    Cannondales are such a pain in the ass to work with

    Great tutorial Swabes! Just completed the job and she's running sweetly now. Couldn't believe how bad the pressfit BB30 adapters had got. Back to silky smooth now! Awesome!

    Great tutorial. Got a full 105 group set to put on my Cannondale at the weekend. I don’t have a bearing press however. I’m hoping I can get away with using the rotor bottom bracket thread itself as a built in press. Wish me luck😂

    it's exactly what i have to buy for my second hand bike. A Cannondale Caad9 with a BB30 bottom bracket. I already have a shimano 105 group set and i didn't know how to convert my bottom bracket. Thanks

    Very good video Paul - I'm just about to do the same on one of my Cannondales and wasn't sure which kit to go for, now I know!

      I am facing the same decision at the moment. So how's your kit going? Can you recommend it to me too?

    I have a caad12 bb30 - this Rotor crank i think its for 68mm wide crank? I think my caad 12 is 73mm ?

    I got synapse frame with an internal routing cables system. Does the rotor adapter have enough space for it? Thank you, great vid.

    Hi Paul, aren't there any spacers or wave washers needed with this particular bottom bracket?

  • @3d_art_ignacio202
    @3d_art_ignacio202 2 года назад

    That's what I did and now the creaks have returned with the problem that having used thread sealant it is impossible to remove it and being the carbon frame there is no way to remove it again and grease it

    Hello, can you replace the BB24mm cups or you will need a new completly rotor bottom bracket?
    thanks

    Great video, helped me a lot going through the process. As you said, after seeing - it was easy. Now when everything is in, I was wondering: shouldn't we put some grease on the bearings? Now I only added the loctite on the threads as indicated also in the instructions.

    • @Gertenbol1
      @Gertenbol1 4 года назад

      Asking is the question is answering them. I called Rotor and they said: it's no problem to put them in without grease. In case they start creaking take them out and grease them. Other way around it's also not issue they put them in greased. As a matter of fact, just do what you want :)

    Anyone I have bb30 and want to convert to 24mm trouble I'm having is my bike is cross threaded. Will the bb in the video work or does my bike need to be internally smooth not threaded.... any advice appreciated

    Nice video. If you want to take it out, I assume you unscrew the non drive side first and then tap out the drive side using Park Tool'sBBT-90.3?

    • @paulswabey1796
      @paulswabey1796  6 лет назад

      Thanks. Yes - that would make sense. Make sure you avoid the circlip that the press fit sits against though - just like you would when removing a normal BB30

    Great video Paul, easy to understand. Please can you tell me how do I remove it ?

    • @paulswabey1796
      @paulswabey1796  6 лет назад

      Hi Steve - ah - that's something I've not had to do as yet! My guess would be to undo it using a BBT-9 or similar. If you have two you could probably do this pretty easily by loosening off both sides at the same time. If your not planning on reusing it and one side starts to come out maybe a light tap on it will push the other side out? Good luck! Let us know how you get on

    • @RikHelsen
      @RikHelsen 5 лет назад

      you can unscrew one side and the other site involved a piece of wood and a hammer in my case ;)

    Does the pressed-in side cup rotate at all, as you torque down the screwed-in side cup? Do you recommend using two tools, once to rorate the movable cup and one to hold the pressed-in cup?

    Good video and anyone that thinks non machined bottom bracket sockets were a good idea is a moron. I have a square bottom bracket shimano $250 road bike with caged bearings that is silent as a banker stealing your wallet. I use thin Marine grease for my wheels loose bearings and bottom bracket on my cheap road bike. It is super quiet with no noise better than any $5000 bike I have tested.

    Paul, can't you just thread them in without first having one side pressed in? They come together anyway no?

    My Felt (2nd hand bike) didn't have circlips in the grooves. Are the circlips essential?

    • @paulswabey1796
      @paulswabey1796  6 лет назад

      Well, I guess not if Felt haven't fitted them. Normally the bearings would push up against the circlips as the are pushed in. However this kit should hold in place itself so while I can't categorically say you will be fine I think it's worth a try

  • @ianhunter1279
    @ianhunter1279 3 года назад

    Hi do you leave the circlips in place or do you remove them before install?

    • @selcukcilek555
      @selcukcilek555 2 года назад

      He says, "you will need the circlips", but misses to show if he reinstalls them. Can you see in the video if circlips are reused? Needed to show that they are.

      Hi, To be honest I made this video a few years ago so I'm not sure about the replacement bearings. I suggest checking with Rotor. As for the loctite, yes that might help as long as you're not planning on removing it for a while 🙂

    What size bushings on your bearing press do you need in order to push the drive side in? Thanks in advance, was a very useful video!

    • @paulswabey1796
      @paulswabey1796  6 лет назад +2

      kh2712 Thanks. Standard bb30 bushings. I think Park Tool call them #668. I'm using a Lifeline Bearing Press from Wiggle and they came with it. Hope this helps

    How does the extra width at the BB affect the chain alignment?

    • @angelbunny225
      @angelbunny225 5 лет назад +7

      BB30 cranks are differently designed than 24mm cranks, therefore the chain alignment stays unaffected. Those "extension" cups/adapters are kinda "built in" into the BB30 cranks if you could take a look at them, whereas in 24mm cranks there is no such extension and they are flush-mounted to the bottom bracket.
