Watch @POCruisesAustraliaChannel beautiful Pacific Explorer arrive back into Sydney harbour after more than two years away from our shores.
The government imposed cruise ban ended yesterday, April 17th, and just one day later on Monday April 18th, the gorgeous Pacific Explorer sailed through Sydney heads.
Join me as we jump onboard a catamaran and sail over to the entrance to Sydney harbour and watch as Pacific Explorer appears on the horizon.
Returning after over two years away deserves a spectacle - from tugboats with water cannons, helicopters and a variety of boats from big to small, it's safe to say that Sydney put on a world class welcome for the very first ship to return to our waters after the cruising ban.
Pacific Explorer will spend the night at the Overseas Passenger Terminal before moving to Sydney's White Bay. Her first cruise is scheduled for May 31st, where she will embark on a 4 night cruise to Brisbane return. She will take the title as the first cruise ship to utilise the brand new International Cruise Terminal in Brisbane.
I hope you enjoy the video!
Thanks for watching.
Amazing, beautiful to watch, wish we could have been there in Sydney to see it but am so grateful you have posted this. YAY CRUISING IS BACK. ♥️♥️♥️🚢🇦🇺
You’re so welcome - such an exciting time! 🥳🥳
I got a lump in my throat and a tear in my eyes when the ship's horn sounded. 😂
Tell me about it… lucky I was wearing sunglasses 🕶 😂
Sydney Harbour and Circular Quay is finally complete after more than 2 years devoid of cruise ships. Welcome to the crew of this ship and to the many who will follow in the coming months.
Couldn’t agree more!
It was so moving to watch live...I will relive the moment again..thankyou.
So glad you enjoyed it 😄
Congratulations!!! I'm from the United States and have been on 2 cruises with a third cruise booked next month. I will never take it for granted again. So excited that you will be able to cruise again!!!
Thanks Sandy! We’re finally joining the rest of the world - late but better than never 😂
Enjoy your third cruise next month! 🥳
Well done Adrian and well done Sydney for turning on such a beautiful day to welcome the old girl back and doesn't she look great. Thanks from across the ditch.
It is great to see her back our old girl too I was there when she came to the OPT this morning it was a magical moment
It couldn’t have been a better day for it! Such an exciting morning 🥳🥳
Thank you, Adrian. I cried happy tears watching the video. I am going to be a mess on the 31st.
Haha I think we'll all be a mess on the 31st. So exciting!
I was out of Sydney today & was unable to experience the excitement of the arrival of Explorer. So thank you very much for this fantastic video of such an exciting & perfect day.
Thanks Richard - I’m glad you enjoyed the video. A brilliant day all round 🥳
Great footage of a momentous occasion, thank you Adrian. My husband and I went on some of the last cruises is Australia in 2020 and we are booked on some of the first Brisbane cruises this year. YAY!
I'm a veteran #health professional who knows (unlike much of the public) that the #pandemic is far from over. In the last three and a half months Australian #Covid #hospital admissions have been higher than ever before (let that sink in!!) - and thousands of Australians have died. Many of my colleagues are not able to work due to being being sick from #COVID19.
Despite fed and state govts reducing #Covid19 health protocols, #hospitals have been overwhelmed with Covid patients, and *so-called* elective surgery has been cancelled (meaning that patients with, for example, life-threatening cancer and cardiac conditions are missing out on vitat surgical procedures to save their lives) - make no mistake, this delaying of treatment means that more patients are dying. This goes against my training and two formal health qualifications.
Though we will be going on cruises out of Brisbane, we will be taking sensible precautions including wearing masks in indoor shared space.
Thanks Adrian for your very informative updates. Best wishes to you and to all cruisers (including ourselves). We will make sure that we reduce the spread of this airborne pathogen - noting that it's the most infectious variant that the world has yet seen.
Best wishes, Phil
Thanks for your valuable insights, Phil. I think it’s easy to move on and forget that this virus is still causing grief. I’m with you, proper precautions and measured risk will be the key to a successful restart.
I’m looking forward to finding out more information as to the protocols and procedures in the coming weeks and I’ll be sharing them here on the channel.
Well said Phil!

Australia takes over two years to get this happening .
Nothing happens quickly in Australia.
Only three states allowing these ship's to berth .
Hopeless place .
