Me, Gracie University Torrance, GJJ and BJJ are completely different arts. And to be clear distance management is one of Gracie Torrance's core values. The mindset is different between GJJ and BJJ, weight distribution, leverage, timing, patience, base, center mass etc. this is GJJ.
Enrolling in Gracie University was the best decision I ever made in my study of martial arts and one of the best choices I have made in life. I am so glad you guys mentioned it.
"Lapelapalata" was too good lol! He had me cracking up. I guess that's the key differentiator. Most sports/comp schools are going to gear their curriculum toward points, even at the risk of losing 'self-defense' advantages
I am in that situation sir, the school I attend is sports base, no Gracie JJ in my area. So I just learn what I pay for weed out all that garbage to an extent, and simplify it to self defense. I have had my school for 3 years now, it’s not way but it works. One last thing I am transparent with all my students on my intentions. OSS
@@miguelpagan8436 Yes I am doing this with a training partner. Very difficult though as people are more concerns about points. I get odd looks when I practice walking in base. 🙂
Haven’t seen Gracie jiujitsu win a ufc fight since Royce. You have to develop the other fighting styles to be complete. Jiujitsu is not enough. Now when you are fighting a bum , of course jiujitsu is enough but not guaranteed!
