I have both the Optimus and Megatron. I have some of the same criticisms as you do... but more with Optimus. It took me forever to get my Optimus to stand upright in a natural (non-dynamic) pose without his posture looking wacky and like he was pushing his stomach out/back arched. The lack of mobility in his ankle rockers is also a frustrating point. And to me, his fingers look freakishly long. With Megatron, my only annoyance was his loose Elvis hips. They are both phenomenal figures and I will be keeping them, but it truly does seem like a different creative team was behind each of these releases.

He can be a bit weird to pose for sure. He and Megatron both have loose torsos and tend to wanna slouch a bit.

This Optimus looks better than the Megatron.
I like the updated and stylized Optimus from ThreeZero, but this is one of the best looking G1 Prime.

Hey, I have this figure also, I noticed that when I slightly unplugged his footpegs, he was able to stand in a more dynamic stance.

I'm waiting for their eventual release of shattered glass version. I got megatron. Once their release soundwave and the seekers... I'm selling my mp tf. I liked these way more.

this is one figure I wouldn't mind for them to repaint the crap out of.

That does look cool. Shane about the ankle rocking range of motion. It looks like a good scale. Is it 10-11”? There’s a bigger one I’ve seen that fudges in with 6” figures a bit. I’m tempted to hunt that down. It definitely looks more cartoony than this one. I have a feeling with the confirmation of Joe/Transformers movie crossover the larger scale non transforming figures are going to multiply. I mean there got to be a Prime and Snake Eyes posing together someone is going to make. I have cautious optimism it will be a good story in film. It works alright for comics. Of course the first Bay film is pretty much a Joe/Transformers crossover already. I just wonder how Snake Eyes battles a gigantic transforming Jet. Seems a bit one sided. He’ll need a laser sword.

That’s the Pengu Toys Optimus Prime. It’s an OS KO of the Magic Square third party Optimus Prime. I’ve thought about getting it myself because of how well it scales with 6” figures.
The Yolopark figures are about 8” tall.

Hello Mike thanks for sharing your thoughts on this new Optimus Prime model kit.
I haven't collected Transformers for quite a few years, but Optimus and Megatron look amazing together.
And the fact they each have some great accessories is wonderful. I believe Optimus has Megatron in gun form is from the episode that Starscream and Dr. Arkivile went to Cybertron waiting for Earth 🌎 to explode. Optimus put the power core in Megatron and fired it into space and it blew up near Starscream.
Thanks again Mike for taking the time to put this video together for us. I'm sorry I'm behind on videos, lots of stuff going on. Take care of yourself, Tom

You’re probably right about that. I had that episode (it was a 3 or 5 part miniseries I believe) on VHS as a kid, and I wore out the tape watching it.

Good review and video. Personally I have a hatred of Transformer figures that don't transform. Kinda goes against the spirit of the whole thing.

I used to think that way, but as I get older, I started to appreciate that they have a specific character design in robot mode, and that there is a place to appreciate that design without the need to compromise it with an alternate mode.
