When I posted on your other content (Big Lick Comic Con visit) I was a new sub, I had no idea you had been there. I am happy to see you made it to Big Lick's shop. This shop, the employees, and their ownership are all amazing. Salute!
That's the problem I've been running into at comic shops, all the back issues being priced high. Run fillers that aren't even in good condition being priced at $10. I'm pretty strict on my purchasing now, has to be a key or in really nice condition if I'm going to pay premium prices.
@@raedjibrail5565 i don’t own a comic store, but I am a dealer that goes to comic cons and I have around 3k+ comics at the moment. Been selling them pretty easily and i price my books around $2 minimum to whatever the market asks. Because I know i can be a bit high i am not firm on them. If you buy bulk i work you a sweet deal. I have been doing successful and and finally am about to own my dream book, Avengers #54 signed by Stan Lee graded with CGC at a 7.5.
Do u see the size of this store? No way this is profitable with rent.. he must just be rich and going in the hole with this. This is like dicks sporting goods or comics lmao
I'm extremely lucky that we have great comic shops in the greater Houston area (Bedrock) who have spread out to several locations now in the Houston area. Their stores are all extremely clean, organized and staffed with friendly, welcoming people. They're constantly putting on events, meet and greets, customer appreciation nights, etc... My kids (6 and 10) love going to them and they're always greeted and talked to like real human beings with real interests in super heroes. It's unfortunate that it's the exception rather than the norm. Their pricing in store is usually pretty reasonable, but even if they're a little high on some things I'm happy to shop there for what they're providing to the community. There's a reason they're doing so well to be able to have several shops though while other shops in the same area are struggling, shutting down, or just memories now. If you're ever in the Houston area check them out. Great stores.
The best one I went to was in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Had America comics and statues, tons of manga and comics in Spanish. Had a nice size cafeteria area that cold coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. Awesome shop
Cool video!!! I just went to the big lick comicon the other weekend for the first time and it was awesome. Have not been to the comic book store yet it is definitely on my to do list next time I’m in the area. Glad you got a lot of good comics on your shopping spree. 😎
Looks like a great shop, a price definitely comes with that kind of space. Very spread out and displayed well. Nice Haul, Awesome Spider-Man and New Mutants. I actually liked the New Mutants movie 😂 have a good one 👍
I watch all these videos and they are all excellent. Awesome comic store. You should start doing a small review on the craft beer u had each trip haha. Great job though!
Also - thank you for the shout-out about CLZ comics database. Great app for curating my comics and what I have missing. Have subscribed - and yes, they need to sponsor your channel!
I frequent Big Lick Comics a lot. The store is family owned by Adam and JD Sutphin they are brothers. Those guys are very friendly and helpful and they also the run the Big Lick Comic con as well. They will go the extra mile with their customers especially repeat ones. You also should visit B&D comics in Roanoke. They are a smaller establishment but probably the longest run store in the Roanoke Valley. They are also another store that works with their customers especially repeat ones like my self.
Price wise from a comic shop... about average... but definitely could have got em alot cheaper on ebay... but then theres shipping, lol. Im a 30 year collector so i know what you mean about prices being to high. But it's alot better buying at a LCS, then always buying on a computer. Those ASM prices were above retail. My comic shop guy usually knocks off like 30% on back issues, Very cool comics.
I’ve heard this new swamp thing run is pretty damn good I’m like you and Alan Moore swamp thing is the pinnacle of comic book storytelling for me so I find it hard not to take that bias into that character when reading a new writer 🤷🏿♂️
LOVE THE CATWOMAN, TWO MOON ISSUES, SWAMP THING ISSUES, BATMAN#125, AMAZING SPIDER MAN ISSUES, BATMAN ISSUES, MNEW MUTANT ISSUES, LOVE NEW TEEN TITANS AND OF COURSE BATMAN/!!!GARY BAILEY KING OF DARKNESS AND GOD OF THUNDER AND LIGHTNING
Demeanor is everything! I avoid a shop 2 miles from my house to go to one 15 miles away because the guy at the close one is an asshole. Even one of the workers (out of 5) is rude at the far one and I never go to the counter when he's the only one available. I'll linger and wait for someone else
No WV. Hey I’m about to make a video talking about NFTs and Veve do you mind if I reference your rarity video because I think you did a very good job explaining what that means.
Are you fairly local? Do you do trades or looking for anything in particular? I'm looking for anything Caliber Crow or a good copy/upgrade for Eternity Evil Ernie #2. Sold them all signed long ago, regretting it now. Lol. Have Statues and books.

It’s lazy pricing
Sadly, many physical shops have high rents, staff, power and other overheads. Which might go someway to explaining the perceived high prices.

Yea I feel like shops should not be as big as this. These guys pay a ton of rent, which means everything has to be priced way too high.
Having comics bagged and boarded and looking nice induces me to buy. Raggedy looking back issues and not so much.
My Hometown Comic Shop. Glad you liked it.

Lone Star Comics?
Interesting...love this.

That’s incredible what a great idea
That Catwoman comic was worth it because....reasons that involve the "scientific community".
Lol

I did as well the video will drop next Friday. I got some big stuff.
Big Licks was one of the nicest comics stores I have ever seen in my life

Yea to have that kinda space prices gonna be a little higher
I want to go on a comic trip with you. You go to all the good places.

I had been to BD comics previously nice shop as well
You think that's expensive. You should see the prices at my LCS's here in Vegas! Stores need to price their stock to be competitive with online sites.
I can’t imagine in a big city like Vegas
All that open floor space in the first store is going to result in higher book costs. It may look good but long term...
Learnt alot from this video as a seller
Nice comic adventure video Goose
Love stuff like this
I agree stand off sucks

Everyone brings their A game with swamp thing tho
Cool comics
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
No big scores to be found in a place like that, give me a lazy owner in a hole in the wall with no clue what’s got hot this week instead!

That is the biggest comic store I've ever seen. Lots of walking space
New sub ! Liked 🎉🙂🔥😊😉

Some of these trolls at these shops are so hard to deal with
Image Comics Eight Billion Genies #1 rumors a book deal and movie.
It was a really really good read
Cool video SGC! I live not too far away from Roanoke. I'll have to stop by the shop. Are you based in VA?
No WV. Hey I’m about to make a video talking about NFTs and Veve do you mind if I reference your rarity video because I think you did a very good job explaining what that means.
@@Stickygoose Yes, of course. That would be great.

Why don't we have comic shops like these in the UK?
I’ve heard this from several people
Why do comic book store employees always man-handle books when I bring them up to the register?
Lol probably because they don’t actually care about comics
Maybe he thought your wristband was released by hospital. I love guys getting mad at stores for prices.
Lol the dude was just disgruntled
those new mutants books are great but you can find them in every dollar box...You got robbed.
thanks
Place looks like a waste of space. So much space. You and I have complete opposite opinions on what makes a great store.
As the dude would say “Well, that’s just like your opinion man.”
I like it. I use a wheelchair so I have room to maneuver. Most shops I have seen were great aesthetically but the aisles were too small.
