The thing is most pike tend to stand on spots that are hard to cast to (even with spinning gear) cause there are so many anglers.. and most fish the easy to get to spots.. and fly fishing just makes it harder to reach those spots.. so ur shooting urself in the foot... unless u find a stretch with no obstacles and no other anglers.. (from nl).
any reason why you changed from crimping the side of your traces that attached to your flouro leader to knotting them .. only reason im asking is im new to the pike fly fishing and currently making traces i saw your other video on how you set them up and you had changed to a knott rather than a crimp .. thank you for your time bud
Does the the link attaching the fly to the trace rather than the leader give way when snagged? Trying to break a 30lb leader could be hard work. Cheers.
Which streamer material would you recommend for new pike fly fishermen (easiness of casting), natural material such as bucktail or synthetic stuff life those flash material flies?
Gary The flies in my boxes are all tied by myself. There are a few larger flies you can buy off the shelf from people like fulling mill. Regards to this sort of stuff you are better off sourcing someone who does custom orders
@@dannyparkins7396 that’s what puts me off a bit not overly confident tying a knot will work dunno why with trace I mean . I buy them ready made to lure fish
What sort of fly would you use for the canal?? I'm struggling.... I'm using a 8/9# rod and line and have tried all sorts bunnies, deceivers, fry imitation pls help lol
Firstly what’s the head of pike like? Generally speaking if they are there they won’t be hard to catch especially on the fly. If your struggling go down the route of big flashy flies they tend to switch on the aggression
A good clear explanation of what you need to cast some fluff to preds
Just what I needed!! Thanks a lot! Easy to understand

I’m really going to have to try this pike on the fly soon rather than jig fly
It’ll blow your mind!!!
@@dannyparkins7396 that’s what she said 😜👍
@@BlackCountryPiker it’s what she said that you gotta worry about lol
@@dannyparkins7396 😂😂 how very true 😂😂
Can you just use ready made titanium lure leaders that are used for lure fishing instead ?
Depends how refined and slick you want your gear:
@@dannyparkins7396 does wire trace for fly fishing come already to use or do you have to crimp it ?
@@stevegregson6057 you can buy pre made but most knot or crimp them selves
@@dannyparkins7396 are they easy to make ?

You certainly don't need that expensive kit for fly fishing for pike get real ffs .
3.10 that is not the best way to do a loop to loop connection. Here is a video showing the best way.
