The fact it gets around the same 0-60 as an m3 from the same time with 100hp shows how bloated the c63 chassis really was and the e92 wasnt exactly lightweight Dont get me wrong its a spectacular engine its just a shame they couldn't get the performance that it deserves out of it, the c63 is more theatrics than actual performance and dynamics
I think increasingly we are realising that theatrics is what we REALLY want from a car/engine in an enthusiasts road car. AMG understood this earlier than most. We now have electric family cars that do 0-60 in 2 seconds... but not many car guys dream of owning one. I have a BS, the performance is brutal enough, but more importantly the entertainment value is off the scale. I have an M3 too, but just no comparison in fun factor.
@@brucerobertson5919 yeah I get that, im sick of the 0-60 and hp wars instead of focusing on dynamic and fun cars but the C63 falls down there aswell, I own an E92 M3 and the way you have to rev it out for the power is so satisfying and the handling characteristics are also in a league above the C63, the C63 felt way more like a luxury muscle car than a sports car to me
Or, and here me out on this. It has the same 0-60 time because it has 100hp more and about 150lbft of torque more to put to the ground. But if you wanna talk about performance, the C63 Black Series did a 7:46 round the Nurburgring the M3 GTS did 7:48 2 seconds slower. Seems it does have actual performance.
Look, I own a 2013 C63. My problem with the black is that you can get all of the power and the same internals as the black with the p30/p31 pack and 1 tune to bring it up to 530hp. Yes the cosmetics are amazing and yes if you are on a track the extra cooling for the trans and diff and engine are very needed. BUT for everyday driving I would rather my C63 that is 100 grand less! The prices on those cares are mad. Great video btw. I'm not knocking you.
You sort of answered your own point... this isn't an everyday car. AMG never intended this as a competitor to your car (as awesome as it is). It's for someone that wants something rare and special to take out for an occasional Sunday blast, knowing they have the all-time ultimate incarnation of the C63. If you try to justify it only on a cold calculation of price and horsepower you're really missing the point of the enthusiast and collector car market. They cost what they do because that's how people (with money) feel about them. And if you think prices are mad now... wait a few years and you'll kick yourself for not buying one.
@@brucerobertson5919 Well put Bruce...04/2022 and prices of these are going up... Lucky for me my bought from new full Track pack car is parked in my garage...
between the M3, C63 and ISF I would choose the ISF, it sits between the german competition and depending on year it came with an LSD unlike the regular c63.
@M thats ironic because this gearbox is incredibly outdated.. this car would 100% be a much more special thing with a manual. Old automatics like this date a car way more than any manual. Just look at what happened to the E46 CSL which had a state of the art gearbox at the time.
They arn't really that good in terms of the engine. It's just an alloy block and forged internals. You can get over 550hp from an LS3 with just heads and cam upgrade. 600hp if you pull the bottom end and go 6.8L stroker (forged 4" crank, longer rods and pistons to suit. It would make more torque then the m156 (6.8L vs 6.2L) but just rev out a little lower.
You can get over 550 from an M156 with just LTHs and a tune, decat it you’ll get close to 580, Supercharger will see you close to 700hp without even upgrading the cams. The M156 is an awesome engine both as it is and modified there are few V8s out there that can beat it and an LS3 isn’t one of them.
I Confirm…v8 ARE everything
It has always been, and always will be my favourite AMG. Epic.
W204 C63 AMG Black Series any day 🔥🔥
The W204 is just such a good looking car, especially in black series guise.
Just got my 507edition running again about 1hour ago sooooo happy 😊
What was wrong with it?
@@sleepeatdrive7619 it was the electronic steering lock module that failed. Common issue on these so I removed it and fitted an emulator. Much better

Great piece! Love my W204.
Beautiful machine 👌
Don't need to watch the video, V8s are everything. Four pot hybrids are not
And no mention of a ‘proper’ manual gearbox for a change thank God.
