  • Spider-Man No Way Home was the cinematic event of the year, maybe even the past couple of years. The hype leading up to the film was unreal, but I had my doubts. Cramming as much content into a Spider-Man film has proven to be an unsuccessful formula, so you can see why I was worried. But, I'm glad to say the No Way Home not only met my expectations, but even surpassed them at points. The reason being that No Way Home isn't just a good movie, but a great Spider-Man movie. It has heart, character, responsibility, emotion, and has the MCU Spider-Man BECOME Spider-Man. So, come with me as I explain why I think this movie works so well on a thematic and structural level, and how it ended up being the best MCU Spider-Man film to date.
Hey y'all, sorry it's been a minute. I've been working on this other video but had to make one on No Way Home when I saw it three days in a row. But, because I already had a project in the works it means uploads won't be too far from each other. Hoping to get back to a video every two weeks. Thanks for watching, like and subscribe, and have a happy holidays!

For me I adored this movie like you. I feel like I enjoy the previous two movies more than you did. For me I felt like they were playing the long game with Peter. First film to me was a very small scale story which was a breath of fresh air at the time. I also feel the first films lesson was to stop seeking out the glory of becoming an avenger and to instead be the hero he is. In first film he gives up so much but for selfish reasons, and by the end he accepts that he has to do the right thing for the right things sake and not seek glory. He also learns that being an on the ground hero helping locally is where he is meant to be right now.
The second film focused on him letting go of his mentor figures that he leaned so heavily on in the past films and appearances to finally stand on his own. He not only let go of the pressure of being an avenger but also finally stood on his own, and learned not to be so quick to trust people. He also learned that when given great power he is the one who has to deal with it and face it head on. He also learned that he does have to start facing more adult issues, and bigger foes on his own.
Then you have this film. The final part of his complete character. He learns that doing the right thing and not the easy thing is always worth it in the end. He learns that with great power there must also come great responsibility. He sacrifices everything he has ever gained in order to save the world, and in the end learns that while being a hero comes at sometimes a great cost that it's who he is. That with his power he has to focus on being Spider-Man and lets go of trying to put Peter Parker first like he has been able to do in the past and instead put Spider-Man first.
For me the arc is just so good. It feels organic, and earned because we've seen this version of the character essentially grow up. This version of the character made sense to me if they were going to portray a younger version of Peter in the MCU where the Avengers already exist. Of course he is going to want to become an Avenger, and of course he would get resources from that team. Due to this I feel like the arcs of all three films were needed to get us to the point where he stops being Spider-Boy for lack of a better term, and finally becomes Spider-Man. I loved the video btw.

I feel like mcu peters age is very ignored ! To me it makes sense his stakes seem to be on a smaller scale because he’s like 14-16 in the films !! Like how many crisis does a child go through realistically his goals are immature because HE IS IMMATURE in the 3rd film Peter is now going to college and is moving into his first apartment by himself we’re finally watching him become an adult
