A few higher skill tips:
- Spiral slash (done by doing any direction + X) can cancel the endlag of the roundslash (X + Y) which is your strongest standing attack, so you can easily loop X -> X + Y -> L + X infinitely for quick high damage, but in most large openings always do perfect rush ofc
- Both perfect rush and the claw uppercut can be done from a sheathed state by unsheathing with RT to block and then instantly mashing dodge + LT for the claw or Back + Y for the rush (try this with frostcraft for huge damage)
- Perfect rush can be cancelled at any point by dodging to the side, which lets you do back + Y to start another pr letting you loop the first three strikes for higher damage
- When you mount a monster instead of doing the whole finisher, land the first shield strike, hit RT to hold on or wait a second and repeat, this lets you loop the shield strike until the monster runs out of stamina and deal HUGE damage while keeping it still for others if you're on multiplayer hunts
I agree that yes Sns can be used in elemental builds, and it can be very effective. HOWEVER. Raw Sns is just stronger, and in 99% of cases is going to be the better choice. This is because of how element damage is calculated on the perfect rush combo. The damage of perfect rush scales much more from raw instead of element. It's basically always better to just use a status Sns(usually blast) pre Fatalis. If you do have access to the Fatalis Sns then that is the best Sns in the game hands down, no contest. Elemental simply cannot compete with the sheer raw damage output that it has. It is straight up broken how much damage you can get out of the Fatalis Sns especially if you run Frost craft. On Alatreon for example it is possible for a single perfect rush combo to deal almost or around 5,000 damage in an optimized speedrun setup. The only weapon in the game that can kill Alatreon faster than Sns is the Hbg. Because of course it's the Hbg.
Yeah for sure, raw really is king for everything. I'm definitely gonna be making a Fatalis SnS, I'm so curious to see how crazy it can get haha

What raw weapon do you recommend ? I was thinking something like tigrex or diablos but im not sure what would be best.
@@yannickmorin6227 early game I think upgrading the great jagras one is pretty good. I don't really remember the upgrade path after that but, once you get access to Safi'jiva siege the Safi weapons are great for raw, also the best option pre Fatalis weapon is definitely the raging brachydios SnS. To fight Alatreon I recommend the frostfang barioth SnS.
SnS was the first weapon that I really vibed with. It can do everything and it's fun. Also like running a supportive build with it, healing my friends and kicking monster tail. I haven't used it in a while now, focusing on my second love, the hammer. Currently slapping monsters around with Dawning Tranquility. You can actually initiate the perfect rush way earlier on the backhop if you press it sooner. You dont need to wait for your weapon to charge.
Anyone who wants to put out serious dps consider using frostcraft on sns(velk y set). With perfect rush spam you deal 500+ damage per swing. Block into backhop from sheath, perfect rush, sheath and repeat, or roll then backhop again for more perfect rushes. Ignore elemental damage and go for high raw damage. Fatalis sns is obviously best.
You're mostly spamming advancing slash ans perfect rush but you put out some of the highest dps in the game. About as much as perfect play gs.

I'm a die-hard IG main, but I've been looking to expand my skillset to other weapons. I originally started with great sword and long sword, and eventually moved to the insect glaive. I had big hopes for the charge blade, but I found it rather lacking and slow for my preferred playstyle. However, after watching this video, I think I have found my next weapon.
SnS is very mobile and fast paced, I think you'll really dig it! give it a spin in the training area and let me know what you think

Can’t believe I actually like the weapon for the longest time it’s been switch and HBG as the top dogs but SnS joins the party, I’ve killed fatalis 5 times today 😂

@@LightItUpDan amazing weapon, still feel the switch axe is the don dadda with tool specialist 5 and consistently hitting the discharge is the no.1 as the damage output is ridiculous but I love the SnS

Yeah, I mention that in the video too that pre-Iceborne the jumping dive attack is the big damage dealing attack
So if you have free reign to hit the monster should you spam the charged perfect rush?
Definitely! Some people like skipping the final hit to try and get two rounds of PR out, but I don't agree with that. The final hit packs a punch and deals tremendous part break damage too
@@LightItUpDan Thanks for the advice, I think I wasn't properly charging it before as I thought you could only charge the leaping attack that shoots you up in the air. I'm more than a minute over the S-rank time in the first arena fight with SnS and I didn't know what I was doing wrong until now. Thanks for the advice.
@@7F0X7 yeah you can charge all three inputs for PR, you time it when you flash pinky-red!
You missed safi weapon which, when augmented/upgraded, is defenatly better than lightbreak sword for the QOL(Velkhana essence) and slightly worse dmg wise
I purposely don't go into the siege weapons because there's so much variation and setup involved, but you're absolutely right that they're excellent!

my MHW can't do Perfect Rush, is it because i didn't buy the iceborn ?

@@LightItUpDan Hey LightItUpDan! Quick question. I purchased both MHW AND Iceborne together. Whenever I do the backstep and charge followed by triangle, I end up doing a Rising Slash instead of Perfect Rush. Does this not count as me having/buying Iceborne? The only way I can pull off the regular attack is to execute a backstep and then go immediately into slash with triangle and Perfect Rush. When I do the charge, it won't allow me to pull it off. Most of the time I just end up doing the charge followed by the shield bash. Thanks again for all the videos and all the great job you do!
