suspension and added some shock spacers, and it’s like a whole new car now!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC thats what i was about to say! those shock spacers do a play a valid part, i added them 2 days ago and its ran like a whole new car.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC also, what do you mean by rasing the supension? didyou move the shocks in a whole on the arms?
so bad
Please elaborate.
