I live on Orkney so It was strange to say the least when I stumbled a'cross'ed "Wish you were here". Would never had guessed or expected Orkney would make for such a decent apocalyptic backdrop.
The series definitely makes good use of the area. Also if you happen to check out my newest video where I do the backstory for Jackson I apologize for my s*** Scottish accent. 😆
Haha the Orcadian accent is a far cry from sounding typically Scottish but your attempt is admirable. If the world goes to shit, I think I'll make a point of avoiding the small island of Cava 😆
I consider Wish You Were Here not only one of, if not, the best Crossed stories, but also one of the best damn comics out there. Admittedly, there is some iffy writing towards the end, and art can be a bit weird, but that doesn't halt just how good the writing is early on. Shaky, while certainly a halfwit, does a pretty good job at playing as the average Joe while still being incredibly memorable, and the villains are pretty damn good surprisingly. Its realistic, but not too much, if that makes sense. Definitely do agree with your guy's criticisms. Anyway, can't wait to hear your guy's discussion of later issues/volumes!
Shaky isn't an idiot, he is just a lucky lucky cu*nt. His plans smart, sneaky, like a snake work until Aioleen or Jasper or some random crossed comes across and fucks it all up.
When I first read the crossed comic book series I honestly considered it to be nothing more than overly edgy hyped-up gore porn. It felt like every single page and every cover especially was a where's Waldo of murder. I kept reading it though because I thought that there had to be something actually laudable in terms of story to be found in this I mean it's not like any company would just decide to let this thing go to print and not actually give it a once-over because if they did I honestly don't think any company would actually allow this to be put to the printing press. But when I stumbled across wishyouwerehere I found exactly what I was looking for a proper character examination at least in my opinion of was like for normal people to be on the brink of the end of civilization and especially from Shakey's point-of-view a man who is no hero how he doesn't even count as a freaking second-stringer. We see everything from his perspective of survival of someone who isn't the hero a normal everyday man whose life and job skills before the event of the Cross offers no help in this new world. Out of everything in the entirety of the crossed series wish you were here is what I consider one of the greatest things ever written. However I will not deny in crossed + 100 the greatest moment of crossed cunning hatred I ever saw is the part at the very end involving what could only be called a fog machine that uses the Flesh of the infected as the primary source of fluid to create the fog. That was one of the most disgusting at the same time most creative tricks I've ever seen the crossed pull-off.
Wish you were here and + 100 are definitely two of the standout series within the franchise. Spurier's work on wish you were here is absolutely fantastic and he did an excellent an admirable job taking over for Alan Moore in volume 2 of + 100. Both are really excellent explorations of character and great utilisation of the world that's been created for the franchise.
Imagine if The Crossed Virus happened in the Berserk Universe!!!💀💀💀💀💀 if it Doesn’t make Berserk an even Darker Universe to live in than I Don’t know what Is? I wonder what would Happen?
Yes. While there are some things that happen some other stories that enrich the reading of wish you were here. There is nothing that is mandatory in order to understand its story or characters.
@@nerd_scum Cheers guys. I'm getting all the others so I may hold off starting wish you were here. Did Crossed badlands stop at 100 issues? Tpb vol 17 I think?
This is how I was introduced to Crossed, it came out my freshman year of collage
Having a guest was a good way to talk about this kind of book 👍

Just reread it after 5-6 months. I really liked it. It’s pulpy and fun but well written and well drawn
Really one of the better crossed releases
The dolphin bit…oh, man.
…The Aristocrats
It felt like it was both too early and too late..
This video deserves more attention than it gets, your channel as well
Thank you
This whole time I thought Shaky was trying to NOT go on the sortie. I feel like an idiot now 😂😂
I was right there with you when I first read it. The story is very well written and constructed to lead you to that conclusion.

Hey guys.
Can I read these wish you were here books without reading any of the other crossed titles?
