exactly what I'm trying to say to people (who are practicing english) it's not wrong to memorize the rules and stuff but your English sounds more natural outside of that method. Ik bakal banyak bgt grammar nazi yg minta di lempar panci (taulah ya annoying nya kaya apa) but its okayy! people learn from those mistakes. remember, the second you stop translating words in your head, you're doing it right (like, u denger kata "chair" u langsung nangkep itu apa, tanpa harus translate di kepala "chair itu kursi")

Please continue to make content like this one. I personally tend to learn more about english by eliminating mistakes than memorizing how to say things at the first place
You can never learn English from school. (If all of yours friends don't speak English fluently). Cos they rarely teach you how to apply it in your daily life in a casual and simple and understandable way.
. . Tapi yang paling penting ya di biasakan, paling cepet lancar kalau lawan bicara nya native. Tapi kalau mandiri, bisa dengan nonton film/content youtube asing dgn subtitle english atau malah non subtitle, sering ngomong bahasa inggris (latihan story telling kayak lagi ngobrol, tp dengan bahasa inggris), baca manga atau novel terjemahan bahasa inggris, nimbrung di forum" berbahasa inggris, dll. And yup, cara paling akurat buat ngecek suatu susunan kalimat, ya di googling, terus cek ada yang make kalimat itu nggak.
I never knew that I used the same way Brian used to learn English. I had a really terrible accent & pronunciation back when I was 15 or 16 (and i also started to learn English when I was 11). So when I was 17 or 18, I began to explore more of the language, I watched a TON of RUclips videos but ALL of them were in English. I usually watch science, philosophy, math, engineering, or even reaction videos. I also really like to talk to myself when I'm alone and 'punished' myself if can't spell or pronounce the word correctly by saying it over and over again. And guess what?? This method WORKED so effectively!! So i think you guys can actually try this method and see the result yourself, I highly recommend it 👍
“Don't memorize rules, memorize phrases," (instead) I cannot emphasize this enough, this is always the one thing I tell my friends when they ask for a tip from me. Thanks for pointing that out, Sacha!

Nemu orang luar dimana mbak.. Aku pengen banget bisa lancar english ... Sampe sampe di kos kosan q jadi memelopori bikin kampung english lingkup se kosan doang... Tp hasilnya gagal wkwk. Cz bhs ingrish blepotan belajar sama sama blepotan wkwkwk Butuh bgt nih nemu temen speaking orang luar

Alhamdulillah meskipun dulunya dianggap orang lain "sok-sokan pake english", tapi hasilnya bisa dirasakan sampe sekarang. Semangat ya mba, InsyaAllah mba bakal lebih jago lagi English nya. 😊
When it comes to English spelling, not only non English speakers who are having problems with that, lots of African American and white Americans (especially who live in the hood) don't know how to spell and speak properly. Why you do that?, who that?, give me it, etc. Yet you brought up a great point, NIAT. Only when you're eager to learn and willing to correct your mistakes, only then you will be succeeded. Oh.... the younger you start learning something, the easier and the faster you acquire the skill. Anyway, saya salut dan bangga pada kemampuan bahasa Indonesia anda. Luar biasa, hebat.

Bahahaah, I often see the whole "keep the spirit" thing with Indonesians who are encouraging other Indonesians with their English learning, schoolwork, etc. In that case the more casual way to say it would be, "keep it up" or "keep going" or "keep up the good work." You could be extra philosophical and say "keep faith/hope alive," and that's more along the lines of "tetap semangat"
@@siswowicaksono5068 sebenernya bisa juga sih. "Keep spirits high" ato "keep morale high" juga kadang2 di pake sama native speakers, tapi gak terlalu umum. Kedengeran agak kuno gitu

Saran buat Sacha, materi yang di video dituliskan di deskripsi. 1. Ask to Susi , salah seharusnya ask Susi 2. Angry to salah seharusnya angry at dan seterusnya. Disertai contoh kalimat biar membantu siswa mengingat
Karena dalam bahasa Indonesia kita hanya mengenal kata kerja, sedangkan dalam bahasa Inggris ada dua kata kerja yaitu TRANSITIVE VERB (kata kerja yang membutuhkan objek) dan INTRANSITIVE VERB (kata kerja yang tidak membutuhkan objek). Maka kata kerja yg membutuhkan OBJEK tidak perlu menggunak preposition "to" seperti "ask him" bukan "ask to him".
Videonya mantap, mba Sacha. Jadi belajar lagi. And, yup, lebih mudah kalau pas praktek ingat frasenya bukan sekedar tense. Secara sy lemah kalau soal hafal-menghafal tenses. Oiya, sedikit berbagi, tentang Thank God (not Thanks God) dan Congratulations (not Congratulation)... Itu namanya arbitrer, atau kesepakatan pemakai bahasa terhadap bahasa itu sendiri. Memang tak perlu ditanyakan alasannya, 'kenapa begini bukan begitu' atau 'kenapa begitu bukan begini'. Sudah dari sananya. Tidak tahu alasannya pun tidak membuat kita bersalah. Semua bahasa punya yang begini. Misalnya: Indonesia 'terima kasih' dijawab 'sama-sama' Inggris 'thank you' dijawab 'you are welcome' Arab 'syukron' dijawab 'afwan' Kalau dilihat kan tak ada hubungannya antara pernyataan dengan jawaban lawan bicara. Tapi ya memang begitu kesepakatan para pemakai awalnya. Kita-kita ini tinggal meneruskan dan memakai. Don't waste your time to ask about it. Just speak and keep practice! (udah bener nggak tuh?!) hehehe

I find you as a very humble (foreign) person... Your videos in correcting English speaking and structures, come in very simple and fun way. Never sound lecturing at all. Perhaps you would create a "learning" community to speak English for us Indonesians, to do it a whole lot better. Sign me up for for the 1st participant
Well practice makes perfect. So if you talk about learning English, I think besides of the lessons taught in school, we just need to constantly practice with keep talking in English. For me it's easier cos my both of my parents are pretty good in speaking English so most of the time we always speaks English.
Next time, I would so much like you to make other videos that can teach us how to pronounce every bit of english word correctly 'cause each time I listen to natives, when they are speaking english, especially you, it's like, their pitch and intonation go up and down. I don't know how to ask it to you, but I think english stress word rules are one of the most important attentions for me to learn english correctly. That's what's I'm asking you about. Sometimes there is something terrible in my pronunciation I have an issue with. English is a language I'm not good at, that's why, I wanna fix it way more serious than I do right now. To sound kind of native-like, it ain't my main goal of learning english. But at the very least, I get it right. I'm used to listening to british and american's accent, and I'm like, oh god, there is a rhythm to their english sentences. And you know, they have a perfect pitch, volume and length. Their pronunciation doesn't sound flat at all. I wanna have one, seriously, sacha, I do. I truly want to get my own english fixed because mine sounds monotone and boring. Besides, of all the videos you make, they're straightforward. They're easy on me. Now I know I really want to know where and when I need to emphasize a very particular vowel in a specific syllable of english word. I'm really really wondering how to do so. OK? I wish you could read this. Thank's sacha.

English conversation is about how we share information to other people.. Like bule bule or other country..i think It's ok if we (indonesian people) wrong to use grammar..or wrong to use verb 1 or 2 or 3.. In our conversation, They (bule bule) still understand about what we talking about.
Intinya mah, bahasa inggris sama indonesia itu beda. Bhsa indonesia mah mau yg lampau ke, yg sedang dilakuin ke, yg brlum dilakuin ke sama saja. Beda dgn inggris. Yg lampau beda, yg sedang di lakuin ada imbuhan, yg belum dilakuin beda lagi. Contoh: Have/had/has Eat/eaten/ate Dll... Kata kerja Yg lampau harus menggunakan "DID", yg sedang di lakuin pake imbuhan "ING". Dsb..

Great video. But I have a question about grammar that bugs me these days. I know that sometimes native speakers don't follow grammar rules strictly, but there was a particular thing I noticed quite a lot. They tend to use simple past when it's supposed to be past perfect or past perfect continuous. So I'll just use Rich Brian's reply as an example (not trying to be grammar nazi, I'm just seriously confused). "I started seriously learning when I was 11, before that I took an English course for like 2 months". Grammar wise, isn't it supposed to be "before that I had taken an English course for 2 months" or because he stated the duration it's supposed to be "I had been taking an English course for like 2 months"? The other day, I even asked my American friend about this, and he just said some native speakers especially Americans often use simple past as opposed to past perfect or past perfect continuous in a daily conversation. And he also said it's grammatically incorrect, but so many native speakers are doing it. In the past, I didn't really care a lot about grammar. I just kept on speaking. But I've tried to be more precise about grammar recently. And those things just confused the hell out of me.
+Kirana A well Brian made a couple mistakes... But they were all native speaker mistakes. Yes you're correct. We often exchange past perfect or past perfect continuous with another more common tense. But in speech we don't really care as much. It's more important in writing. So for a journalist it'll be very important but for mechanic it won't be. In fact Cardi B? Can barely make a sentence... But she sounds so American and people obviously like her lyrics. It's all about your intention. If you want to be considered an intellectual then you can continue worrying about it... But if not then just go with it. People just brush it off. But native speaker mistakes are khas... Ga sembarangan juga. For example... Orang tasik bilang why you do that? But orang America mungkin ada yg bilang why you be doing that? (Mungkin ya... Ini contoh saja) ... Dua2nya salah but one is a native speaker mistake (or even a dialect) and one is just an ESL mistake.
Sacha Stevenson thanks for the reply. Yes I've made a distinction between native speaker's mistakes and non native one. Because one is natural and the other is not. We also have that in Bahasa Indonesia, maybe it's technically incorrect, but since it's common so nobody cares. In some cases you'll even sound more Indonesian if you make those mistakes haha. So I'll just put that to my list of common native English speaker's mistakes and maybe use it every now and then in day to day conversation. But I'll be more careful in a more formal context. Keep doing these English series. It's helped me a lot and I'm sure many people out there.
Sacha Stevenson oh ya baru kepikiran, mau request video common native speakers mistakes. Biar tahu mana kesalahan umum yang sering dipake native dan udah jadi nggak aneh diucapin.
To be honest, I wouldn't even classify that as a "native speaker's mistake." It's no longer deemed an error if the majority has normalized a certain way of speaking into the lexicon. In that example, 90% of native speakers will say "Before that, *I took* an English course" as opposed to "I had been taking/I had taken." The latter sounds too proper or excessive (for me personally).

karna saat kamu ngomong juga gabakal disusun dulu kan sesuai formula simple past, simple present or whatever
Sebenarnya practicing is better than memorizing tenses rules. Banyak latihan ngomong bahasa Inggris itu ngebantu banget
The key is not memorizing. Watching English language youtube helps. Also writing in English. Like this. Bukan Bahasa Indonesia seperti kalimat ini.
selviaa tapi sayangnya klo ngomong gak sesuai aturan, bnyk yg menghina dan menghujat, dgn embel embel #ripenglish yaaa gmn mau cepet bs bahasa inggris ya klo msh belajar tapi udh dihujat duluan 😔
@@seguni_tp gpp itu ujian, belajar diawal dg langsung pratice itu baik tapi lebih bagus kalo setelah itu sambil belajar tenses rules biar maqin oke bosquw, semangat
exactly what I'm trying to say to people (who are practicing english) it's not wrong to memorize the rules and stuff but your English sounds more natural outside of that method.

Yes, memorize the phrases. And that's why sometimes video games, songs, and movies teach english better than books, i guess 😆.
how about audio books? technically those are books.
Karena orang indonesia bukan diajarkan membaca tapi mendengar melihat meraba
Exactly! I mean I speak English pretty well but I know nothing about grammar 🤣🤣
ey please include some biscu--i mean Novels. it helps me a lot
Tapi yang paling penting ya di biasakan, paling cepet lancar kalau lawan bicara nya native. Tapi kalau mandiri, bisa dengan nonton film/content youtube asing dgn subtitle english atau malah non subtitle, sering ngomong bahasa inggris (latihan story telling kayak lagi ngobrol, tp dengan bahasa inggris), baca manga atau novel terjemahan bahasa inggris, nimbrung di forum" berbahasa inggris, dll.
And yup, cara paling akurat buat ngecek suatu susunan kalimat, ya di googling, terus cek ada yang make kalimat itu nggak.
I am proud of you, Ferguso
Noticing itu apa
Ada sejuta Sasha di Indonesia = Indonesia melek English !
Salah satunya aku
I never knew that I used the same way Brian used to learn English. I had a really terrible accent & pronunciation back when I was 15 or 16 (and i also started to learn English when I was 11). So when I was 17 or 18, I began to explore more of the language, I watched a TON of RUclips videos but ALL of them were in English. I usually watch science, philosophy, math, engineering, or even reaction videos. I also really like to talk to myself when I'm alone and 'punished' myself if can't spell or pronounce the word correctly by saying it over and over again. And guess what?? This method WORKED so effectively!! So i think you guys can actually try this method and see the result yourself, I highly recommend it 👍
I am trying it. Its been a year. Hopefully i can be an expert more
yep that's a rlly good method..

Sebenarnya sih tidak masalah untuk mempelajari aturan2 bahasa inggris. Hanya saja, lebih ribet memang untuk di ingat daripada menghafal satu2 kalimat bahasa inggris.
Jadi kalo mau tau ngomong yg tepat gimana yah hafalin saja.
Klo mau tau kenapa mesti begitu baru liat aja rumusnya (biar paling ga tau aja).
Tapi kalau bisa, belajar ke2nya biar otomatis bikin kalimat sendiri dgn rumus2 itu.
Saya juga dulu begitu, belajar bahasa inggris melalui percakapan dgn teman orang luar secara online (via Skype juga. Saran buat Sacha, materi yang di video dituliskan di deskripsi. 1. Ask to Susi , salah seharusnya ask Susi 2. Angry to salah seharusnya angry at dan seterusnya. Disertai contoh kalimat biar membantu siswa mengingat
Karena dalam bahasa Indonesia kita hanya mengenal kata kerja, sedangkan dalam bahasa Inggris ada dua kata kerja yaitu TRANSITIVE VERB (kata kerja yang membutuhkan objek) dan INTRANSITIVE VERB (kata kerja yang tidak membutuhkan objek). Maka kata kerja yg membutuhkan OBJEK tidak perlu menggunak preposition "to" seperti "ask him" bukan "ask to him".
Videonya mantap, mba Sacha. Jadi belajar lagi. And, yup, lebih mudah kalau pas praktek ingat frasenya bukan sekedar tense. Secara sy lemah kalau soal hafal-menghafal tenses. Oiya, sedikit berbagi, tentang Thank God (not Thanks God) dan Congratulations (not Congratulation)...
Itu namanya arbitrer, atau kesepakatan pemakai bahasa terhadap bahasa itu sendiri. Memang tak perlu ditanyakan alasannya, 'kenapa begini bukan begitu' atau 'kenapa begitu bukan begini'. Sudah dari sananya. Tidak tahu alasannya pun tidak membuat kita bersalah.
Semua bahasa punya yang begini. Misalnya:
Indonesia 'terima kasih' dijawab 'sama-sama'
Inggris 'thank you' dijawab 'you are welcome'
Arab 'syukron' dijawab 'afwan'
Kalau dilihat kan tak ada hubungannya antara pernyataan dengan jawaban lawan bicara. Tapi ya memang begitu kesepakatan para pemakai awalnya. Kita-kita ini tinggal meneruskan dan memakai. Don't waste your time to ask about it. Just speak and keep practice! (udah bener nggak tuh?!) hehehe
Oh gitu ya kak. Thanks banget loh infonya. jadi saya kan guru bahasa inggris SD. belakangan juga bikin video rencana mau share buat anak2 juga. jadi kalau dikela ada yg tanya bisa jawab. karena basic saya guru SD bukan bahasa inggris.

Every time I'm lazy and bored with learning English, watching your videos motivates me to keep learning.
+Midas Asmorodono Sosronegoro I understand exACTly what you mean. Languages are a bit like songs. I'll need to think about this tho. Harus nemu cara kreatif buat menyampaikan itu.

Contoh:
Have/had/has
Eat/eaten/ate
Dll...
Kata kerja Yg lampau harus menggunakan "DID", yg sedang di lakuin pake imbuhan "ING". Dsb..
Nurasih Lawati Indonesia letak sama nya dimana yah, kasih contoh juga ???
@@sisiliatube9229 mungkin sperti ini, kalo menjelaskan kemarin, misalnya kemarin aku makan di warung soto. menjelaskan hari ini kan hanya tinggal bilang hari ini aku makan lagi di warung soto. disini kan tidak ada perbedaan kata "makan" (kt.kerja). kalo english kan yesterday I was ate at soto stall. dan menjelaskan hari ini kan beda kata2nya, today I'm eating at soto stall.
I ate soto yesterday..

I agree, "I had taken" sounds too excessive in this case. I just don't know why, lol
It really helps a lot. Thank you so much for making this content.

5. I'm boring ; I'm bored

salah satunya... terlalu banyak pakai "ya". masalah kebanyakan bule di kantor yang lagi belajar bahasa Indo, dan kadang suka gatel sendiri 😂 e.g. "Ini tidak boleh ya. Saya ingin dokyumen jadi ya. Jangan lupa ya."

We are appreciated you to teach and corrected our indonesian people how to speak English in grammar but, remember English is not our first language as you're self also English has a lot of tenses to remember, That is the hard part for us.
Then you said you've learned Indonesian language when you were young.
To me that is the best time to learn.
Remember;
It's very easy to correct it somebody else mistaken but we can't see if our self made mistake.
Your speak in bahasa good but still there are some mistaken. Ha ha ha
