you are so right. she really doesn't need to get her legs higher than anyone else to be one of the finest dancers on earth. she has such a smooth movement quality, and her technique couldn't be cleaner, yet she never lacks personality - I recognized her on a youtube video of relatively poor quality that didn't even say what dancer or company it was.

she is such a fluid and feminine dancer. She exudes beauty and presence on stage. She fills the whole stage without needless extra turns or excess beats, etc.

Her Chopiniana solo is a dream. I like that she's floating like a cloud even on jetes. Without trying to make a huge ballon. Recollecting Fokin's memoires i think that this is exactly how he wanted it to be.

What I love about Aurelie is that she isn't a freakish dancer in any way, she doesn't have freakishly amazing feet (although they are still beautiful) and her legs aren't "nice" because they are super high (although she can get them up when she wants) but she is just a beautiful dancer to watch as she is, like the old classics (Anna Pavlova etc) :)

Very inspiring and moving to watch; she is so sincere and expressive. She reminds me of Taglioni.

I love that you picked up on those subtleties. I feel very similar about how she's more than her mere body: her presence, beauty, grace, and flawless technique simply speak for themselves.

Thank goodness her Mom encouraged her to dance. Her sister was also a dancer, it must be in their genes. So what chance does her small son Jaques have, with his father Jeremie Belingard also being an Etoile, and an excellent dancer himself. A future Star perhaps?

I think her solo in Les Sylphide is very hard because one has to square! Very hard to cheat ones turn out. But she is such an inspiration! I love watching her. Maybe someday I will watch her live

@flubished these are tutus, called romantic tutus :P personally I prefer them, less stiff, more feminine in my opinion

  • @nanarinauk

Whilst this clip shows Aurelie when she was younger, she still retains the same qualities as a excellent Dancer, some years and 2 babies later. With only 2 years officially to go to her possible retirement age, it seems awful that we may not be able to enjoy her performances on stage. after this date. Although there are of course other good dancers at the POB how can one imagine who could possibly replace her.?

The tutus here are not "romantic tutus", romantic styles are long and more dress like, either hitting the knee or ankle. These are classical tutus, in the 'belle' shape, which differ from the pancake type in being less stiff and a bit more droopy. :)
