The K-line NYC Hudson is my favorite with the Tennessean coming in a close second. That Acela is pretty sharp too! Thoroughly enjoyed the video! Bill B.

The Hudson locomotive is burned into my mind as the ideal of a steam locomotive. I don't know why since I never was a passenger on NYC in the 40's nor have I ever owned a model of a Hudson, but its proportions and power are an icon railroad history. You have a great collection, RJ, and it's interesting to see the models you prize most.

Just found your channel. The word "impressive" comes to mind after watching this video...impressive layout, impressive collection of trains, and impressive young man running the show. Kudos to you! I will check out more of your videos in the near future.

I love both the Pennsy and the NYC, never cared much for the juicers, I like steam and diesel, especially the NYC steam

Living in the northeast and riding on Amtrak a lot, the electrics have certainly grown on me.

1 guy in particular ran PRR and then PennCentral into the ground, effectively ending the NYC legacy. Dreyfuss Hudsons and Berkshires are my favorite steam engines, but Prairies and Atlantics are underrated in my opinion.

@@rj.trains I mean, I am a New York Central fan myself and my general attitude about Pennsylvania railroad locomotives other than the streamliners are “meh”. I actually like the GG1’s electrics and all of the Pennsylvania streamliners (especially the Pennsylvania torpedo, and most definitely the new Pennsylvania T1 being built.) but I honestly like the Pennsylvania GG1 in the Amtrak phase 1 paint scheme a lot more than the Pennsylvania Railroad paint scheme. That being said other than New York, central. I have to say that I like Conrail and Amtrak quite a lot. to be honest, I am always speculated a fanciful little what if as to what it would have looked like if the New York central survived, but the Pennsylvania collapsed like Penn Central did. We very well could have seen the New York Central‘s rivalry, with the Pennsylvania turn into a rivalry with Conrail.

I hate to break it to you but the G5 was a Pennsylvania RR engine. The PRR owned a good chuck of the Long Island RR and a lot of their smaller steam engines were used on the Long Island RR

Oh man, this came out two weeks ago! HOW did I miss it?
Better late than never I suppose. Oh well, on to business.
Fun video RJ! And a fine selection of engines, no doubt! The GG1? Now how can anyone not love an Art Deco delight like the GG1? I mean come on, it looks like it was popped out of a Jell-O mold! How cool is that? I never saw GG1's in operation BUT I did see a number of them in Penn Central markings at ( I think) the Ivy City engine terminal in Washington back in 1975. Not being a railfan I had no idea what they were, I just thought they were cool-looking old diesels! What did I know?
The Hudson's a classic all right, but I have to admit I actually prefer the look of the Mohawk. Can't tell you why, I just do. On the other hand I LOVE the Dreyfuss Hudson and DO own one of those!
Ah, the Tennessean. I think it was David P. Morgan who described the downward curve of the engine's running boards as reminiscent of the grand staircase of a Southern plantation house. He wasn't far wrong.
And that "Steel Rails To The Sunrise" (I'm borrowing the title of a Ron Zeil book.) tender marking on the G5 just isn't to be beat, what a great aquisition on your part! Just a beautiful model!
Um, I have to admit the Acela leaves me a little cold although it's a great model. Just a little too "avant garde" for a steam freak like me.
My own personal favorite? Well I'd have to use the criterion of "If my Chugger Barn was on fire and I could only save one which one would it be?" After giving it some thought I'd say it's a Post-War Lionel 224. I don't run it all that often but it was a Christmas present from a now-departed dear friend. It was the last Christmas we saw him as well. I could replace pretty much everything else but I can't replace that one, it's too special.
Anyway, a great show RJ! Thanks for posting!
