Hi Lee oh man sorry to hear that, with injectors I don’t normally go by torque settings for that exact reason as the threads are so small and the bolts are so weak. I just use a 3/8 ratchet and do the bolts up by holding the ratchet by the head with one hand and do them tight rather than 2 hands on a ratchet. That way you can over tighten or strip the threads as your holding the ratchet with the smallest leverage point. I’ve never had an injector leak and I’ve never stripped one. What mileage is your engine on? If it’s below 200k it might be an idea just to replace the cylinder head.
Got my ASZ engine in..is there a generic map for these. I went and asked revo remaps and they won’t touch it. I’ve left the pd130 injectors in & kept my old 105 turbo
Hi Nathan love the videos!! wondering if you can help me, will be doing the same swap soon just wondered if any mapping / coding was needed after the conversion with now having pd130 injectors ect
Hey, nice to see your project progressing. I am literally in the middle of a gearbox swap (5->6 speed manual), be careful with the remap if you plan to do that on your ASZ, the gearbox is not really made to take a lot of torque and eventually it will fail.
Hey Richard thank you for the comment. I totally agree with the remap on the 5 speed as I’ve read a lot about torque killing them, my plan is to have a remap but a super soft one. Let’s say it’s 105hp now the max I want is maybe 140. It goes alright now I just want it to have a better map than factory really, better on fuel and just a hair more power if needed.
@@levispartan1993 Unfortunately the t5 uses a different gearbox than the car (They are different shape and form and geared differently). I believe the 5 speed is originated from the t5 2.4D, whilst the 6 speed is a completely different design. As my foggy memories tell me it is possible to swap a TDI to the T4 together with the gearbox, it is not an option for the gearbox (at least not plug-n-play) in the T5. I actually happen to have a 5 speed fabia and and a 5 speed T5 2.0 TDI gearbox side by side outside I can show you the differences if interested. Well, I could actually show all 3 of them (6 speed T5 bitdi box) and compare them in a video if interested.
Stumbled on this channel, I love the little tips and tricks you share, you have great knowledge. Question- I have a 2010 t5.1 carevelle DSG, only 50k on the clock. When I am driving around town I can hear a low gas pressure noise, not loud, sounds a bit like a steam/air sound. When I parked up the other day, blue/grey exhaust smoke expelled from underneath the engine area. Only has done this once, it looks dry underneath, turbo is only two years old and clean. What do you think it could be?
Hi bud thank you appreciate the comment 👍 is your van air con? Do you use it? If so next time you hear the noise turn the ac off and see if the noise has gone. Had a a few customers recently ask that and that’s what it turned out to be.
@@YTDTETV Hi yes it is AC, however I very rarely run it as it’s freezing over in Northern Ireland. However I will put it on and off tomorrow to see if there is any difference. Thanks for the reply 👍
I see you mention about the oil cooler being different on the original engine compared to some ASZ engines, I assume by what your saying that they aren't interchangeable. Loving the clean engine bay too 👌
Hey guy 👍 I think it’s all about the noises and feel with mechanics, just let’s you know something has seated nice or is in square. Appreciate the comment 👍
Sadly I have just bought a T5 that now needs a new engine. I'm wonderful what the costs are to supply and fit . Or is it possible for for someone with no mechanics knowledge to fit the new engine
Hi bud sorry to hear that, so the engine is a straight swap with only minor modifications needed so someone with half decent skills should be able to do it 👍
Hey Chris thank you maté hopefully the video is useful I just bought it from eBay, was around £100 just type what turbo it is then the word chra as that’s what they are called for some reason 👍
Very interesting indeed.... I have an 05 transporter at the moment with the 2.5 axd engine. The engine is out and in bits at the moment because a piece of baffle plate broke off in the sump and wreaked havoc on a few cylinders. I am getting a quote for liners but am now wondering what would be involved in putting a pd 130/150 into the 5 cylinder model. Any advice 🤔
Hey James I see so many horror stories about the 2.5, to fit the 1.9 you need the engine and gearbox as your gearbox has a different bolt pattern, engine loom and ecu. It’s a fair few parts but the 1.9 is so much more reliable than the 2.5. Hope that helps
Just want to ask i have 1.9 cdti sri insignia was driving and engine locked up took belt cover off and looked like belt had jumped 13 teeth 😢 so sent it to garage said bottom end has gone told oil seal and oil pump must of gone and locked engine up that what caused belt to jump qhen it locked i had this car a week its has 87000 miles what would it cost to sort rufly ? Also the rear engine mount is hitting the turbo, did you have this issue or are there different turbos for the pd130 as my fitter is saying there's 2 different types. Thanks again for your help
Hi finished my asz swap today in my t5 axb.. it won't start do I need to put my axb injectors in or should it start with the asz injectors I haven't swapped the out? Any help appreciated 🙏 thanks
Hi bud it should still start on the 130 injectors but will run abit lumpy and Smokey, is the fuel filter definitely full? Does it fire up on abit of easy start? Have you got an code reader? Check see if you have RPM signal while cranking. Did you have to do the block mod for the crank sensor or where they the same?
@YTDTETV thanks for the reply I plugged it in it says injector problem no signal? I didn't try Easy Start ill try that now.. fuel pumps priming it's cranking but winter fire up has plenty of fuel.

That way you can over tighten or strip the threads as your holding the ratchet with the smallest leverage point. I’ve never had an injector leak and I’ve never stripped one. What mileage is your engine on? If it’s below 200k it might be an idea just to replace the cylinder head.
@@YTDTETV engine is on 180k, done the head gasket 5 years ago. I’m looking at a ASZ engine tomorrow (time for an upgrade)
Got my ASZ engine in..is there a generic map for these. I went and asked revo remaps and they won’t touch it. I’ve left the pd130 injectors in & kept my old 105 turbo

Great video.. did you use the standard t5 gearbox?
Loving these ones! The t4 series was awesome too!
Hey bud thank you glad the videos interest you 👍
Hi Nathan love the videos!! wondering if you can help me, will be doing the same swap soon just wondered if any mapping / coding was needed after the conversion with now having pd130 injectors ect
Hey, nice to see your project progressing. I am literally in the middle of a gearbox swap (5->6 speed manual), be careful with the remap if you plan to do that on your ASZ, the gearbox is not really made to take a lot of torque and eventually it will fail.
6 speed 02m are good
Hey Richard thank you for the comment.
Is that the car gearbox? They are very very good.

I know you done this a year ago but did yiu have to change any of the wiring?
I'm going from axc 1.9 85 to a pd130 asz engine
really good work! thoroughly! what was the old 1.9T5 engine code? mine is AXB can an ASZ be used for this purpose? Kind Regards desperat t5 owner!!!!!
Hey bud thank you 👍 mine was the axb to so yes the asz engine is what you should look out for 👍
Stumbled on this channel, I love the little tips and tricks you share, you have great knowledge.
Hello , what car is the ASZ engine from ?
Please answer :)
Well done!
Regards :)
Hi mate great vid I did this conversion on my t5 best thing I ever did what did you do about the dip stick? Did you keep the asz dipstick in?
hey bud thank you appreciate that, Yes I left the ASZ dipstick and just cut a small piece out of the front engine mount.
I see you mention about the oil cooler being different on the original engine compared to some ASZ engines, I assume by what your saying that they aren't interchangeable.
Loving the clean engine bay too 👌
Hey Brendan yes they are interchangeable 👍 thank you
A, FODONK and a SCOOSH I have these when i do Engines , it use too be miniscule but that went out years ago . E38 Guy.
Hey guy 👍 I think it’s all about the noises and feel with mechanics, just let’s you know something has seated nice or is in square. Appreciate the comment 👍
hi nice job 😊 do you know it's possible change engine t5.1 caa to vw sharan asz?
Sadly I have just bought a T5 that now needs a new engine. I'm wonderful what the costs are to supply and fit . Or is it possible for for someone with no mechanics knowledge to fit the new engine
Hi bud sorry to hear that, so the engine is a straight swap with only minor modifications needed so someone with half decent skills should be able to do it 👍
Excellent video, must of watched about 30 times, any chance you can tell us where you got the turbo core from? Thanks
Hey Chris thank you maté hopefully the video is useful I just bought it from eBay, was around £100 just type what turbo it is then the word chra as that’s what they are called for some reason 👍
You made a massive job look so easy
Thank you mate it did take a little while but got there in the end 👍
@@YTDTETV thanks for getting back that's good advice 😀
got some stance coiloves if you want them? they are used obviously...
Hey Daniel thank you mate appreciate that 👍 I don’t want to lower it to much just a little drop on springs will be enough. Thank you for the offer 👍
I know it needs cambelt kit new oil pump and oil seal thats in the sumppluss bottom end and probably valves as probably bent if pistons smashed into them. And where are you bassed. What oil filter housing and rear mount you used? I see it differs from asz and axb
thank mate really enjoying this series AH YE
Hey James thank you mate appreciate that 👍
Hi Nathan
Great video .
Could you tell me if the engine has to be from the fabia vrs or will the atd beetle engine work as well?
Thank you
Hi bud thank you any 1.9pd will fit it’s just a case of some having an oil filter housing that pokes out more you can see the difference just looking at them. Both engines fit but the bigger oil filter housing ones need a slim Line radiator fan instead of the oem one.
@@YTDTETV thank you Nathan
I was wondering did the turbo piping on the metal pipe side and the other side end up ok?
Also I was thinking about all the sensors . Ie crank and cam and it other sensors .
Should I just swap them all over .
I lm asking a lot of questions but this is my first attempt at this and it’s daunting . I’m just a diyer.
I was also thinking of just mapping the injectors rather than dig in there so I’m gonna look for a file or take it somewhere to do it .
I hope yours turned out well Nathan
Great video what turbo did you end up using I no you reused the housing looking great so far
Hey Karl thank you 👍 turbo is a GT1749VA from the pd 130.
Great video, so thorough. Its It just a daft myth that those pd heads can't or shouldn't be skimmed?

Hi I'm doing an asz swap from a golf. Apparently the oil filter housing fouls the radiator fan did you change yours. Cheers Simon
Hey simon so you must have the asz with the larger oil filter housing, there’s 2 types and unfortunately they don’t fit either engines. I’m pretty sure the oil filter housing clears the rad fan but it is close. You can still use the engine it’s just close to the fan.
Think I've got a full original suspension setup off mine, will pm you mate

Great video again. Love all the step by step explanations. Is this going to be up for sale when you're done? If it is I'm definitely interested!
Hi Chris thank you for that mate really appreciate the comment, so it is possibly for sale when done. The mrs likes it but we don’t need another van we have 3 already,
How’s it mate? How would you remove a stripped head flat head bolt behind the heat shield on a mk6 GTi ccz engine
Hi bud is it possible to weld a nit over the snapped stud? That be my first choice.
Hi mate how did you solved the issue with the kinked boost hose tho? greets
Another great video thanks for showing👍👍
Hey Stephen thank you mate appreciate that 👍
Hi, sorry if it has been asked before, firstly is there a difference in the oil pick up pipes and Did you have to swap the rocker cover and inlet manifold for the original ones?
Hey bud yes the dipsticks are different and I couldn’t get the new tube out and didn’t want to damage it so just stuck with the new one. Ye I fitted the T5 rocker cover, I think the inlets are the same but just incase I did fit the T5 one to.
YTDTETV thanks for replying! Great video. We're doing the conversion and seem to be hitting loads of problems, it's the oil pick up pipe I mean not the dipstick, we took the sump off the old engine and then scrapped the rest of the engine as we didnt think anything was needed, looking at the original pipe it looks the same as the pd pipe but is there a difference?.
Also the rear engine mount is hitting the turbo, did you have this issue or are there different turbos for the pd130 as my fitter is saying there's 2 different types. Thanks again for your help
New subscriber, A1 content. I'm riveted - keep up the great work 👍

@YTDTETV crank sensors looked the same so put in my axb sensor
@@pauljames7399 have you definitely got the injector loom plugged in right on the end of the head? It’s the big round plug. When you plug it in check to see if there’s an RPM signal to confirm the crank sensor is all good.
@YTDTETV yeah I did the looms plugged properly ill check the needle thanks
Did you go from a brr to the asz if so did you need to drill a hole in the block or just swap sump ect
Hi bud mine was an early one so didn’t need to drill a hole for the crank sensor, just swapped the sump etc

Hi mate,
Goto say attention to detail is a1, a man after my own heart.
My BRR engine has just died so in the middle of doing this swap myself. Did you have any issues running the asz turbo? With the vacuum side of things? Regards Anthony
Hi Anthony thank you for the comment appreciate that 👍 the asz turbo is just a vacuum actuator the same as your old one so just push the line on in the same place and it will work 👍
I explain what I done to the Downpipe on the next video
@@YTDTETV hi mate, was only asking as I read somewhere that one was a push and one was a pull actuator but thought they both run on vacuum so can’t see how they wouldn’t work.
Thanks mate 👍🏼

Hi mate, in regards to the coolant pipes to the oil cooler, where did you connect the second pile to as the asz doesn’t have the coolant outlet on the block like the brr engine.

Is the only difference between the golf asz engine vs the Fabia asz engine the oil filter housing
Yes 👍 apart from that they are identical, you can use the golf asz engine for the conversion but the oil filter housing does sit close to the radiator fan but it does still fit.
