- It's the final podcast episode of 2021! Last week we looked back at the past year and reminisced about what some of our favorite moments were as well as some of our favorite gadgets. Continuing in that spirit, Marques and Andrew sit down with each member of the team this week to make a few predictions as to what we are expecting/what we hope to see in 2022. Thanks for sticking with us this year and next year will be even better!

You guys should do a collaboration with a math youtuber -- you can test various computers using the types of computations that mathematicians do. I volunteer as tribute.....
Let's get this happening!
Happy New year 🎉
An excellent idea
yeah definitely
Si
Thank you guys!! this podcast, the studio channel and of course the main channel, mkbhd, have led me to find a new passion in tech. Because im a "girl" I've never been included in tech-talk. i stumbled upon one of you videos, got hookt and now still watch every single video, listen or watch every single podcast episode and look at every single clips video. you guys are great.
Same, girl! Studying IT now myself, so Marques got me far.
Happy New Years to you guys and the team. Thank you for all the content!
guys this is so crazy! how is this already out today?! this, this i call dedication. amazing
thank you guys for the entertainment. The world would suck without youtubers
DJI’s new Mavic 3 quotes 48 minutes of battery life. I don’t know if it reaches close to that in real use, but I would bet it can last 40 minutes per battery.
As far as laptops v desktops are concerned. I do believe most users would be just fine with a laptop and a monitor if needed. Many users can get away with only an iPad, if they only browse the web, check Facebook and email etc. My employer is in the process of buying laptops and accessories for all of us that can work outside of the office. I think Tim is 100% right on his perspective. Most people that aren’t in to tech products are more than fine with a laptop. Most of those users that I know use laptops or tablets without complaints. I personally bought a new MacBook Pro to replace my desktop and haven’t yet had an issue. Since I do t game much, I haven’t found anything that an M1 Max chip can’t do well. I love the idea of plugging into a dock with monitors AND being able to take my computer to work away from my desk.
Last point. I think Nissan has a good chance of hitting the EV target of less than $30k and 240 mile range. I would love to see more Nissan EVs, including the rumored Nissan Maxima EV.
Yeah I have one. 40 minutes is about avg for me
Honestly I think studio Among Us would be hysterical and I’m down for that.
I would like this podcast to cover more complex tech topics (simplified for larger audience If need to be ) along with covering upcoming Tech news.
On EV topic just read an article that Hyundai is has started closing down its ICE engineering division. That all except a few engineers to do maintenance on existing engines, everyone else is being moved to various EV based engineering teams. So Hyundai is serious about EVs.
My hope for 2022 is companies expanding EV charging networks. I live in a small city about 150K population and one Tesla charging station at the mall and a few other small charging stations scattered around town. I say the charging network is more important to EV acceptance and growth more than the cars themselves.
I actually hope to see Apple’s take on AR/VR, see if they can once again get in and set the new direction/standard.
Also looking forward to Apple AR/VR- surprised they didn't mention it, especially when they could play a larger part in our lives than cars.
Thanks for the show 😀 keep up the good work
Something that keeps me tied to a desktop setup is the customization of peripherals. I love having a custom keyboard, an ergonomic mouse, multiple monitors with my preferred refresh rates and color science. I think one strength of the laptop format is its limitations, and that is also its largest weakness
this saved my day, thanks!
Whats up with Marques's beard, goatee, stash combo though ?! 😳😳😳😳😳😳
See you next year! I predict that WVFRM Podcast RUclips (because I'm visual) and Studio channel become as big as MKBHD because you guys have great chemistry.
IT'S CRAZY TO ME HOW VINH'S FACE TRANSFORMS WHEN HE LAUGHS. HE LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER WHEN HE LAUGHS
Sick year bois.
I’m with Andrew, I say Toyota first EV under 30k in 5 to 8 years.
I don't wanna agree but it makes a lot of sense
Despite being behind in the tech area, Toyota definitely has supply chain mastery, so that seems totally possible that they'd be there first. They also have a reputation for reliability (a least among my family), so have the ability to make such a car mainstream to people like my parents. My eye's on Nissan Leaf being first, though, since the mid-tier model is already $32k for 220 miles range
Heres hoping. Alright.
If they can manage to pull it off? It had better be good.
Y'all forgettin SUZUKI bruH. Suzuki and Honda might come out with cheaper EV's than Hyundai or Toyota.
I am looking forward to more from the studio and definitely another road trip, loved the last one you all done. Obviously I love the podcasts you all do. But I have a question for you, will the next iPhone come with USB type c or portless, because of the EU telling them that they have to use type c in 2022.
25:31 that was epic!
This podcast needs way more exposure
I agree. It primarily focused your favorite expensive tools. There are more important tech issues then the next over priced Apple laptop, drone, or ,EV. I love and listen to most of your shows, sometime more than once. Maybe it's due to the Holidays, this episode lacked content. You're still my favorite Podcaster.
Hyundai for sure. The way they are doing things right now is so unique and hitting all the marks. Genesis is apart of Hyundai so I'd look out for them too.
opening with the op-2 was the least expected discussion on this podcast ever but please we love synths here
Same clothes ;-) Thanks for one more episode.
Watching this after the Apple Mac Studio announcement is pretty fun.
2k22 here we come. Let’s go!!!
Speaking of you guys doing more collabs in 2022. I've said on another video, but i'd LOVE to see you guys collab with Kurzgesagt somehow someway. Do a "i do one for you, you do one for me" deal (those seem pretty common). They could do one of their usual videos on a tech topic and they have like an animated version of Marques and have him do VO alongside their normal host. Then Marques does a tech video about something that requires explanation/deep divey-ness, and you could cut to Kurzgesagt animated segments to help illustrate the point, maybe Kurzgesagt works with Brandon and Vinh to kinda get the MKBHD cinematographic language through in the animation somehow. I don't know, SOMETHING is there in that theoretical collab and it'd be great.
In india Tata motors have Tata Nexon EV which gives rough range of 200- 250 KM which cost 20k dollars. They have invested 10 billion dollars last year which is fully dedicated for EV manufacturing. Hoping they will improve on there range
I’m SUPER curious to see what happens with the Mac Mini in 2022. I hope Apple has a plan to make it a compelling offer, with a good spot in the product stack, especially with an iMac Pro and an Apple silicon Mac Pro allegedly on the way.
I'm super curious to see how they pull this off too. They really won't have a lot of wiggle room for where to price it and have it not cannibalize other Pro Mac sales. Like why get a 1700 iMac Pro if you could get a Mac Mini Pro and the new Cinema Display (or an LG Ultra Fine Display) for about a similar price. Or why get a entry level Apple Silicon Mac Pro when you can get a spec-ed out Mac Mini Pro and a display of your choosing and get similar performance for a similar price. I think they run a lot of risk of over crowding the product lineup. Having the 13" Macbook Pro and 13" Macbook Air is already redundant as is. M1 Mac Mini and a cheap display versus an M1 iMac is pretty overlappy too. I don't know.
Dude I'm pumped for 2022. Idk if this counts but I'm looking toward to Starship going to orbit. Marquez might end up being the first RUclipsr in space
See ya next year!
Nissan Leaf often gets overlooked - possibly because it's not a very flashy car - but I think it's the one to watch in the $30k USD / 240 miles range milestone challenge. The Leaf S Plus is already at $32k USD for 220 miles range
I agree with Andrew. I say Toyota. I feel like they're doing what Apple does where they test and test behind the scenes for years until they get it right unlike the Samsungs and Googles who release a new product and let the market work itself out. I see Toyota surprising everyone someday with a more attainable EV for the rest of us who are too logical and poor to get a luxury car like a Tesla.
Just wait until Toyota’s graphene battery investments pay off. Billions in R&D, gonna change the world.
@@Jst4vdeos i hear that!
It might happen, but sad that Toyota fought EV progress in every way they could.
@@renambot because it’s easier to keep things the way it is now. EVs are VERY hard to produce on the scale that they currently produce for batteries reason. Toyota sells about 9.5 million or more cars per year. Tesla has only even delivered about 2.5 million cars ever for production reasons
I don't know i kinda don't think Toyota will do it first. They might unveil a prototype first, but i don't think they'll reach mass production before Tesla or some of the other EV only companies might. Toyota and the other legacy manufacturers are all starting from scratch with battery production and EV production facilities while also having to worry about winding down their gas car production (the latter of which they have to do slowly and ween themselves off of). Tesla on the other hand has all of that in place already, the only real hurdle they have left is just ramping up production even further to meet the insane amount of demand they have. Once they do that, then price of production falls and prices of the cars come down because they will be able to order parts in larger bulk. I think Tesla/Polestar/Nio/etc will be able to do that faster than Toyota/Ford/GM can figure out all their stuff.
I feel good saying that this video was made last year like its been so long.
Yes yes yes.
Episode 96
Arguing couples.
would love to see you guys collab with Corridordigital and talk about cameras, would be a great collab, my hope for 2022
5 stack Valorant at the MKBHD studio, we're up for it 👀
Nice...
If we are speculating on collabs, I would love to see Kurzgesagt, a part of the team I guess, in the podcast. I'd assume that could be done but I dunno.
Other tech youtubers, maybe of smaller scale in "comparison", maybe like Canoopsy :)
I'd love watching MB playing games 🙌🙌
Wow, I need friends like this!
saw a polestar today, wasn't mad at it
You'll never see a $30,000 EV with that kind of range. The inflation of auto prices are going to counteract the tech price decrease so that you may see one that's equivalent with a Toyota Corolla but by the time you do that same Toyota Corolla is going to cost over $30,000
A mass-market phone with a solid-state battery would be a great development.
Used Market!
MKBHD playing gaming would be fun!!!
I love Michael "graphics wizard" 's. Take on desktop vs laptops.... I work from home on a laptop and thats my biggest struggle... Theres no separation..
Edit: please give us a studio video game session

Only way you're getting substantially better battery life on drones is by using fuels, or by using something like an aluminum air battery (not rechargeable, and not available in that form factor)
Everyone said apple or ev stuff, wanted more variety
It should be a crime to be this early
I did not expect this to be out today wow
right...this is dedication. crazy how these guys function
Why? They record on Wednesdays. Wednesday wasn’t a holiday
@@toptiertech7291 I forgot about that, but I was also kinda thinking that they would have taken the week off or something
My wish/prediction for this year is the turnaround of Windows to be competitive with Apple.
39 mins? It's 11:27 here at Philippines, do you want that I'm listening while New Year Countdown?
Video Games!! MKHB gaming~
This is a very unconstructive comment, but I only discovered the podcast in the last few days when Marques said in a video how many podcast episodes he did this year and I was like wait what podcast. That being said Andrew looked similar to what I imagined him as but, is it me or at the start when they introduce themselves does it sound like something is missing after “Andrew”. It’s like I’m expecting ‘Andrew-something’. Pls tell me I’m not alone
I'm not sure what you mean. Like you want to know his last name?
The new Mavic 3 is speced at 46 minutes, but I guess it doesn’t really get to that
Haul a camper for the next Electric Vehicle road trip. (with the trucks obviously)
Hyundai has already launched an EV in India for 32K USD...😀
They should make folding desktops...so they could be put in a bag..and we still get maximum power.
Marques should play Mortal Kombat....same initials MK....😉
Sub 30k
Man I kinda hope the smartphone computational photography doesn't make it's way into mirrorless cameras like David was saying. I want my camera to take the photo how I tell it to and to stay out of making any changes to it. Give me that raw file and I will take it from there. Or if it does come to mirrorless there better be hard and fast off setting for it.
Edit: Also I am on the same thing of my desktop is my desktop and I have a hard time letting go of that form factor. I do game a bit but it is mostly for work (architecture) and photography. Have thought about going laptop only but I have a real hard time giving up the price to performance of a desktop. I can't get a laptop with the same performance for the same price and the ones that come close I don't want to carry anywhere with me due to size and weight. Though the Asus dual screen laptops are pretty sick and could see myself getting one of those if they keep rolling with that design. Anything to get more screen real-estate while on the go as a single 15" screen is painful coming from a 34" UW and a 27" vertical next to it.
notch on the imac pro?
I am once again asking for an Autofocus on the Mach-e.
Mavic 3 has 46 minut flight time
Hey Google ... About that Pixel Watch
Spec Numero Uno🧐 - 1 Week Battery Life... The rest you could deal with in Firmware
DOOOO IT!!!
JUST DOOOO IT!!!
I own a Chevy bolt and it’s $30k with 265 miles full eletrcic.
I use a desktop for the bigger screens and its better to sit at a desk rather than use a laptop anywhere. posture wise its better.
Desktop over laptop isn't just about power.
It's also about upgrading without buying a whole new machine
Well, outside of Apple that's the case
You forgot to say ✌✌✌✌
I've gamed on the biggest tower you could get, the worked my way down to a mini itx tower, now I game on a laptop because it's the easiest way to get a gpu. I do miss towers tho
I just want more Framework Laptop/Fairphone like hardware...
tesla might be the first to ‘announce’ a sub 30k EV with 240+ miles of range but by the time it gets into production
hyundai or toyota would already be selling one lol
Pixel Watch happened 👍
Interesting! Nice video ✌️
...eciN
I want 6nm rnda 6600 xt baby
You should do a collab with jerryrig everything, maybe review his ev 😂
It's 2359 rn... Guess am going to have a "waveform year"
Andrew make marques play mario kart with the studio gang
dont sleep on volkswagen for the cheap ev guys
DJI Mavic 3 is 45 minute flight time….confused what Andrew is talking about.
I’d like to see a new Inspire. Inspire 2 is pretty old now.
BYD Will be that sub 30k and over 240mi range. I'd put $50 on that.
12:36 What did Adam say?
Sub 30k first electric car my "wild" guess would be nissan.
Try Destiny 2 with Marques.
My dream is that Marques starts a gaming channel. That would be hype.
You guys made predictions at the end of 2020, why not address those in this episode??
Interesting how Samsung was never even mentioned
“it’s mainstream now” meanwhile I literally don’t know what theyre talking about LOL
I believe the 2022 Nissan Leaf cost only $27,400. Although that's with only 150 miles of range but still super cheap!
I'm really pulling for Nissan to come out of nowhere in 2022-2024 with a killer sub 30k EV with actually decent (200ish miles) range. The Leaf was ahead of it's time when it first came out, and my first and current car are both Nissan so i have a little soft spot for them. if they actually put effort back into their EV program and got a good EV drive train and good batteries (either by licensing from Tesla or other EV manufacturer or by dumping a ton into their own R&D), i think they could make an amazing new Leaf sometime in the next couple years.
Honestly pretty great value long as you aren't trying to do long road trips.
@@VMYeahVN yeah the batteries are the only reason I wouldn't buy one now. If they had an active battery management system to heat and cool the batteries instead of a passive one the range and battery longevity would probably increase a lot. Right now the Leaf's batteries just don't hold up long term.
My Guess is Vinfast...
Ohh now watching this, the imac pro is not coming....
Do you think that mac pro will e awsome but no one will buy it coz it will be a over kill for everyone or will they discontinue it (as iMac Pro eill be more powerfull than before) or will thel launch a tower varient of iMac Pro(meaning Mac Pro having same specs as iMac Pro).
tata has already done 280 miles for 15k usd
But Tesla isn't a legacy car maker, wasn't the bet between legacy car makers?
I'll go for a laptop with a monitor
no op-2, th op-2 is an op-1 and a op-z together
Where is vinh from?
Where are you from?
