Perhaps she's to scared to because she knew what he was capable of? Another part of me would say that she should have been imprisoned for not coming forward years earlier and that would have put the child's parents and family at rest knowing their daughters killer had been brought to justice. Some families would have gone hunting for their child killer especially the brother's of a baby sister. Had police not done something sooner! But then that's taking the law in your own hands. But saying all that. Forgiveness is the 🗝️ Yes it's hard to forgive. But its only way to move forward

He actually confessed to at least one other murder and even told them the location of where he buried the victim, but a series of events occurred to where they never dug around the property. It is actually now a restaurant in Miami.

Eileen isn't buried by her grandfather, that is her uncle, her mother's older brother. Sadly, neither of Eileen's parents lived to see their daughter's killer brought to justice. Her mother died in 2002, and her father died in 2008.
And for him to talk like that in court with no shame, playing cat and mouse, he’s evil!! The jurors should have did the right thing

This case is especially tragic because it kept on being put on the back burner. Of course, the ex wife became an alcoholic out of fear and guilt of being silent for so long. At least the pig Bowman died in prison. RIP Eileen. After forty some years, justice was finally done.
Margaret had many opportunities to go to police about this .like if they went to a store etc...she could've ran away at anytime & get help
R.I.P. Both Lt Bradshaw and Elieen were taken too soon. Wilbur, at only 26 years young. I'd guess he was killed in action as a pilot, during WW 2. Eileen, murdered by a psychotic pervert, at just fourteen ...

Only 14 yrs old bless her…..shame on the woman who saw her in the cellar and DID nothing to help her..not even an anonymous phone all to the police. Poor child was stuck there for two weeks! I feel Mrs Bowman needs some form of punishment too….but it’s too late now.
I hope she is resting at peace, and never has to meet that animal in heaven…I hope he burns in hell for the things he did.

In a society that treats even the worst of murderers with extreme leniency, releasing them quickly or sometimes not even arresting them, I am not surprised people are scared of talking. Would you talk and lose your life for a stranger who's dead already? We need to change the "justice" system and reform it completely, but I doubt it will happen.

If you’re referring to the US, I would love to know which “worst of murderers” were treated with “extreme leniency”. Just so you’re aware, the wife came out later and said she lived in denial about what happened for years and finally reached a breaking point. She left/divorced him on her own accord too and they were friends after point as well, where she continued to work at the company he owned for awhile until she found another job.
Her life was threatened along with their daughter, would you have said something with a threat that serious with how demented that guy was he probably would have found a way to follow through with that threat, fear is a powerful thing.

I live in Ohio. I was on a jury years ago, in the late '80's. I think it was manslaughter. At the beginning of our jury meetings, this one lady sat there & told us she would never convict anyone. So even after listening to all the evidence & sitting through the trial, she refused to convict him. So a mistrial was declared. The judge was ticked, I was ticked as were a lot of other people. I was a lot younger & dumber back then - not sure how I'd handle that these days.

😊Omg such a sad story. What pain that poor young girl must have gone through wouldn't want to imagine. And for the case to go on for so long. The poor family never knowing who killed their little girl is beyond pain. I can to a certain extent understand his wife not saying anything at the time because of being scared as there was no witness protection at that time but i myself would have told police and maybe because it was murder he would never have been released and she may have been put in a safeplace with her daughter. . As in 1996 when my husband almost killed me and was hospitalised for 3 months. Not even when I came out of hospital I myself had to grab my 2 children ( not his children ) from a friend and move far away without anything or any help. I had lost both parents no brothers and sisters. I couldn't tell anyone where I was. I had my own home which I worked very hard for and business I had to leave and start again as he got every penny and my home. I'm now disabled because of the injuries and been alone since 1996 never had any relationship because I'm to scared . I know how a person can scare you and having a baby probably made things worse for her not knowing how to cope and where to go. I pressed charges against my husband while I was in hospital but he then tried to kill my eldst daughter by trying to run her over had to drop charges as police said they would only question him and let him out . They wouldn't do anything about it. But the law changed 10 years ago to late for me but not for many others. You probably won't have time to read all this but I've managed to get some of the pain out. I m from S. Michigan. Only 2 yrs. Older than this poor girl. I never knew or heard of this, but then I was rather young at the time!😢I would like to say to all who are holding the mom responsible, that the creep threatened her with killing their daughter!!!!!!!! If she turned him in!!!!!
That is true about the first 48 hours. My uncle was murdered back in 1977 and still remains a cold case unsolved. The police department told me they would not even look into it now since it's old.
There is no expiration on murder cases. If any DNA is involved, it may be solvable.

@@firebird_spleen4190 Women's shelters are a fairly new thing, and if the police were even called for a DV, they just told the abuser to take a walk to calm down. If the victim actually told someone about the abuse, she was usually told to do her part better. Even after the abuser is dead, it takes years to believe he's not going to just pop up at her. Before you reply, stop and think about how I might have this insight.
