I was so disappointed when Weed em and Reap decided not to keep Hope. I was sad that I would never hear any more about her and then SURPRISE!, you, my favorite channel adopted her. I can't think of a better place for her.

Hope melts my heart, from the moment she 'plopped' out unnoticed she had it in the palm of her hoof lol. I'm so glad she's found a loving caring home like yours. I'd love to see her and Tanner get up to adventures together, they both seem to have curious and fun personalities, I think they make a great duo!

Morning Al and family. I see as the amount of sunshine and warmer weather your hens are increasing their egg production. I am glad that you finally are having less snow and hopefully the frost will go out of the ground so the mud will dry out for you. Been foggy here the last few mornings with over night temps of 43°. Supposed to get up to 67° today. I need to say that I am glad and respect you for your not being afraid to display your faith by saying Grace at mealtime. Have a great weekend.

Poor Hope...when you left her to go & get some more water/food for her, it was like you where never coming back! I really hope that Hope will get to be with the other goats SOON!!!
I wonder if having her little sweater on makes her seem ‘different’ to the other goats? I know there’s a ‘getting acquainted’ period? I’m sure, eventually, they’ll all adjust!!

Sweaters or blankets on livestock are a catch 22 situation. They help give extra protection but they compact the natural insulation of the hair. Normal winter hair will stand out away from the animal in colder weather. Taking Hopes hoody off when shes out in the sun would help her adjust and allow her hair to breath.

Remember, Hope didn't really have a winter coat for NH, but for AZ, its nearly spring so they won't be leaving that hoodie on her much longer.

Goats are tough buggers. Establishing dominance is normal. If you ever have to milk them all at the same time remember to do it from most dominant to lezst.

Al, you need a nice, lean-to greenhouse connected to your house! You could grow things that you don't have time in your growing season to grow, otherwise. You could have tomatoes in the fall, if not the winter. And it would be great to be able to walk out there on a snowy day, and it's still warm! You could even grow tilapia in a tall, translucent tank, and feed the plants aquaponically. That would be a cool build!

This has quickly become one of my favorite channels. I didn’t start watching until you got Hope. I’ve gone back to watch previous videos bc I can’t get enough.

Does, I swear can be worse than bucks. The least dominant girl will probably be the one to pick on Hope the most. You are absolutely on the right track introducing her. Been keeping goats for about 35 years or so off and on. I've had 1 mean buck, several onery does lol until I changed blood lines. I love Maran, have a dozen eggs in the incubator now.
Al, if you want the Snow around that section of Fence to melt faster, you could also throw down a little wood ash from your Wood Stove. The Albedo of the Snow, is what is keeping it from melting as fast as the rest of the fence line, so throwing down a little wood ash, breaks up all the 'White' and allows the sun's rays/radiation to melt the snow faster.

I was amazed you got the chickens back in, mine run for the hills. You REALLY need a Great Pyrenees or some other LGD. We live right on the edge of thousands of acres of woods but because of our guard dog we rarely lose a chicken.
As a fellow homesteader, I love coming across gems like this with your lovely family Al. My kin live on 40 acres in Northern CA and wouldn't have it any other way. As a well traveled person, my favorite part of the vlog was the ride into town. I have a lifelong appreciation of architecture and building types in various parts of the country. I love the new England vibes New Hampshire gives off. My goats always bleat when they see me come home or outside. I chalk it up to love and a desire to be fed 😂 love the vlogs, keep it up!
If you don't have a meat slicer, you should get one. We cut our cured and smoked bacon with one, and then use a vacuum packer before freezing. We don't have to worry about cutting it up, and each piece we cut is the same width. We have a hard time pacing ourselves with eating homemade bacon as it is so good.
It’s really interesting watching your farm thaw out. It’s one slushie mess at the moment! Hope gets cuter and more sassy each day, such a diva. I had ‘brinner’ last night too - a fried egg and bacon toasted sandwich, cos hubby was away. Nice and easy. 😀
My best 2 smells? 1/ Coffee shop where they roast the beans, 2/ Bakery making fresh bread. I also like going to a local butcher and buying extra thick bacon. Crispy Bacon sandwich with a little English Mustard and Tomato Ketchup with coffee fresh, Black no sugar.
Hope is doing so well... I'm glad to see her so happy! She already knows what to eat and when she needs it (ie: seaweed vs goat mineral). From an underdog to a thriving little bundle of joy and attitude to boot! Your family is so sweet. :-) God bless!

How crazy! I have a Copper Maran Roo/hens and Easter Egger hens- and I just got an incubator to hatch out the same as you! The last of my Olive Egger hens just passed so I figured it was time for some new ones!

What’s really dangerous is not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle. Currently, only 19 states require a helmet for all riders (drivers AND passengers), and 10 more states require it for the driver only. So, 29 total w/ helmet laws. The rest...they ride how they want.
@@tarantulady8565 I am going to respectfully disagree with this 'freedom'. As a teen I was in a rollover and was not belted,i flew around that car like a stuffed toy. I was the passenger,a 'friend' was driving,like an idiot. So I was unbelted because I wanted to get out at the stop sign. He rolled the ball into the ditch about 50 metres from the sign. My ex is a police officer,collision reconstruction was his thing. I had first hand info on the implications and results of people not being belted. Bodies basically become projectiles and that alone can cause catastrophic injuries. I also never understood the no helmet laws on motorcycles in some states. It is pure lunacy. I do not get into a car or on the back of a motorcycle without a belt or helmet.
I have to add,I am 49, so when I was a kid we did not have mandatory seat belt laws here either. In fact as a kid my dad had a big old caddy with a centre arm rest, which we traveled the state's in a few times. Back then my favorite seat was the arm rest in between my parents. Needless to say had we crashed I would have probably become a hood ornament. 😬

So cute, nice Hope time. Thank you. I have a question about leaving your chicken out in a yard with just an electric fence to protect them. What about hawks or other feathered predators? And...you have chicken that are your egg layers in New Yolk City but, then you also have just the (I call because I don’t understand yet) Free Loader Range chicken...and they just hang outside where ever on your property but, you take care of them through the winter. I guess my poorly written question is...why don’t you combine them?

Lots of mud .. You should pull the back fence of the goat pin forward to the middle of the goat barn .. shift all the fence accordingly, then you can put a people passage door in the back corner .. avoid all mud .. Good video ..

So excited that you're growing Marans this year! Marans are my new breed this year as well. I have 5 Marans chicks cheepin' away in my brooder right now. 1 black copper, 2 Blue Splash, 1 White and a Blue Splash Roo. They are so smart, sweet and easy to deal with so far! Looking forward to watching yours grow and hearing what you think of thier delicious eggs and friendly nature.

That mean Buttercup is gonna hurt that little goat Hope!!!!! I know that’s somewhat goat behavior But that buttercup is just plain mean & overly jealous. Maybe when the new kids of willow’s come along Hope won’t be the new kid on the block anymore.

Ever had bacon candy? Mix Orange marmalade, honey, and dash Cayenne Pepper. Brush glaze on bacon. Then bake in oven on rack till brown . So yummy
New Yolk City. I think I might know why they were quite; the day before. The WILD animals are waking up and looking for an easy meal. There must of been a predators around, When the hens heard your voice they were so happy. I would put up on the outside of the pen a solar powered electric fence for chicken predators that run just around the base of the fance.
