I’m not going to lie, DC made the reverse flash so petty that he became one of my favorite fictional characters, because of how hilarious some of the petty stuff he did are. It’s more dark humor like, but going back in time to prevent Barry from catching a ball, and pushing him down the stairs, just because, it’s hilarious.

Dc's biggest mistake imo was not making the reverse flash more of a doctor doom. Like him growing into a justice league level threat the events they could've done with him would've been insane(e.g: like carnage right now, magneto, the thinker, braniac etc)

I think what DC needs to do is just concentrate on making good standalone movies. Don't worry about creating a unified cinematic universe, just create a series of great standalone movies. Also, expand beyond Superman and Batman. DC has a large number of great characters that could be used. As an example, I'd like to see a movie featuring the detectives of the DC Universe, including The Question and Elongated Man.

What sums up one of my main problems with Marvel for a long time now is their lack of direction. It doesn’t feel like they know what they’re doing currently or what they want to do in the future.
They also do movie synergy way too much. There’s a ton of past examples that’ve been talked about before, but the most recent example that I know of is Ms. Marvel. She’s killed and in one of the quickest revivals I’ve seen, she’s made a Mutant and shipped off to the X-Men to fit with the MCU making her a Mutant. What’s the point of this? The X-Men are already bloated to hell with characters competing for panel time. Kamala will probably fall into the background of characters who barely get any focus or development. I don’t see how this could possibly benefit her character in the long run.
Edit: I don’t think the main problem with Marvel comics and the MCU is a lack of inter connectivity. The problem is bad writing. That’s the core of every problem with the MCU narrative wise. All of the Guardians films have pretty much nothing to do with the larger MCU, but I’ve seen a ton of people rate each of them as some of their favorite superhero movies. That’s because they have great writing with a compelling emotional core.
As for the comics, the problem with them is also bad writing and as I said above, a lack of direction. Jed McKay’s Moon Knight to my knowledge didn’t have much to do with the larger universe, yet people love it. Why? Because it has good writing and art.

I really love both Marvel and DC, but I think that Marvel really gotta get new people in editorial. A lot of decisions made ESPECIALLY in Spider-Man comics are being heavily influenced by editorial. I think they should give the writers more free reign over their own stories with minimal direction given. I really want them to just hit the reset button like DC does every 15 years or so to keep telling more unique stories that don’t have to deal with 80 years of continuity. That’s why I really loved Ultimate Spider-Man. The rest of ultimate was too weird and edgy for general audiences so I think they could do something similar to ultimate and just not make captain America allergic to French people.

Right now, I’m only reading Moon Knight and as a casual comic reader I don’t even know where to start at all with the current Marvel comics. On the other hand, it’s really easy to see Knight Terrors #1 on the wall and be like “hey I liked that character,” pick up an issue, and then all of a sudden start buying a punchline comic even though i dont even know who punchline is.

I think part of the issue is that some characters are just too powerful for the story they want to write, so they either have to exclude them completely, come up with some excuse for their lack of involvement, or hard nerf/plot bull-shite to make them lose to whatever big bad is the flavor of the season. Like what happened to Sentry during the whole Knull symbiote invasion. Sentry was supposed to be in his void fused state during that time period, but the writer(s) weren't caught up on the Sentry and didn't know that.
Then, with how powerful Sentry is by default, there's absolutely NO way he would've been defeated and subsequently killed so quickly. Hell, unless Knull suppressed his powers somehow, Sentry could've just reconstructed himself for that matter. Molecule manipulation on a level that can overwhelm molecule man is something he's capable of. So yeah, that quick instakilll from just tearing him in half made no sense.

The problem with having line wide events is that it becomes much harder to keep up as well as figure out the order that you're supposed to read them in. It looks good on paper because the fans of the central characters are likely to investigate the lesser known ones, but this only applies to the most hardcore of customers/fans. It does little in providing for the long term health of the series or their respective franchises. Line wide events need to be special rather than every single time. It needs to make sense for the characters to get involved as well. Green Lantern crossing over with Sinestro and the Green Lantern Corps makes sense. Batman being a candidate for the Sinestro Corps makes sense. Sinestro changing Corps ever other year does not.
This is one of the things that pisses me off about Spider-Verse in general. Spider-man is not a multiverse focused character. Spider-Verse worked when he was dragged into the Secret Wars or other things like it, but he shouldn't be regularly involvedwith that. He's street level heroics and the constant need to throw him into these multiversal events is detrimental to his storyline as well as anyone else involved because he simply does not belong. Characters like Doctor Strange, Magik, and others who are part of the Cosmic Marvel or the Multiverse makes sense to be involved.
What DC is doing right is by separating the crossovers into groups rather than line wide. Batman has his own events in Gotham that have his stories crossover with other Gotham based characters. On the other hand is the freaking Batman Who Laughs who was shoved into everything after Dark Knights Metal. He was in everything and everything was like a Batman sub-series. After that, they took a few year break to focused on more individual stories with the occasional crossover. That is the right way to do things.
X-Men keeps having threats to Krakoa and stupid gimmicks. They need to stop and start focusing on X-Men/Mutant based storylines. They fail to understand the nuances of symbolism.

It depends on the run I think, to date I still think Dceased, injustice and Metal were some of the best comics to come out in the last few years. White knight also has a place up there, but they keep adding to the lore. When it comes to marvel, it’s hit and miss, but Donny Cates’ Venom was truly one of the best as I believe it really redeemed Eddie as a character and gave so much more. I don’t know if I’d place it above Dceased or below but when both books were coming out, I made sure to read both as soon as they dropped.
As I’m writing this, I’m having trouble remembering what I truly enjoyed reading. Besides the Shang Chi’s and Moon Knight’s run, which I thought were good, just not top 5 good. The major avengers events just weren’t super memorable to me. I know there are people who like the AXE (I want to say Judgment?) event, but I found it kind of tiring to read through. There was the avengers forever run, which had a big event with the main run, while it was cool to see what they did with it, my excitement just fizzled out in the end.
The point really being, besides Venom, marvel hasn’t put out anything that was memorable imo. If they did, it was for something really backass stupid, recent Spider-Man I’m looking at you. Another possible decent story was with the second run of superior Spider-Man but they took some odd choices with the story and wrecked Otto at the end. (Though, with the new run announced I’m curious what’s going to happen)
Recent DC stuff doesn’t seem too appealing atm, so perhaps Marvel can pull ahead again, but we’ll see

I read Hulk, scarlet witch and moomknight. for dc I'm reading spirit world, city boy, superman lost, superman, worlds finest, shazam and titians. I use to get 10+ marvel books and maybe 4 dc comics. I've gone mostly indie and very close to dropping marvel and dc fully.

I am surprised that no one is talking about the Fantastic Four right now, Dan Slott finished his run last year in 2022 so now they are on a new volume in Volume 7, and this volume written by Ryan North is actually pretty good.
Also, John Hickman is writing a storyline called Ultimate Invasion of which the first issue recently came out. This storyline is bringing back the Ultimate Universe and this first issue I did not think it was terrible.
In conclusion, people are underrating the Fantastic Four right now.

With Marvel being a mutant seems to be the common way for a character to obtain superpowers. If you are a mutant and you hit puberty your powers activate. It not be the greatest superpower but it is stable.
With DC it is the metagene. One significant difference is that even if you have the metagene there is no guarantee that it can be safely activated. In order to trigger the metagene you have to have the right catalyst. Let's say you have a metagene that requires being consumed in flame to activate. Instead, you try to activate it by being hit with 100,000 volts of electricity. The result: The same as with someone who doesn't have a metagene. I remember reading somewhere that a common cause of death in the DCU is metahuman trying to have an origin.

This video is no surprise. Your channel has always been slanted towards DC comics for years. It's the reason I don't watch it that much. DC comics is dull and here's why...it's always about the "trinity" even in alternate DC universes it's about the trinity. There is never any true cosmic events out side of earth because superman or batman or flash always have to be involved. Marvel don't have that problem. They don't have to focus their attention on 3 main characters. This makes most of their characters more interesting. In DC only 3 of their characters are interesting everyone else is dull.

The problem with western comics is too many events, reboots, retcons and no real sense of continuity. I don't think Marvel or DC won't ever stop doing this but I think they should do more one shots that isn't related to their superhero universes or more "else world" stories as side projects. Be more experimental. Just do more self contained stories, i dont want run back and forth between tittles. There's a reason why manga is dominating the market.

I love the way I do it.
I can't keep up with comics because I don't really like collecting every issue. Tried it, hated it. So what I do is wait for the trade paperbacks. By this stage most stories have wrapped up. I then have the opportunity to pick up as many stories as I want without any potential filler or worrying about what they're gonna do next. I mean I'm about 12 years behind. Just starting on the first Ms Marvel series and just starting New 52. I got Flashpoint and am about to start the 2011 Batman series of comics.

Avengers has had a pretty interesting start, the incredible hulk seems good, immortal Thor is coming and straczynski on Captain America is interesting as well. of course im excited for ultimate invasion and GODS by Hickman that being said DC seems to be great right now im enjoying so many titles. DC seems to respect their main characters more than Marvel Spider-man hasn't been good for awhile but Superman is consistently good because DC respects the character.

I’m still disappointed we never got New Warriors by Daniel Kibblesmith. Now that it’s canceled I have literally nothing to look forward to from Marvel besides the facsimile editions of silver-age books, the era where writers were creative and didn’t make a million diet copies of Spider-Man.
