800 Miles in DEATHTRAP Ford Station Wagon! Will It Drive to the Beach?

- Its time to try and drive this 1960 Ford Country Sedan station wagon to the ocean so that Jess can see the beach for the first time ever. Will it make it? Will we even survive? This was truly a vacation from hell. One thing that made it better was getting to visit @OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo - to say I owe that man a great deal would be an understatement.

Why don't you just fix your cars properly?
As Dalton reads this comment, he pauses....sighs.....then ponders to himself, "I wonder what Burt Reynolds favorite beer was?".
Pull the hose off of the vacuum wiper motor source, stick it into a container of ATF and work the wiper arms back and forth a few times or ten. Draws ATF into the vacuum motor and softens up the old grease...let it sit overnight, hook it back up and your wipers will work good-ish again!
Thanks for stopping by for a little visit, Dalton and Jess! Was def three of the best days of my life! You two are welcome here any ole time, and Rip totally agrees!! Great Video!!! A+++++!
Despite the "Vacation from Hell" label, you seem to be having a good time. And more importantly so does Jess. I hope you two are still having fun in part 2.
I'm a proud low buck club member and I've loved following this journey. Thanks for the awesome content Dalton!
What I enjoy most is listening to you and Jess riff off each other in a style I like to call "Good Natured and Pleasant But Barely Concealed Cynical Midwestern Smartass" - before life metaphorically kicked us both in the head, my wife and I engaged similarly. I miss those days. Hang onto that attitude as long as possible, you two crazy kids!
Thanks for not cussing a lot on your channel, because I’m in McDonalds near kids . I need to edit that out on my channel.
you could have done a whole video at that ctc place ?
Some years before Dad gave it to me, the '59 "Squarebird" was our family car. It had those Gawd-awful vacuum wipers too. We climbed Pike's Peak in that thing, in the days when the roads were barely a lane wide, and had nothing or only pathetic protection from the cliffs off the side of the road. They always seemed to be on the passenger side, where Mom was pissing herself in terror. The more the 352 motor struggled lugging up the hill, the more ridiculously sluggish the wipers were, and the harder it rained. How Dad got that thing up there and back without us all dying is a testament to the Man he was.
You don't make mistakes. You just strategically moderate adaptations.
Mrs Pole Barn seems like an absolute GEM. 😅 Good for you guys, making awesome memories together and great content for the rest of us👏🏻
Pretty sure families on new SUVs going to the beach passed you and thought "... oh that poor family... they must be having a horrible time...". The truth is your trip will always have more memories and they'll forget the trip.
"It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". Words to live by.
Might be hell now, but the memories will be worth it later.
Always have loved Dalton since Day One. No nonsense with a dose of sarccasim, spark a Lucky Strike, crack open a Twisted Tea, telling it like it is, no bullshit, and get to wrenchin'. A pole barn garage in KC, MO, on a budget, and shit gets DONE. Enough said, y'all.

Not gona lie, Ive thought many times about doing the "Make it run then road trip it" thing and well it scares me. Hats off to you for being able to pull these off!
I think it is VERY cool that you took Jess to see the ocean. It's things like this trip that people remember their entire life. YAY on you guys !!!!
