What a wonderful car! Being from that era myself, I’ve always been a Cortina fan. I was also visiting Pretoria back in ‘79 and was gobsmacked to see how well the older cars were surviving so well there (with almost no rust in the atmosphere). The first nice Ford I saw then was a beautiful mk3 V6 Cortina Ghia. Love at first sight!🙏
Im a 20yr old taking on my first engine swap and im struggling to dig up helpful information about the fe3 that isn't off of a 12 year old forum... Strange enough, this past 2 weeks there's been lots of FE swaps popping out of the woodwork.. Thank you so you much guys
Beautifully built 'tina - love it! Only thing I'd change... wheels. Just not working for me. Old school deep dish Minilites ? I think so... But it's all about personal choice. Car is CLASS..
Great to see an FE mazda twincam, I used to import heaps of these in the 90s. Great engine just un screw mazda badge and put the Ford one on. Mate it up to a mx5 gearbox ,great for escorts and sporty cortinas with small tunnel s. In Australia now these motors are hard to find . Nice cortina great FE twincam
@@philtucker1224 the mazda Fe and F8 and Fe2.2 were sold in many markets the twin cams all that was different was to un screw the maza badge and screw in ford. Gearboxes were available from B series utes or mx5 s or 929 rwd. The later being slim type boxes. The timing needed attention for rwd but fwd you could use a standard electronic fron the old Ford laser or 323. Direct fit. Some did this and sidedraft carbys. Others made a bracket off the front cam thru the timbing cover. In all a good engine for conversion. I'm looking for one in Australia for my mx6 gd 626 turbo 4ws F2.2. But they seen to have dried up. 90s they were every import wreckers . Back in the mid 90s I did a mazda 626 / telstar conversion the guy then went and dragged off his old RS2000 twin weber 40mm. The escort couldn't catch him and for half the then money
@@petergracemeguide1280 Hi and thanks, that’s really interesting. ( I guess I’d never realised that Ford and Mazda were sort of related in that sense…) cheers Peter
Such an amazing build and full credit. Such a shame it is driven on some of the most dangerous roads in Africa. Violent car jackings are a daily event in South Africa and I don't believe one would ever truly enjoy, driving their pride.
Sadly soon all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime (Bundesabgasbespassungsverbotsverordnung).
I just find these builds a complete waste of a car and time. No cortina mk1 could take 300hp the lotus was light and fast. This has brakes suspension , chassis, axles pretty much every thing changed. So it's not a cortina at all. Reminds me of yhe 80s in the UK when fools would put v8 engines out of sd1 or p6 in anything morris minors , escorts and the like. They were all crap but more to the point it scrapped about 3 or 4 period cars that ate now rare. Find an sd1 or standard escort. These things handled badly at 60hp.
The RS 1600 has 120 BHP And was a quick car in its day 120 mph 0 to 60 in 8 seconds is still loverly today and it handled brilliantly. The Rally escorts had about 180 BHP An they where very very quick.
Gotta appreciate this build....one of the nicest old school car builds, clean and stunning lil car. Props to the owner.
What a beautiful build
love everything about this car, it works well together.
thumbs up to the owner 😉

Beautiful car especially the clean, neat engine bay. A real sleeper

The lovely old 'Tin-Corner' ! In my late teens the 1500 was a dream car. I cant imagine it with 300bhp.
I love these Cortina's, right now wish I had one
Mad respect to the build and the builder. Even bigger respect to the beard.

What a stunning car , I had two GT,s back in the 1970,s . Wish I still had them both 1966 air flow with the 4 gauges in the dash and 4 door model .
