- Tower of Fantasy is an upcoming open-world RPG with anime aesthetics. The overall feel is best comparable to games like Genshin Impact. I got into ToF's closed beta test for 2022, so I figured I'd test it out and give you my genuine first impressions.
I had heard of this game beforehand, hence why I signed up for the CBT, but I did not research it much. I like to play games with as few spoilers as possible at the start. Therefore, I was genuinely impressed by a lot of what I saw in this game. It definitely has potential to create some competition for Genshin Impact.
Will it replace Genshin? Absolutely not. I genuinely don't think any other game can. However, this might be a game worth looking into, for those of you who enjoy Genshin Impact, but get bored after spending your resin for the day.

This game has so much potential in terms of gameplay , I love the fact that you can surf on water.
But I really hope they improve the models' look overall before release they all just look kinda dead and artificial and the combat animation is weightless
there's not gonna be any model or any other changes. this game is released in china, and beta only to test server stability, it's not like in genshin current beta tests where everything is subject to change, game that will be released on global is absolutly the same thats in beta test right now
The game will likely be supported but I think they should be more clear about their goals.
The problem here that this game is advertised as MMORPG and this tag isn’t correct. It has the same functionality as GTA or any multiplayer games rather than a server base game. If you put the perspective of an mmo. This game just fail the first post for what mmo in general like.
We don’t have open world mmo because the servers can’t load massive numbers of data at the time on top of lag and bugs that can’t be fixed because you have to log into area to do so.
The fact that this game is a cross mobile and PC is something kinda concerned because of the engine tech is too much different, especially since they have PvP on a cross platform game (which I’m pretty sure that is a thing otherwise you don’t make a game like this to work the same on both PC and mobile devices)
For most part, the community and approach between games are too different. MMO players do not want FOMO and P2W mechanics in their games, which Lost Ark is the proof of that along with how monetization have been going on around other games along with Genshin.
The other part is misleading information that game developers tend to give out to stress the playerbase or try to do shady practices. Which can bring toxicity to the game itself. It has been ongoing recently on gaming forums with how daily systems and filter things that ppl do not want to play for A B C reasons. One of those that relate to the content design and services around them. With this game is a gacha and has buying lootboxes, ppl might be cautious because of that, especially in the West where the anti monetization has been here for a while due to how gaming practices tend to get bad if a certain content fall into categories that require to put money in or require to sink time and limited time stuff.
The part that this game is trying to do every might need to be more specific about it, otherwise you might have another wave of players that attack the game on the release.
I think a lot of games like this having the fareshare lately when ppl point out the problems that relate to the communities they try to bring in and why it can become notorious afterwards. Technically Genshin got quite a huge backlash during the release but then ppl move away because they try to make it a multiplayer game and advertise a lot with online experience. If this game fall into that rabbit hole, it might become a counterpoint for ppl to push against any cash shop in gaming again or something about trying to make the game big for bucks thing.

All I wanted from Genshin was more multiplayer options, this right here will make me drop Genshin entirely if I can venture the world and progress together with my friends with no limitations.
@Eko the difficulty scales higher the more people in your world, so it’s most definitely possible
Honestly, they should make the boss fights harder, but enable an "Easy Mode" option after 3-4 tries. That way new players or unideal team comps can deal with the boss, and more experienced players can fight a hard boss. Or a "Murder Mode", where everything is 2-3 WL higher than you are, especially if they add the dodge/parry mechanic to general game-play.
Step 1 make one major coop dungeon every big content patch
Step 2 make it so it drops shards or token with wich you can eventually buy skins for characters
Step 3 make it endlessly farmable with varying difficulty where in very hard mode you would get more token drops
You get some hard dungeon to have fun in with your friends as much as you want. its not predatory toward f2p players because even if they cant clear the harder mode they can just farm the easier ones for longer and in the end the reward is just skins.

Idk if they mixed it but... I could never forget the time i went to play multiplayer genshin, and they didn't let me open a dor .__.
I do also think this would be a competition against Genshin. Genshin is still the first game doing the concept after all. Though with the current game state especially high AR players that mostly cleared the game... There is nothing to do except to farm if you have resin, finish events, and dailies (if they do spiral abyss that's an addition what you could do on Genshin lol). This game seems to offer a lot more than Genshin have so I definitely could see bored high AR players testing this out
genshin isnt the first to do the concept though? these kind of anime RPG games have been popular for a while before genshin! and you can say that tof is a bit different than tof since tof is an MMO afterall!

Mounts are needed imo for genshin, we just teleport everywhere and never get to actually see the world after the first time we explore. imagine running around in a mini Andrius, or smol Dvalin, or just a horse but not feeling the need to teleport everywhere because there is a fun not so slow way to move around would be nice. and let us summon the waverider at will ffs.

I feel like getting mounts would save me my loading time (PC player but internet makes it slower than mobile loading time)
Varka took all the horses in Mondstadt with him and left his cavalry captain (Kaeya) behind for some reason (Kaeya's salty about it). When we get Varka we get horses, I imagine.
@Eko Whatt..boring? i think it's the opposite. it will definitely help world exploration + immerse players into the genshin world. We can also have fun in co-op racing or something lol. You can still use the waypoint if you don't have time for exploring
@Eko Then you can still teleport. There being an option in a game doesn't mean you're required to use it.
Mobility is an incredibly important fun factor, this game is already better than genshin in exploration since you can actually move for more than 15 seconds without having an asthma attack.

I already quit the game, left a week ago. Definitely trying ToF out, it looks much more appealing compared to Genshin right now.
Well Hoyoverse also is taking a break from Genshin and releasing new games pretty soon, lots of new stuff to try

Unless they change something drastically from their existing original one, well, the disappointment is going to be the same. I want Genshin to have some serious competition as well so that they would finally have a reason to better their game and address things that would make players quit, but sadly I dont see ToF doing that based on how poorly it achieved the same on it's official launch.

Congrats on 100K! You deserve it! About the complex movement thing, I think it’s kinda fun to just bounce around.
I love the way the pity system works in this game. It doesn't reset if you get an SSR before 80 pulls. I got 2 before my 80th. And then when I reached 80 it was my guaranteed one. So nice.
Tbh it’s way more like Honkai Impact (really reminded me of APHO 2 with the controls, Relic shards are like character fragments, every character has their own matrices that are obtainable thru gacha which are pretty much like stigma),,it has its own touch in it which I really like.
I really like the interaction you have with other players and the ability to create teams and crews,,,I made some friends thru that :D And you can always ask people for help with for example world bosses because they’re a big pain in the ass lmao
Honestly seems like a pretty good game, It definitely has potential and I personally love the small details, The jetpack being both a booster and a glider (If you click the jetpack while in the air you can use it as a glider) is a really nice touch

I've wanted to play a game with a similar playstyle to honkai for a long time now since I love the fast-paced combat. I tried pgr but it feels rather repetitive so I'm REALLY excited for tower of fantasy and I love the idea of switching between weapons in combat.

i think the hardest part about these new games is none of them actually have a stylization i enjoy. genshins anime esque style is very pretty and i haven't found many games that have replicated or done similar enough for me to consider dropping genshin. genshin's design and style is just breathtaking and polished in a way these other games don't have, probably because many aim for this futuristic style instead. tower in particular feels like a weird mashup of honkai in the worst way since i've never been fond of honkai's stylization either lmao.
It's really a preference kind of thing for the most part. For me all of these games just have that anime style. It's going to be varied depending on how they design for the most part, Mihoyo have their distinct style for their characters and others also have their own too.
@@AzariusR i mean u said only true shit lol but i disagree, genshin has a very unique style compared to these games coming out that are meant to "rival" it. the medieval ish setting and not the sci fi setting is one of the main reasons i find it more unique for what it is. honkai isnt even open world either for example and has a dif stylizatiom than genshin. im sure theres similar to genshin out there but not necessarily for free, im more interested in starail actually but that doesnt seem to be open world either lol! but the style is somewhat closer to genshin
Star Rail is in between of Honkai's futuristic Tech and Genshin's Medieval setting. I mean it literally is in the name, there aren't trains that go to space or anything. But if you mean medieval kind of anime game yeah they are quite few, even something like Gran Saga is not exactly the same style like Genshin too.

Meeting other random players in the world is not necessarilly a better multiplayer experience. My worst grievance with mmo is having quests requiring player to farm some mobs which are global and respawn once like 15 minutes.
Unless they implemt NGS' s system where mobs killed by other players count as yours just by being near them.
@@xenosnake Yeah it's not exactly a good move anymore to make things on a respawn timer on a map especially with how much Solo players there is nowadays. It's just not possible to not have hoarders who'll camp the spot for 24 hours if it is a good boss drop etc.
The game reminds me of a show I used to watch as a kid with robots fighting and some weird stuff with rebelling because everyone got controlled through the government
I loved playing aimed shot Amber (and Razor) in Genshin, so this game having that plus mid-air jetpack aimed shots has me hyped as hell
They definitely gonna nail this if they implemented raids and dungeons properly, that is a lot of stuff to do.
For those who watch Yu-Gi-Oh Arc V, in the Synchro dimension there's a top duelist named Jack Atlas who has a mech wheel as a motorbike. It looked similar to the Dust Wheeler TOF has. Kinda cool it reminded me of it.
I want to play this game so muuuuuuch.... I think it could be even more fun for me to play, just because I love customising my own characters
I feel like they Fr took notes on genshin and are starting out with the simple things we all want. Hopefully they will be largely open to the communities wants.

So far, from the clips I've seen, the main character has actual voiced dialogues and talks all the time while the annoying, useless fairy looking sidekick has zero and does not hog screentime. That already gives it an up fron Genshin in my book 😂 👍

Now that I think of it, it’s more like Honkai than Genshin. So much stuff looks just like Honkai, the double jump, the aerial attacks, double and even some of the characters and attacks are scarily similar. This just can’t be a “Genshin killer” because almost nothing can kill Jenshin at this point

Well it is not a genshin killer, it is a MMO Rpg with much better endgame which genshin still don't have. Genshin always will be a special game in my heart and a casual game for me until they try to implement more advanced features and most importantly provide the game with an endgame activity.

By far this is my most favorite game
all the stats that you can upgrade, along with the equivalent of constellations for the weapons (especially since they gain stats and a passive with it) have me a bit worried that this will turn into a pay to win nightmare later down the line if you don't start early. maybe they will have a more generous way of farming the black crystals so we can get more than 10-15 pulls in a single month. also no guaranteed for rate ups that I know of so far? then again I haven't watched the whole video so maybe I will learn.
Actually is pay to win ,i already play , character and artifact both has constellation ,and artifact look like honkai has 4 set need upgrade each constellation

Well I play Genshin mainly for it's story and aesthetics. It's evolving story only gets better with each update. I doubt there's any game yet to actually surpass Genshin.

To be fair, honkai was made by mihoyo way way before genshin was launched. In fact it seems unfair to compare honkai's story with genshin considering its barely been 2 yrs since the game released.
And the in-game lore is pretty well written only problem is that it's more tell than show which can probably throw off any person who is not interested in reading long texts of dialogue (I don't mind cuz it's really interesting to piece the lore together and I don't mind reading as long as it's interesting.)
The best part is how honkai and genshin and the other mihoyo games are gonna have interconnecting storylines in the future (hence the new name hoyoverse)

You can't even consider tower of fantasy as competition when it looks this rushed and unpolished, and as much as i hate to admit, but genshin has set the bar way too high and ToF is really struggling to keep up with the level of polish and quality control GI has achieved, even pre-release. ToF failed to attract a big audience in CN and if they don't give it their all and polish the game before global release then it's over for ToF, fingers crossed. Game has potential, love the idea. Rushed and unpolished execution.

Tbf it is a small studios first game. When mihoyo made genshin they were already banking on honkai. Same situation with paladins and overwatch. The small company is gonna have a less polished game.

@@myokyaw320 Tencent has no control of quality look at all their other shitty mobile games, they are a publisher not a developer, either way Hotta is a smaller studio of the COMPANY who made perfect world (strangely enough named perfect world too), whether or not they worked on something they are a small studio that is indie in the sense they are new to games, or at least modern games. Give em time they will learn and by the looks of it they will probably really try to care about players opinions if they fear the chance of game death. Also to my knowledge this is the first game they are making and it’s the studio them selves not the company. If wrong lmk it’s just weird seeing everyone thinking tencent=polished rich game

you want your movement to be super fast, bouncy, and fluid, in an anime game because we as fans love the bouncy bouncy boobs, the super fast high paced acton, and the fluid movements that just make you feel cool
so any game that can do all that and gives you freedom on how you look is a massive win

also world chat would be cool for Genshin, would mostly save having to find answers to your problems with searches.

As Perfect World has already sold its western business to Embracer Group, a new publisher was anointed for Tower of Fantasy’s global ambition. Enter Level Infinite, otherwise known as the new publishing label for Tencent Games.

The character customization looks amazing, it seems like they put a lot of work into that. Unfortunately, I'm not really looking for a MMO to play.
this games is not really a genshin killer but it is indeed genshin competition, also, i'd say in terms of aesthetic I actually find it similar to honkai maybe even pgr. i will definitely try this out and I hope I'll be able to juggle tof, honkai, and genshin- also i hope it'll be available on console someday since although my phone can definitely handle the game, i doubt that I'll have enough storage in the long term hahahah

I will give this game a go, but it's kinda funny that it lacks all that things that I fall in love with Genshin Impact, and on other hand I see a lot of things that pushes me from games in Tower of Fantasy.

Competition can create quality similar to how controversy can create cash. Playing these kinds of games are my favourite and I'm happy to see it's growing. First one I played like this or genshin was Lego Universe and that only lasted a couple years lol
