@DavidDouglas-q7v My buddy was watching it in Iraq. He's a Scout/Sniper, so when they got to the part where the SAS guys couldn't run the M82, but the EOD guys jump on there like it's their job, he got so pissed off that he ripped the disc out, broke it in half, and literally taped the shards to an IR strobe that he no shit used to mark a target in combat. That was his review of Hurt Locker. Siskle and Ebert gave it two-gunships-up! 🤣😂🤣
Yeah, old T.B. was Tacti-Cool and carved out of Holly-Wood! HURT LOCKER is what industry people sporting the latest Melrose hip-kit fashions consider to be "True".
There's a lot of surrealism in Jarhead. Much of it would be lost on Americans used to a more sensational, propagandistic style of war movie. It was not meant to be a recruitment tool or "realistic". Rather it was a personal account on the tedium, frustrations and insanity of war.
$97 million was just the cost of making the movie; it doesn't include distribution and theater profits. Typically, to make a profit, a major movie has to earn box office revenues of three times the cost of making the movie: about $293 million in this case. Apparently, "Welcome to the suck," refers to the movie itself.
Hang on... I just saw your most recent video about war movies neglected at the Oscars. You listed this movie as REGRETABLY not being nominated. What gives?
Hurt Locker is orders of magnitude worse than Jarhead.
I know, right? "Old Tool Bag" had every EOD guy in the military laughing at his wire-pulling antics... ;)

Fell asleep during it
What a crappy fake film has zero redeeming features based on a pathetic self-serving book.
There are some embellishments in the movie that grates on your nerves, but the tedium and endless waiting described rings true.
Finally the first time anyone other than myself admitting to how horrible this movie is.
Somebody made a few Jarhead sequels that were more standard action movies .they may have been unoficial sequels but using the Jarhead name.

what combat, the coalition built up 800000 men for the invasion and 250 died, it was a parade
Jar head is a Hollywood version of the war and the military.
The way things are now a days veteran has become equated with victim.
Bad eye sight need caps!
To be fair Nate Fick was not present for Gulf I….I believe he was in high school.

The film title hurls too.
Disagree 1000% Jarhead is great.
Yeah I agree. But obviously there was not enough power-ups, bonus content and re-spawning for those who think CoD is what real war looks like.
IT IS A MOVIE NOT HISTORY A BAD MOVIE YES BUT A MOVIE,WHAT ARE YOU COMMENTS ABOUT RAMBO FILMS?
The movie marketed itself as a true reflection of the war. It was not. That's what we Marines hate about it.
