Why would you do a "VS" video comparing 2 pedals, and not play the same lick with the same settings on both pedals....
exactly
they also "compare" two pedals by plugging one right into the other even though it's a buffered bypass
Exactly it's impossible to have a real result
True that, I actually had to do a lot of mental gymnastics to "translate" the sound between the different licks and playing and make the comparison by memory, etc. I think my conclusion that they are similar-but-not-quite is accurate, but yeah, what the hell really? Better yet, use a looper so the signal going to each pedal is 100% the same - so easy.
SO MANY DUMMIES DOING THESE VIDEOS IT'S HILARIOUS
Many thanks and respect for this fantastic demo! You can hear all the aspects of both pedals including (probably) clock noise in case of original DM2 on longest delay settings❤️👍👍👍
I have the original one, its amazing how it blends with both the overdrive pedal (actually an Argie dolly, a clean booster worthy of hearing) and the crunchy tubes.
Boss always made pedals destinated to be used in real gigs, they truly work up there, not boutique jewelery for bedroom players
best comment i have ever read in a pedal thread
Sounds really good. I didn't think it would compare well.
I bought this and the dc-2w. I've played with the older pedals too and I have to admit that Boss nailed it! Amazing quality, headroom and low noise! I suppose that every other waza pedal is equally good.
The Waza has improved circuits inside including a better buffer so the sound is a tiny bit clearer.
I know its not at all the point of this video but its so nice to see a pedal demoed with something other than a strat, sick SG!
Thanks for explaining the dials
Definitely the Waza version.I had the old version and it was noisy. The Waza is more versatile and its buffer is clear which is a plus.
I like the blue reverb shirt.. nice to the dark candy apply red of the pedals
That CME edition C&C is killing
Hi what’s the last set up on the waza when he plays with the full band ??
That intro song was hella good!!
What was the 2nd microphone on the ToneKing Falcon Grande? SM57 and…
great review
3:15 " the waiting drove me mad "
+Max Van Westerop Yes, "Corduroy" by Pearl Jam, thanks!
What was your setting in the intro? That was sick!
I can hear a difference at about 3:51, the original DM2 has some almost bit-crushy sound when the delay is maxed out with a lot of feedback, the Waza craft does not. They both sound warm and awesome, but I think that bit-crushy lo-fi of the original DM2 is where the magic is.
*longer delay times
Agreed.
also a bit more low end on the original, i owned the original for long time and sold it, way too noisy, but i still have two of this famous chips on my Diamond Memory Lane :-) which is a lot better
the magic is only in your head
That sound means that the pedal is not properly calibrated.
That scar tissue solo was beautiful
Thanks +Suave Meh !
Are thee any pedals that use tap timing that can replace the expression pedal?
I was looking away and you really can't tell the difference!! you would notice things if your in the room with them! listening out for background noise, I am sure the Waza will be more quiet
anybody like the sound of the waza better?
I do honestly.
Really. Absolutely Fuller range.
Especially BD-2, BD-2w is the best
hey man! awesome review!!!!
is there any mod for this pedal to make the trails continue to fade out naturally when the delay is bypassed??
+John Apple Currently, not that we know of. But that doesn't mean there isn't a way to do it!
The DM-2 still sounds warmer to me.
It's all in your head man
I agree. The DM-2 definitely sounds warmer. The DM-2w sounds a little bit thin in comparison.
Didnt the bassist & drummer played with Mugison??
Does that Rate input accept a tap tempo, or just expression pedals?
You can't play completely different things/flourishes, when comparing pedals - especially if they're kind of similar ...
That Pearl Jam riff definitely sounded nicer (more organic, and warmer) on the vintage DM-2, to my ears.
Did Billy Duffy of The Cult play that riff with an analog delay?!
That, and your fancy country flourish, you only played n the Waza ... ...
I think I read that Billy Duffy did use the DM2 in his setup. He had/has pretty much all boss pedals for the most part.
I was hoping someone would recognize The Cult in the opening riff She Sells Sanctuary
mmm playin that Pearl Jam, hell yeah! This guy is a great guitarist
What is better? DC2w or DD8?
Wow what was the first song he played? Love it, would love to learn how to play it.
She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult
Drum sounded sick on Sanctuary ...
nice Pearl Jam at 3:16
thank you
is the custom setting on the waza analog as well?
Yea
You can really hear the vintage one has that ‘buzzing’ artifacts at higher repeats and echo.
The waza all clear
Didn't knew John Snow was so good at playing guitar.
Cool demo and all... but that was the weakest version of she sells sanctuary I´ve ever heard, turn the gain up dude!
Un delay debe probarse con una banda.
Excelente el sonido con la banda: 6:23
mn3005 integrated circuits never ceased being made. you can purchase them in bulk for about 3 bucks apiece.
Can someone explain to me what the hell Seashell Sanctuary is? As the Cult fan got offended here.
8O) 8O() XO() 8O() 8O) LMAO!
See demolition man.
Nice RHCP
What's the name of that song with the band?
She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult
Great Frusciante & The Edge feeling
the original seems warmer ?
Psst...you can snag an old Arion stereo delay for pretty cheap, still. I believe it has the same chip and circuit as ye olde DM-2. Plus it’s got stereo out. Only drawback is the cheap plastic housing.
you’re appreciated for that audioslave take
Haha 'Seashell Sanctuary'
3 min. before playing!
Hey ! John snow play the Guitar ;-) good job
Marty Friedman working for Reverb.com
the whole band sounds like U2
Isn't that the intro to some Cult Song?
I have the original dm2 !
no tap tempo :/
rearviewmirror , nice
I heard Corduroy, not Reviewmirror
Those expression pedal changes sound awful ... Pretty useless feature; it's not like the tone of the new pedal makes the bends flattering, or anything ... :/
It can be done in a cool musical way, it just wasn’t demo’d so well here.
wired in reverse? deal breaker. Not getting this one
Pardon my previous ill-informed post, I was going by my faulty memory. The original and Waza sound eerily similar - I think natural sonic variation between different old school DM-2s is likely to be greater than that the difference between Waza and vintage as demonstrated here!!
'They nailed the colour, and got the right number of knobs on it ...' ... XD
Speaking of knobs ... This guy ... Lol
Lmaooo
around 5:50 - 6:05 californication solo? Epic
Scar tissue
thought this was a pedal review not a band review, shame ! good luck
A while back they did a pedal review with fizz pedals and had a queens of the storage cover at the end with it and it was great people asked for more. Many people play w a band so what’s the problem. There’s plenty w just the pedal too
am i the only one who thinks he kinda looks like marty friedman?
Jerru hahahah yes u are
Marty Friedman clone XD
ack...original Dm-2 sounds better.
Feona Lee Jones let me guess... You spent $400 on an original :D
Completely disagree. Waza knocks it out.
Gosh I hate pedal comparison videos with the pedals plugged in series.
watered down version of a Cult classic.
We talking about the pedal or the song?
Metal slides sound awful. Glass is the way to go.
Wow dude is wearing skinny jeans and perms his hair.
Waza has horrible headroom with synths.
its digital ! not original circuits !
Awful demo/review.
What's so bad about it? Just saying 'awful' isn't providing any constructive criticism whatsoever.
