How? And why now? She was already in office and had time to make changes yet nothing from her.
Less than $30K/year...I live on $20,300/year and almost $2200/year goes to Medicare + copays. And I am so much better off than a lot of seniors in this country. It's not a reflection on how hard we worked over the years. It's about how much we were paid to do that work. A very different thing.
My mother is surviving on much less, and she does not qualify for Medicaid. The migrants are doing much better than her right now.

You should move to a wealthy blue state like New York. I'm disabled with SSD and Medicare. My annual income is around $70k. The state pays my part D premium and all copays and deductible. I have medigap supplement G, $450/mo. Premium is also paid by the State of New York. I live in a very low-cost region in the Western part of the state. I would NEVER want to live anyplace else.

Including hearing, vision and dental care in Medicare is so important to so many of us.
Elderly could only get dentures because could not afford dental work.

I already pay more taxes for not having kids. Im a 32 year old black man. who migrated her as a 19 year old. Im already penalised for not having kids. Im not bitter about it. I understand. but to marginalise us who don't have kids in that way is distasteful.
It's not really penalizing you or taxing your income at a higher rate. It's more like if you took some of your income to support a child, who can not earn income for themselves, then YOU should not have to pay taxes on THAT portion spent on the child 😊
I'm for everyone to pay a fair tax. I have 3 kids and pay my fair share in taxes actually I have them take more out just to make sure they can't hit me at the end of the year. The child tax credit is a joke you get 2 thousand for a year of taking care of a kid that cost already a lot. I mean on an average year I spend over half of my take home a year on providing for my kids if it be food for lunch to paying for a trip to new school clothes. The other half pays my rent and bills. I pay more in taxes then my boss pays in personal and business taxes
Trump said to give tax credits of $5,000. Kamala, not wanting to be overshadowed, said she will give them a $6,000. Credit. Every policy the Democrats implement turn on themselves, then come election time, they want to fix the problems they created. Also Kamala wants to try controlling the cost of goods, this causes empty shelves, and Bernie's favorite , people waiting in line for bread. Communism fails the people every time.

Our economy struggling with uncertainties, housing issues, foreclosures, global fluctuations, and pandemic aftermath, causing instability. Rising inflation, sluggish growth, and trade disruptions need urgent attention from all sectors to restore stability and stimulate growth.
Things are strange right now. The US dollar is becoming less valuable because of inflation, and other powerful nations waking up to trade in their own currencies. Good thing is, a lot of people still turn to the Dollar because of the safety is somehow assures. I'm worried about my retirement savings of about $420,000 losing value because of these factors and more. Where else can we keep our money?

I am a Canadian in Ontario and I have had some illnesses the last half decade that would have left me destitute, if I lived in the USA. All I pay for is medicine, and even that is tolerable. I would sooner travel anywhere else in the world, than ever visit the U.S. because of the failing medical system that is there. Medical care should not be a privilege.
You'll get no argument out of the 90% who struggle with health and finance issues here. It's a nice place to visit, sometimes, but not if you get sick.

Re: JD Vance and his call for credit for having children: And what about that tax deduction YOU get for having kids, now, and ever since they were born?? It is called "Dependents" on the IRS 1040. Regardless of your income, you get a deduction off your taxable income for every dependent child you have. Childless taxpayers do NOT get that deduction. And folks in a certain income category, get an even bigger deduction. Obviously, JD hasn't been doing his own taxes since forever. Either that, or he is just lying to get attention.
His smart wife must do his taxes.
You confuse deductions with EXEPMTIONS. Dependents that reduced taxable income used to be called exemptions. Trumputin's tax "reform" did away with ALL exemptions in 2017 and replaced them--in theory--with a doubled standard deduction which equaled the taxable income reduction of the taxpayer's exemption and that of TWO dependents other than the spouse. This only benefited taxpayers of any filing status who had fewer than three dependents under age 17. Prior to 2018 any taxpayer could claim exemption for as many legal dependents as they supported. The fairy tale was that an increased Child Tax Credit, created in 1997 under the Clinton administration, would compensate for the increased taxable income by reducing the TAX dollar for dollar. But the CTC is now reducing an INCREASED taxable income over the one pre-2018, even if both AGIs were identical.

Yes, indeed we do. Americans also pay taxes, just as high as we do. They also pay about $10,000 per year for private health insurance.....and STILL HAVE COPAYS AND DEDUCTIBLES!!! And they can't go to any hospital or doctor....they can't choose because they have network lists of participating doctors and hospitals. The system is TERRIBLE and so are most hospitals.

Most of the women I worked with had children, even the women from the greatest generation worked after their kids were in school. Now with housing costs so high, corporate greed causing high prices, the wages not keeping up with inflation most families need two incomes. If most women are working, some women are going to be in positions of responsibility and power. And of course some people ( you need a man and a woman to make a child) will choose to skip having children, especially when our system does not support child care, or education for all. The cruelest side of his comments is that many people have fertility problems and he voted against IVF.
