Scorpion is more popular with casuals due to being Ed Boon's favorite and being forced by him to be a main character and the poster boy. Meanwhile, most actual fans of MK prefer Sub-Zero. Ice powers are by far the coolest (pun intended), being able to make all kinds of ice constructs, limited only by the users imagination. In various MK games Sub-Zero even have teleport powers in his intros or end round animations, but they don't but it in his moveset to not make him too broken. Sub-Zero is also always one of the best characters in any of the recent games betas and then he is heavily nerfed for the game's release. Ed Boon and Netherealm really hate that people will naturally prefer Sub-Zero over Scorpion, but Bi-Han will always be my favorite character of all time. Yes, I'm heavily biased, but I speak the truth. Fight me.

The idea of having a younger brother in the sequel was so new and cool. and let's not forget, sub-zero had a PREQUEL game to MK1. Granted the game was bad, but it says something to his status back then and now

Sub Zero always dies by Scorpion hand in trailers (MK9 and MKX trailers). Sub Zero also gets defeated by Scorpion in MK9 and MKX comic and video. I bet Scorpion kills Sub Zero in MK1 again. Its a shame that Ed Boon is not treating Sub Zero character with justice. Without Sub Zero there would be no Scorpion.

I came from the future to say that they ruined sub zero, the scriptwriters should have played mythologyes sub zero. Why did they write bi han all wrong, it looks like a male version of frost mixed with sektor. I know Ed Boon doesn't like sub zero, but he should stop sabotaging the character. I got discouraged with the story after I saw this fake bi han without honor, Bi han was never a cheater, he was just cold, but he's not an asshole like he is in this game. And yet bi han disappears from the game's story and only appears in one scene or another as a background extra.
Sub zero is my favorite character but the blatant scorpion favoritism genuinely made me start to dislike scorpion I still get pissed off when I think of the mk9 menu screen NRS had it out for my man since the very beginning

Being critical of a product or service is the only way to ensure it will improve. Saying nothing or blindly consuming all you’re given, will simply destroy the IP. And unfortunately for over a decade now, the IP has been damaged in irreversible ways. This game specifically was supposed to change that. This game was supposed to be what mk9 should’ve been. The “im sorry game”. Now mk9 is good but it has massive story flaws like you said. This game was supposed to be a classic feeling mk and honor the 3d era fans and classic fans more than any other game before. And they were supposed to fix the broken mechanics from mk11. For a millisecond, i thought Boon and co. Were finally listening to us. But now i see this game is just as controversal and divisive as 11. This IP doesnt need anymore division or controversy. And ive said it before i’ll say it again. Their biggest mistake was going corporate. When they were indy as midway, they could do whatever tf they wanted. Now they cant do shit. They cant say shit. And they only listen to the shills now. And the esports guys. They abandoned their core base since X and thats why the nrs era hasnt really done as well with the mk ip. They mainly made money off the guests they put it. So they use that as a flex to say “look at us we sold more than any fighting game or any of our previous titles” when in reality its a false sense of profit. Times neatherealm studios disrespected Sub-Zero solely for scorpion: Mk9 cinematic trailer, Mk9 opening start screen, Mk9 kratos dlc trailer, Mkx launch trailer, Scorpion injustice intro, making Sub-Zero default choice for player 2, when it should be swapped with scorpion, in mk9, 10, & 11! so every character practice dummy is... you guessed it, Sub-Zero. Honorable mentions: in snowblind, scorpion wasn't needed (at all) but he was shoehorned in and for no reason. his plot was to k-word Sub-Zero because for some reason he can't control his powers????? A controlled sub-zero would stomp Scorpion. What would he do against an out of control subyy?!?!?
NRS is the greatest hater of Kuai Liang. He is a complete asshole. Completely ignores Smoke, his "best" friend. He gave up on Bi-Han even though he is corrupted by evil and can't control himself. However, MK2021 did something I thought I would never see again. MK2021 gave some justice to Bi-Han. Bi-Han is literally the most brutal and cool (no pun intended) character in that movie. He's also probably the strongest besides Raiden and Shang. Damn, Joe Taslim's acting was godlike. Ever since MK2021 I love Bi-Han way more than Kuai Liang, especially Bi-Han's new movie version.
I don’t care what anyone says, even when I first laid my eyes on MK, I always thought Sub-Zero was the most badass, and coolest character in the series. The fact that he can freeze you and manipulates Ice, plus the color blue was the most unique and intriguing aspect of the game for me. He is my main character and the the #1 mascot of the series for me.
Let’s not forget that NRS recommends Scorpion and only Scorpion for newer players to MK11 yet Sub-Zero is the most braindead character in the game, as well as one of the most beginner-friendly ones.

Even though Scorpion was always my favorite character growing up I too am tired of how much of the special treatment he gets especially compared to Sub-Zero who has a lot more ties with other characters in the franchise. Scorpion was cool to me because he was the rogue of the franchise who stuck to his own allegiance and him alone being the face of the franchise like in MKX and 11 doesn't sit well with me. Its like making Punisher the face of Marvel.
When Ed Boon glazes Scorpion so much he literally swapped his character with Sub Zero's from the MKX/MK11. Now Sub Zero is bull-headed short-sighted fool while Scorpion is literal perfection in every single aspect. And Kuai Liang in MKX-MK11 wasn't perfect. And don't forget him somehow solo beating THE ENTIRE villainous cast in ONE chapter, including manhandling motherf&cking Shao (Kahn) and defeating his own brother. You can definitely tell Ed Boon is making Sub Zero justice this or next time around...

Reptile wasn't even a character in MK9, he was a literal punching bag that just looks cool but is useless in everything he does, in MKX he did get a bit of character but then he just dies offscreen by Jax and that's it.
Reptile was so garbage in MK9 that he lost to Johnny Caje who wasn't even taking the fight seriously, Johnny thought it was all acting and he still handed Reptile's ass to him, let that sink in. It sure can't get more humiliating than that.

I was always a subzero fan, and usually the poles are arond 50 50 (last one was 52% for scorpion and 48% for sub zero) But for some reason nrs always seemed to push scorpion in a way that's totally disrespectful to sub zero for no reason, making him forcefully a number 2. For instance: -Scorpion's story and chapters are usually more interesting -You usually fight one as the other, but sometimes Scorpion gets to beat Sub Zero, but Sub Zero can't fight scorpion -In every trailer they include a fight where Scorpion beats him and performs a fatality to showcase it -Scorpion is usually seen as the main character (not in the story but for the franchise), appearing more often in the games's loading screens and the disc image -MK9's main menu is literally Scorpion uppercutting Sub Zero In my opinion what makes them interesting is that their rivalry is almost completely even, though Sub Zero (Kuai Liang) has proven a better fighter more often than not. Still, making one shine completely over the other is unnecessary and uncool

I do like Kuai Liang better as Sub-Zero over Bi-Han. And I don't know which one it's going to be in mk1. Several in game kharacters also admit he's better. Raiden admits it in mk vs dc in Sub-Zero's chapter, Cetrion admits it in 1 intro dialogue against Noob in mk11, Kotal Kahn does the same, Sonya does the same... even SCORPION does the same. Given the opportunity for them to be in the game Smoke and Cyrax would also likely do the same. Only Frost denies it, but she's just jealous. On the topic that the studio hates Sub-Zero. Let's think whose past selves did get brought back in mk11: Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Raiden, Johnny, Sonya, Jax, Kano, Kabal, Kitana, Jade, Shao Kahn, Baraka, Scorpion... even Erron Black had a past self return despite not having a past in the time of mk9. everyone I think besides Sub-Zero. Other present kharacters didn't have a past for them to have a past self return or were just not playable kharacters in the game. Sub-Zero was both playable and had a past, but he's the only one (probably) to not have his past self return.

If i were to play devils advocate most of Sub Zero costumes were better than Scorpions. Examples being shaolin monks, mk9 and mkx. Sub zero is automatically badass i mean the name alone sends chills 😉. Scorpions badassery seemed forced in some occasions mk9 being a huge example. He oozed badass when the attention wasnt on him like Shaolin Monks. Plus Sub Zero always had the better fatalities case and point mk deception.

Scorpion is more popular with casuals due to being Ed Boon's favorite and being forced by him to be a main character and the poster boy. Meanwhile, most actual fans of MK prefer Sub-Zero. Ice powers are by far the coolest (pun intended), being able to make all kinds of ice constructs, limited only by the users imagination. In various MK games Sub-Zero even have teleport powers in his intros or end round animations, but they don't but it in his moveset to not make him too broken. Sub-Zero is also always one of the best characters in any of the recent games betas and then he is heavily nerfed for the game's release. Ed Boon and Netherealm really hate that people will naturally prefer Sub-Zero over Scorpion, but Bi-Han will always be my favorite character of all time. Yes, I'm heavily biased, but I speak the truth. Fight me.
it's definitely not being biased. I remember everyone loving sub-zero more than scorpion back then. The idea of having a younger brother in the sequel was so new and cool.
and let's not forget, sub-zero had a PREQUEL game to MK1. Granted the game was bad, but it says something to his status back then and now

Its all really ironic considering in the first game, Sub Zero is supposed to be the original with Scorpion copying his ninja garb in yellow as a jest at his clan.
Sub Zero was Scorpion equal in old Mortal Kombat games. Once when Ed Boon took all creative control, he made Sub Zero into punching bag. Sub Zero always dies by Scorpion hand in trailers (MK9 and MKX trailers). Sub Zero also gets defeated by Scorpion in MK9 and MKX comic and video. I bet Scorpion kills Sub Zero in MK1 again. Its a shame that Ed Boon is not treating Sub Zero character with justice. Without Sub Zero there would be no Scorpion.
Message from the future: They turned Sub-Zero into an edgy villain in MK1, and Scorpion defeats him single-handedly in story mode. 😢

It's mainly Ed Boon, he's a Scorpion fanboy and just has Sub Zero jobber for him everytime, even in the trailers, Sub Zero always dies.
I came from the future to say that they ruined sub zero, the scriptwriters should have played mythologyes sub zero. Why did they write bi han all wrong, it looks like a male version of frost mixed with sektor. I know Ed Boon doesn't like sub zero, but he should stop sabotaging the character. I got discouraged with the story after I saw this fake bi han without honor, Bi han was never a cheater, he was just cold, but he's not an asshole like he is in this game. And yet bi han disappears from the game's story and only appears in one scene or another as a background extra.
Sub zero is my favorite character but the blatant scorpion favoritism genuinely made me start to dislike scorpion I still get pissed off when I think of the mk9 menu screen NRS had it out for my man since the very beginning

Being critical of a product or service is the only way to ensure it will improve. Saying nothing or blindly consuming all you’re given, will simply destroy the IP. And unfortunately for over a decade now, the IP has been damaged in irreversible ways. This game specifically was supposed to change that. This game was supposed to be what mk9 should’ve been. The “im sorry game”. Now mk9 is good but it has massive story flaws like you said. This game was supposed to be a classic feeling mk and honor the 3d era fans and classic fans more than any other game before. And they were supposed to fix the broken mechanics from mk11. For a millisecond, i thought Boon and co. Were finally listening to us. But now i see this game is just as controversal and divisive as 11. This IP doesnt need anymore division or controversy. And ive said it before i’ll say it again. Their biggest mistake was going corporate. When they were indy as midway, they could do whatever tf they wanted. Now they cant do shit. They cant say shit. And they only listen to the shills now. And the esports guys. They abandoned their core base since X and thats why the nrs era hasnt really done as well with the mk ip. They mainly made money off the guests they put it. So they use that as a flex to say “look at us we sold more than any fighting game or any of our previous titles” when in reality its a false sense of profit. And now the company strictly only wants echo chambers as fans now. That is why mk is in the state it is in today. This game will be controversal at best. And once all the shilling and nostalgia bait settles… i think more people will call this game out. Just wait and see as the game cycle continues. Watch for that seismic shift to happen. So if u wanna know why i hate story so much, refer to him for better understanding. As for me i hate much more than story or gameplay. I have issues with the company’s ethics overall. They have been dishonest with the fans for a decade. They’ve lied every game cycle about something. Again, could be here all day explaining that. And to be fair, sub zero was the most fleshed out character of all of mortal kombat. His sub plots were some of the best stories the team has come up with. So merely sidelining him of all characters is actually pretty significant.

Times neatherealm studios disrespected Sub-Zero solely for scorpion: Mk9 cinematic trailer, Mk9 opening start screen, Mk9 kratos dlc trailer, Mkx launch trailer, Scorpion injustice intro, making Sub-Zero default choice for player 2, when it should be swapped with scorpion, in mk9, 10, & 11! so every character practice dummy is... you guessed it, Sub-Zero.
Honorable mentions: in snowblind, scorpion wasn't needed (at all) but he was shoehorned in and for no reason. his plot was to k-word Sub-Zero because for some reason he can't control his powers????? A controlled sub-zero would stomp Scorpion. What would he do against an out of control subyy?!?!?

NRS is the greatest hater of Kuai Liang.
He is a complete asshole. Completely ignores Smoke, his "best" friend. He gave up on Bi-Han even though he is corrupted by evil and can't control himself.
However, MK2021 did something I thought I would never see again. MK2021 gave some justice to Bi-Han. Bi-Han is literally the most brutal and cool (no pun intended) character in that movie. He's also probably the strongest besides Raiden and Shang. Damn, Joe Taslim's acting was godlike. Ever since MK2021 I love Bi-Han way more than Kuai Liang, especially Bi-Han's new movie version.
I don’t care what anyone says, even when I first laid my eyes on MK, I always thought Sub-Zero was the most badass, and coolest character in the series. The fact that he can freeze you and manipulates Ice, plus the color blue was the most unique and intriguing aspect of the game for me. He is my main character and the the #1 mascot of the series for me.
Let’s not forget that NRS recommends Scorpion and only Scorpion for newer players to MK11 yet Sub-Zero is the most braindead character in the game, as well as one of the most beginner-friendly ones.

Even though Scorpion was always my favorite character growing up I too am tired of how much of the special treatment he gets especially compared to Sub-Zero who has a lot more ties with other characters in the franchise. Scorpion was cool to me because he was the rogue of the franchise who stuck to his own allegiance and him alone being the face of the franchise like in MKX and 11 doesn't sit well with me. Its like making Punisher the face of Marvel.

Reptile wasn't even a character in MK9, he was a literal punching bag that just looks cool but is useless in everything he does, in MKX he did get a bit of character but then he just dies offscreen by Jax and that's it.

They don't use the full potential of Sub Zero , but at some points it's also the case with a lot of other Mk icons ... why yall blame Scorpion when it comes to this ? the Nrs' storytelling is the issue ! I don't think they 'hate' Subby ... it's just bcs they can't use him well ... to be fair , even Scorpion himself has lots of "wasted potential" (read in Kuai Liang's voice) in the series - story wise - as the main face of the whole franchise , he doesn't have an important role in any of the games ... I think as a character that millions of ppl acknowledge the whole franchise just bcs of him , he deserves at least an Mk game dedicated to him ... all Scorpion had was the 'poster picz' and thanks to Mk 1 , he doesn't even have that now ! Annnd As far as it seems like , Sub Zero (Bi Han) is now way more important than Scorpion in the gawddamn new timeline ...
For real. I was always a subzero fan, and usually the poles are arond 50 50 (last one was 52% for scorpion and 48% for sub zero)
But for some reason nrs always seemed to push scorpion in a way that's totally disrespectful to sub zero for no reason, making him forcefully a number 2. For instance:
-Scorpion's story and chapters are usually more interesting
-You usually fight one as the other, but sometimes Scorpion gets to beat Sub Zero, but Sub Zero can't fight scorpion
-In every trailer they include a fight where Scorpion beats him and performs a fatality to showcase it
-Scorpion is usually seen as the main character (not in the story but for the franchise), appearing more often in the games's loading screens and the disc image
-MK9's main menu is literally Scorpion uppercutting Sub Zero
In my opinion what makes them interesting is that their rivalry is almost completely even, though Sub Zero (Kuai Liang) has proven a better fighter more often than not. Still, making one shine completely over the other is unnecessary and uncool

I do like Kuai Liang better as Sub-Zero over Bi-Han. And I don't know which one it's going to be in mk1. Several in game kharacters also admit he's better. Raiden admits it in mk vs dc in Sub-Zero's chapter, Cetrion admits it in 1 intro dialogue against Noob in mk11, Kotal Kahn does the same, Sonya does the same... even SCORPION does the same. Given the opportunity for them to be in the game Smoke and Cyrax would also likely do the same. Only Frost denies it, but she's just jealous.
On the topic that the studio hates Sub-Zero. Let's think whose past selves did get brought back in mk11: Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Raiden, Johnny, Sonya, Jax, Kano, Kabal, Kitana, Jade, Shao Kahn, Baraka, Scorpion... even Erron Black had a past self return despite not having a past in the time of mk9. everyone I think besides Sub-Zero. Other present kharacters didn't have a past for them to have a past self return or were just not playable kharacters in the game. Sub-Zero was both playable and had a past, but he's the only one (probably) to not have his past self return.

If i were to play devils advocate most of Sub Zero costumes were better than Scorpions. Examples being shaolin monks, mk9 and mkx. I don't think NRS hates Sub Zero, they just have no interest nor investment in making him interesting because he is basically just seen as side character in the NRS trilogy, which is why his arc in there is just bland
