Happy Fourth of July Jack ! I agree with you. There are three terms that we hear Too Much thrown around these days in the church wolves in sheep's clothing, discernment, and lukewarm. We are to judge people by the fruit that they exhibit, not the works that they display and perform.
The fruit of their lips (their gospel message) is how we judge true & false prophets. That's how I understand that scripture. It's about the prophets. Just my two cents... Happy 4th of July! 🎆🇺🇲🙋🏻♀️
P.S. If we judge the brethren based on their fruit of the Spirit, we'd only notice their spiritual growth or lack thereof in a particular moment. Which doesn't tell us much. That's just behavior anyway, & even those believing in works salvation try to be loving & turn the other cheek, yet are totally unregenerated - so fruit inspecting is moot to see if someone's saved. It all comes down to the fruit of their lips, their gospel message. That's what I think.
