I'm not saying Rickson wasn't the best, I'm simply asking the obvious question.
He's been interviewed about it, and has said he believed he could win in MMA just by training jiu jitusu with no time limits and had all kinds of other opinions.

Well Rickon says in his book he was beating Rolls when he died in a very respectful way. Why would he lie? Everyone is saying something different about their opinion on this. There is a lot of dispute on this kind of thing. I think the most accurate answer is we can't compare guys from different eras with any degree of accuracy.
Not one of them has beaten the caliber of Jiu-jitsu fighters then Roger. I love Rickson, Rolls and Renzo. But no way Roger. And he tapout most of the best.
I think that's a great argument for Roger because the others were great against other grappling arts/other martial arts. Roger dominated at a time when there were many non-Gracie champions in Jiu Jitsu
Roger without inhuman body strength would not have won so many titles. Marcelo Gracia on the other hand became the world champion with regular people's physiques. There is no doubt who is the greatest ever.
yes i'm sure roger is just ungodly stronger than Buchecha was in their fight. just god-like physique built from mt olympus. Or... dude's genetics made him tall and he stacked supreme jiu jitsu skills on top of it.
42 is an early age ????? .... Roger quit at 35. ..... Without Jiu-jitsu, Rickson beats any MMA guy today. ... We all know Rorion and Royce made Brazilian Jiu-jitsu mandatory in all MMA training. You either directly train it - or indirectly (to defend). No other system has the same absolute 'must' as Jiu-jitsu. So, thank you Rickson's brothers.
Sakuraba's career is thanks to the organization that Rickson made possible. ... At the time, it was common knowledge that Rickson was building up the match with Rickson. Saku was a NOBODY until that Royce match. But even then, it wasn't enough, nor was the Royler match. The Renzo match gathered enough public demand and they were offering close to a million for that match. But Rickson had already taken the match fighting the creator of Pancrase. Shortly after, two things happened: Saku got stomped by Wanderlei and the Japanese's offer shrank down tremendously. Then Rickson's son died and that was pretty much it. All of that happened very rapidly after Saku's win over Renzo. ...There was no avoidance, just waiting for a paycheck - then that slipped away after Pride 13. And there was no real motive after that.
I love how he stayed humble in his answer but made sure he gave his son the props he deserves.

Best answer,Time...the universal truth
What about Rocian ?? The
Rickson but don't let that guy loose on a bowl of oranges I want some Rick and 18 in one video. my favorite of the group you got there
My favorite biological Gracie is RENNER My favorite Gracie instructor all-time belongs to TCITY BO and all RG old gd get point across they all make jitsu fun to learn enjoy for any age person
You forgot Royce
I'd like to see a Gracie vs JCVD
Alguém traduz aí por favor 😢
Usted es brasilero mestre , traducción es casi logico 🇧🇷🇺🇾👋👊
Royce? Seriously?
Roger fought everybody in his generation.. He is the best gracie
Roger basically retired from grappling comp in his late 20s and retired from mma at 35. ... Rickson's last fight was at 42. When Rickson was Roger's prime grappling age (late teens to mid 20s) was famously going around Brazil and submitting everyone. Every teacher, every black belt. ADCC didn't exist, and Rickson was almost 40 when the Mundials started up. ... Perspective.
Should renzo be in the category? I don’t think so
Then you’re not knowledgeable about the history of BJJ.
Renzo has great BJJ are you crazy?
Ace of Spades this has to be a joke right? 2x ADCC champ, multiple time Brazilian champ(before there was a world championships), taught all the guys from Gb that became world champs, Roleta, Soca, Marcinho, Nino, Roger, Cachorrão...................
@@russellward4624 he's clueless
Renzo is possibly the best teacher of the 4, but yeah in terms of ability compared to the other 3, he wouldn't be considered the best. Although it's hard to know how good Rolls was because the level of competition at the time so we just have to go on their word that he was amazing.
Rolls only had one mma fight maybe he was the best gracie back then . Rickson never but never fought anyone good . Now let’s talk about renzo .... he beat Maurice Smith , Oleg taktarov plus he never picked Easy fights. Renzo e Royce are the best .
Ugh, another fucking idiot. Yeah dude, Rickson manhandled his brothers and cousins but yet somehow they were better than him. No matter that Renzo and Royce are the first to acknowledge his superiority.
Roger vs Gordon Ryan, no gi, who wins 2020?
Would love to see that. May the best man win if that ever happens
@@khonyeleaglefergumedov9175 I give edge to Roger it would be a great match
Gordon. Game as changed and the great leveler, the gi, won't be there.
Roger is my favorite competitor. But he is now a bit old to beat Gordon I guess..
@@pyeondoche A bit old??? Roger is 38 and you consider that old? You probably thought the same thing when he beat Buchecha - BJJ requires skill not age. Rickson Gracie at 61 could still tap 3/4 of Black Belts today,
Análise perfeita e racional
We all know it was Rickson
Has anyone asked why Rickson never fought a top UFC or Pride opponent?
Renato Laranja Taps the entire Gracie Clan in one night!!!!!! Hahahahaha
A nem véi cadê a legenda!!!!!
Why is Renzo even being mentioned amongst Roll, Rickson and Roger...? Come on..
I think Renzo is the best coach of them, and the one who have more MMA fights.
In mma Reno’s would smoke Roger. That’s why.
Renzo was nearly as good as Rickson, that's why. ... That's coming from my old teacher, Cesar Gracie. He told me Rickson beats Renzo 3 out of 5 times. Rickson was the best. And Cesar was close to both of them. That's why it's interesting to me. The momentum that Renzo started - one of his students starting ADCC, another one being Danaher, Renzo had the first book out, the first GJJ video out, .. before his knee became an issue - he was on fire. But Rickson was a bit sharper and a good deal more athletic/powerful. .. Who did Roger beat in MMA? Randleman in his 40s, lol. .... Where welter/middleweight Renzo beat multiple heavyweight champs. ...... I personally think 30 year old Roger beats 30 year old Renzo in a no-gi match. But small Renzo is absolutely in the conversation.
Bet it starts with an R ... 🤔
rickson d best ask any gracie
Roger
Muito bom!
roger in my opinion
Sakuraba was best beat them ALL and 1 refused to except the challenge
Im a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu Roger is the Goat !!!!
Rolls
How is Rodger a Gracie then if Gomes is not?...forgive my ignorance
In Brazil both parents names are used. Mauricio's full name is Mauricio Motta Gomes and Roger's full name is Roger Gracie Gomes. Roger's mother is Reila Gracie. Names are usually shortened and which is used is a personal choice.
@@MauricioGomesBJJ ahhhhh
Roger. Just say roger.
RICKSON GRACIE HANDS DOWN NO COMPARISON
@Sir Honks-Alot PERFECTLY SAID
Who did Rickson actually beat though?
@@s1r155 what does a question like that actually mean though?
@@s1r155 a question like that automatically betrays a fundamental lack of proper knowledge where jiu-jitsu is concerned. It just does...
@@jamescarr4662 this statement is bigger than jiu jitsu. In order to be considered the best (in any competitive art) you have to beat the best, taking on all comers. Roger Gracie is a perfect example of this. You can't be considered the GOAT simply because you're the best in your family or gym. I'm not saying Rickson wasn't the best, I'm simply asking the obvious question.
Renzo told my Rickson, but this was before Roger came on the scene. Rickson was physically superior, but never trained in modern striking.
He's been interviewed about it, and has said he believed he could win in MMA just by training jiu jitusu with no time limits and had all kinds of other opinions.
Roger 100
I don't know why he talk so little about Rickson. He always diminish him in some way, not being explicit about it, but in the way he talks or don't talk.
i think its because everyone bigs up rickson, so he's not going to suck him off as much to give the others props
It goes Rolls Rickson Rigan and then Roger. NO one can dispute this.
Rickson, Roger, Rolls, Rigan
@David Davidno, look what Roger did at heavyweight and open weight. Roger also lost to buchecha after coming off a bad staff infection then next match submitted buchecha in like 2 mins
Lol
Anyone can. Rickson has an invented resume that even helio said it was bs. Rolls couldve been.
Roger was and is the goat. He beat everyone, even the generation after. His record isnt invented in his mind, it s proven. He s not only the best gracie, he s the best period.
Good to show humility but it is clear that he thinks the level of the sport has gone up and his kid is the best ever.
Not one of them has beaten the caliber of Jiu-jitsu fighters then Roger. I love Rickson, Rolls and Renzo. But no way Roger. And he tapout most of the best.
I think that's a great argument for Roger because the others were great against other grappling arts/other martial arts. Roger dominated at a time when there were many non-Gracie champions in Jiu Jitsu
buchecha was 44 pounds heavier than roger? no i don't think so...
Roger was around 215 maybe 220. Buchecha was around 250. and i guarantee he was probably on juice. Thats an enormous advantage.
Yeah and everyone outweighted Helio by 200 pounds and 10' of height. Porra.
@@aplus1080 why so salty?

@@aikidoisthebombyeah For sure. I trained with those guys. A few of them for sure are. As well as ATOS. Bunch of camps these days.
Rickson or roger could easily beat gordon ryan
There's know way to know these things just like the guy said. You can't compare people from different eras with any degree of accuracy.
I think a non sense to do this kind of comparison .I agree Mauricio with. Also live are umpredictle out from it is just vanity.
Gordon is better than them all
Só têm em 8inglês essa porra?
Inglês?
Roger without inhuman body strength would not have won so many titles. Marcelo Gracia on the other hand became the world champion with regular people's physiques. There is no doubt who is the greatest ever.
yes i'm sure roger is just ungodly stronger than Buchecha was in their fight. just god-like physique built from mt olympus. Or... dude's genetics made him tall and he stacked supreme jiu jitsu skills on top of it.
Who cares. Rickson quit fighting at early age. Today's mma guys would maul any of them in their prime.
Meh, nothing worse than a guy sitting on the fence ready to bat for either side 😂 I’m just kidding
Hoger
Sakuraba played with several Gracie's, Rickson avoided him. But I would pick Roger over anyonewho's ever rolled.
Cancelei a inscrição
renzo cant be on the list
You forgot Royler, Carlos, Rener, Rorion, Helio, Ralp, Royce
