    Denver traded the farm and broke the bank for Wilson out of desperation after Rodgers snubbed them and they had already hired Hackett. The new ownership knew they had to make a splash signing at QB, so they were willing to give Wilson anything he wanted as he was the only brand-name veteran available and they had to save face with the fans. They were probably hoping that the regression he was already showing in Seattle when he arrived could be magically turned around by a first-time HC. It couldn't. Classic rookie owner move. Welcome to Walmart.

    • @LdyVder
      @LdyVder Год назад +32

      Wilson was traded in March 2022. New ownership didn't take over until August 2022 about 3 weeks before Wilson signed his extension. The announcement they were a going to take over happened in June. The new ownership is the ones who offered Wilson all the money, but they were not the ones who traded for him thinking the regression wasn't really happening. That was the previous owners.

If I remember correctly, Carrol and Lynch weren’t getting along and it was almost like Carrol wanted a pass play called to keep Lynch from getting the MVP of the game. I’ll never forget thinking that after that call, that’s how stupid I thought it was for Wilson to be passing there.

    My guess is that over the last few years, Wilson has been a little too concerned with the Russell Wilson BRAND as opposed to just being a great player (which he was). I suspect he has surrounded himself with sycophants and yes men who never took him to task when needed. 2020 quickly proved that NFL defenses could figure out how to turn off Russ's oven, demonstrating Pete's previous offenses were better suited for Wilson. Wilson's poor performance where he had more input pretty much just shows he needs the classical coach/qb dynamic.
    Oh, and it should also be noted that neither Rodgers nor Wilson have won a superbowl in almost a decade so their methods are not winning ones.

Which I hate the position he is in because when he returns to his old self and starts playing better. Everyone is going to give Sean the credit and not Russ. Yes the Broncos needed the right plays called which Hackett's system wasn't Bronco's style nor Russ style of play.
