- This is a marvelous tribute to one of the greatest ballet dancers in the world and in the history of Ballet: Marianela Nunez (or Núñez in native language, born 23 March 1982, Buenos Aires). Principal dancer with The Royal Ballet, London. Her mother sent her to ballet classes when she was three. She entered Teatro Colón Ballet School when she was 6 years old and after the age of 16 she attended the Royal Ballet School where she became First Soloist in 2000.

У Марианеллы самая выразительная пластика рук и плеч из всех известных мне балерин после Плиссецкой. В том смысле не #2, а что не менее "говорящие". Она мастерски ими передает эмоции, сюжет, суть... Вообще темперамент в Нуньез чувствуется, очень здорово прорывается в движениях тела. Всегда поражает, что вроде бы иной раз "вылизанные до мельчайших деталей" вариации классических партий каждая великая балерина танцует по-своему. Опознаваемо наособицу. Так Жизель Захаровой совсем иначе ощущается, чем Жизель же у Нуньез, а Китри Марианелла танцует более "фольклорно", чем к примеру Осипова, а последняя прямо огнем мчится в вихре шагов-фуэте. Захарова более лирична, Осипова - быстрее, техничнее в прыжке и вращениях и как бы больше "пацанка". А вот Нуньез - женщина-женщина. Очень сексуальна, женственная и при этом темпераментна и отточенно-виртуозна. Ну и руки с плечами, да. Обожаю руки и плечи у Марианеллы, это такая красота, дух захватывает!

She is just beyond compare. Her technique is essentially flawless, but she brings such character to every role she dances. And she just has so much time, she breathes the movement, so nothing is ever rushed or hurried, it's just breathed into existence.
It's almost as if she's beyond words, she's ineffable.
The reason why she is amazing because her upper body maintains an insane amount grace and ease while she has effortless foot work. She is what every ballerina aspires to be. She is utter perfection.

I don't get why some people don't like her. Is it that she's built more like a normal person than someone like Zakharova? She *is* the music.

Sometimes I’m so entranced by her face I stop watching the dancing! As Giselle I don’t think she’s actIng at all-that’s who she really is.
I could watch a full 24 hours of this and not be bored. Time stands still when watching her. Absolute perfection... and she makes it look SO EASY!!!

I have been such a fan of Marianela for a long time given her facial expressions and grace. I managed to see her live just before covid. I was on my way to Arsenal v Liverpool a few weeks ago, looked up and she was standing infront of me. I was so star struck and she was absolutely lovely, charming, and had so much time for me. A true legend 💕
Her picture should be in the dictionary, set apart from others, with her own special caption, right next to the words; blessed with perfection, of quality, musicality, control, phasing, and whatever other synonyms one could use to describe such a great ballerina and artist such as she!

Marianela es mágica, porque uno puede hablar de su técnica de sus interpretaciones pero ella es un ser de luz, su mirada es hermosa, su sencillez es admirable , y eso lo trasmite a través de su arte, por eso emociona. No se si todos los que escriben y comentan la han visto en un escenario yo si y agradezco a la vida este hecho . Es increíble, la mejor NELAAAAAA !!!!!

Yo no he tenido oportunidad de verla en vivo (justo ahora estoy ahorrando para ir a Londres el próximo año, antes de que se retire), pero he visto mil entrevistas suyas y lo que siempre me ha cautivado de ella es que puedes ver a través de su alma, su extraordinaria humildad y sencillez que expresa dentro y fuera del escenario, es una artista maravillosa.
Just one of the most superb ballerinas alive today. She is a joy to watch and seemingly a lot of fun in rehearsal. (I know, this was a performance vid but I love to watch rehearsals) You just keep them coming I love it.

Why do ballerinas bend their knee and tap the inside of their other leg with their toes so often? Or is it just in the swan lake choreography? I’ve been binging ballet videos but I don’t know anything
if you mean like what she's doing at 1:45, that's (generally) called a petite battement. I'd say that's mostly just swan lake choreo, since it's only moderately common in other ballets.

The problem with female ballet is that they spend so much more time en pointe. I have severe bunions and I would undoubtedly worsen them if I were to involve myself in something like this. I much prefer male ballet for this reason. Absolutely not a diss. Her skills are out of this world.
