  • Words I never want to hear from you: “I’m too old.”
You NEED new goals. The goals you had a decade ago are not the ones that are going to motivate you NOW.
The things that were important to me twelve years ago as a 40 year old are not what motivate me now as a 52 year old. Give yourself the incredible gift of taking time, flipping to a blank page, and MAKING NEW GOALS.
So instead of beating yourself up for NOT achieving the goals you made five, ten, or fifteen years ago, try flipping your attitude. Maybe you weren’t SUPPOSED to achieve those goals. Maybe those goals weren’t the ones that are meant for you.
Everything you have experienced in your life has been preparing you for this moment of reinvention. You have this amazing opportunity to look at the future with a whole new lens!
Ask yourself what is it that you want at this moment in your life? Because you’re NOT too told, too young, too late, or too soon.
You can reinvent, rebuild and rethink what you’re going to do next at any moment you choose. Today seems like the perfect day to start doing it 😉

I have been a stay at home mom for 21 years. It’s my sons last year of college a d my daughters last year of HS. I just started a job at Target last week! It is a huge change, but one that has been great! I am out being social and meeting so many people! I have been filled with compliments and people have been so kind! I had no idea how badly I needed this change! I am starting out slow, just PT so it has also been nice to ease back in. Highly recommend to anyone facing change. Go for it. It doesn’t have to be a forever. Keep trying till you find what makes you happy and comfortable. ❤️

    • @catwhisperer1253
      @catwhisperer1253 3 года назад +2

@@Jay-og4yb Another rude and ignorant comment by you. Obviously, you can't do math either. Her kids weren't grown adults. If for example, she had her daughter 3 years after her son, then she stayed home to raise them until they both were 18. And no, she isn't "babysitting" them, she is "parenting" them. She isn't just lying around being lazy and not working. It is a lot of work to be a parent and keep a household running smoothly. Have you had kids? Did you do all the laundry, shopping, cleaning, driving the kids to all their activities, helping them with their homework, talking with them about all their concerns and struggles, taking them to doctor appointments, going to parent-teacher conferences, etc? The list is endless. I am sure her husband and her decided that they wanted the mother home for the kids. So, you are not only insulting her, but her husband, and all parents who choose to have a parent at home. Some people believe that the kids are better off with a parent at home and it is their right to choose. And, she certainly is not "leeching" off her husband. Those are his kids too and they need to be taken care of. You come off as a sad, sad man. Women cannot win in society. If they work, they are told that they are not a good mother for not staying home with the kids. And if they don't work, they are told that they are lazy. It takes SOO LITTLE for a man to be considered a good dad. And it takes SOO LITTLE for a woman to be considered a bad mom. The bar is so low for men. It is disgusting how little it takes for a man to be considered a good man. But, a woman is constantly criticized for everything. They can't win. Take your disgusting misogyny and just leave. The only regret I have is that I was not notified of your comment and was not able to reply sooner. I only saw the kind comments of others. You should learn about kindness from them.

I'm thinking, wow, I m seventy, so I still have another twenty five years or more to start a new business and set it up to hand it on to my grandkids. I turned 40 last November & it wasn't great because it was in the midst of Covid & a couple months before the three-month lockdown, I've been studying in that time & I had a moment of tripping up & falling into a distinct lack of motivation/belief & feeling "old", which is nonsense now that I can look at it from a brighter perspective! People used to say "life begins at 40"... I get there & social media seems full of ageist 20-somethings thinking somehow they're magically immortal but I realised what I pay attention to & don't is my choice. Life goes on, & I adore Mel for having proved you can start all over again later in life & remain strong 💙

@@lisaschooler9992 I love teaching and have been involved with a private school as a music teacher and librarian...then switched to public as a substitute just this year which I love! Sometimes the thought of physical limitations can be paralyzing to try but I'll do it for as long as I can. Thanks for the positive encouragement and same to you!!!

I'm 70 years young. After my small business evaporated during covid, I reinvented myself and studied the mortgage loan industry for 6 months. I even bought a new business wardrobe, but it just wasn't meant to be. Nobody but nobody would respond to LinkedIn or resumes with job applications. Oh well, back to the drawing board: writing, public speaking, fundraising, and my ZBIG goal is to develop an non-profit organization that financially supports the small, independent animal rescue organizations. Wish me luck!

Anyone can do whatever they want to. The first step you take, is the first step to success. Look at your feet. Free up those feet, and let them move forward in the line , of success. Who doesn't want to be in the front of the line, but a person has to take the first step to move in the line forward to get there.
Consistency is the key to being successful in what you want to do.
      Don't fear the fear itself.
Fear that some day you look back at all the time that was wasted being fearful of moving forward to what you always wanted to do, or of what you always could do. Flush the fear. Getting out of a person's comfort zone of wishful thinking is healthy, and also allows a person to have a more fun, and better quality of life.
      Just do it ! 💪😁 👍🎈

Yes, yes yes! I'm about to turn 40 and it's time to flip the page and make a new chapter. I'm so excited for the new goals. 40 is the new 30s right?! I'm reinventing myself and find it helpful to say that I can still keep up with the 20 year olds! As a college professor teaching musical theatre I've discovered that I have more confidence as I grow older.

I will be 30 this year. I studied economics but due to depression and anxiety it took me way too long. Always worked as a working student. Now I realise that i don't work in that field after graduating. I was always interested in science and thinking about pursuing a degree in biochemistry. I feel to old. I feel like no company will hire me because of my age and my lack of experience and achievements. I know this video is already 2 years old but I feel super lost and slowly loose hope. I feel like a failure and I am afraid of the future.

Mel, you are my favorite person on internet. Could you please make a book or video about cheating/lying boyfriend and husband? As an old woman, I deal with this shit all the time. Every time my partner gets caught cheating, I move on. Then I find my new boyfriend cheating on me again. I break up and move on. This cycle seems endless. I am still a single. Never been married. Life sucks as a woman. How do we deal with this? Please..... Add this topic to your next book. I'm buying all of your books. Thank you. God bless you. Love you Mel.
