It's been tough the last few seasons. I don't think Russell's heart is in football anymore.
It was going to be a tough season anyway. Russ was 6 - 8 last year, the team was 7 - 10 overall.
And injury nothing. They were 2 - 3 after losing to the Rams, down 16 to 7 when he broke his finger. They weren't trending up.
@California Dreaming Eason was the number 1 kid out of U Dub flopped in college a below average pro. Its rebuild time behind a poor offensive line and poor gm.

Seattle sports has had a lot of superstars that they’ve either traded or lost in free agency in the prime of their careers. Ken Griffey Jr., Alex Rodriguez, Randy Johnson, Ray Allen, Earl Thomas. They drafted Kevin Durant, then 10 months later, the SuperSonics moved to OKC and became the Thunder. And now they’ve traded Russell Wilson in the prime of his career.

Wilson might be better then what they have but he isn’t better then Rodgers, hence why Rodgers was their first choice. Does not have to be a rebuild. Remember the Rams. This gives them the ability to go get whom ever them want. I always felt Russell's salary kept them from doing what was needed.

@@jasondousett3620 From what I read, Drew Lock is traded to Seattle as part of the deal. Mediocre QB at best, I think he starts for SEA as a placeholder for a draft pick (which I hear they get a ton of from Denver now).

Seattle needs to draft everything but QB and build that team up for a QB coming out in 2023 and hit the ground rolling.
Doesn't work that way. Most high round QB draft picks wash out. Took Hawks 40 years to find Russ, a third rounder. Many teams have struggled to find a true franchise QB for years. It's not that easy to find and "hit the ground running". So dumb. Rebuild could just be the norm for Hawks for another 40 years.

As a Seahawks fan I'm sad to see him go but the team is in a huge need of a rebuild and what they got for him was like somebody entered a cheat code.

Wilson and Rodgers sit at the center of the ultimate payroll irony. Thus, it's a QB's League, and this means that star QBs demand huge contracts. Yet, so often when they receive those contracts, their team declines because of the inability to retain other key pieces of roster talent.
