  • The best pot cozy I have found for backpacking. Still holds in the heat really well when cooking up your meal. It also allows you to have a slot for your cookpot handles. A truly great pot cozy. No need for the double wall.

Genius! I really like this design. I actually went backpacking with a guy that used this exact design and it worked well. OK, it was YOU I went backpacking with. But it DID work well. I think I'll make one, too. :)
You are clearly a very clever, intelligent and ingenious person. It must run in your family. I'm not just saying that because I'm your brother... OK, I might be...

Congrats on making your first cozy! It is an essential piece of gear for me at this point. I will NOT go overnight without one!

So glad you like it! Having the ability to put the pot in with the handles out has been great. Have a great trip!

I’m making cozies for the Trangia pots and they need to be tight so they’ll fit, but the good thing is I have a pot grabber and don’t need to worry about the handles at all (cuz they don’t have any)

Just made one with kapton tape instead of alu foil tape. Lighter and looks tech 🚀🛰

I bet that looks cool! I will have to try out that tape next time. Thanks for the tip!

Yellow pot cozy? Alright I can’t say no till I try it.
I want to make mine like the Soto Navigator - with a black tissue outside and a strap to hold my pot as a bowl

There was a video by Outdoor Station showing showing why the Double Pot cozy is more efficient than a single, keeping the pot near boiling for at least an hour.

The double cozy is more efficient, but I have not found that it was necessary. My food will stay too hot to eat for almost 30 minutes. I'm lucky to wait 15 minutes! :)

@@backcountrycuisine6226 very much depends on whether you're cooking or rehydrating I guess.

@@happygardener28 Totally, I always bring my food to a boil and then put it in the cozy to rehydrate. No burning that way!

Bad design if you want to drink the juice out of the pot. Still like Dixies better. Plus when make the lid deeper it doubles as a bowl to hold your Mountain House meals bag. You just set the bag in the bowl so it holds the hot bag

To drink out of the pot, I lift the pot just a little, but I agree that I miss having the extra-large top. I like that this design has a little less bulk. I like the use of the lid as a holder for bagged meals. Thanks for the ideas!

How come people use pot-cosys allaround the pot? Wouldn't it be nice if you had a hole at the bottom? This way you could warm up the pot while having a pot-cosy around it. Then use put the lid at the bottom once you start eating.
But maybe I'm missing the point, since everybody encloses the entire thing?

Yup, melting is the issue. I will sometimes leave the top on my lid when I am heating it up, but unless you have something melt proof, you don't want it on the sides.

Maybe if you used carbon felt instead of Reflectix?

In the old days, I just covered the pot with my fleece jacket. Why not just put it in your sleeping bag or jacket...I mean even when using the cozy....it does sound like the cozy would do it on its own, though.
