FOR THE DUSTING

Things You Will Need
Candy Makers/ Molds
Directions
GETTING READY
1. Line 2 cookie sheet with parchment pepper and set aside.
2. In a mixing bowl, add in the powdered sugar, karo syrup, water, vanilla extract, butter and peppermint extract. Mix with stand mixer until a dough like consistency is obtained.
3. Scrape the dough from the attachment and from the bowl and make a ball.
4. Sprinkle dry powdered sugar over the counter and roll the dough. Wrap in saran and place in refrigerator for 15 minutes or until firm.
MAKING
5. Take out the dough from the fridge and place over sugar dusted counter. Roll the dough with rolling pin, flipping in between. Roll until it obtains ¼ inch thickness.
6. Cut the sheet with round cutter, and place on the prepared cookie sheet. Repeat the process and make more peppermint circles. Place in the refrigerator until patties are firm.
7. For Candy Chocolate Coating - In a large saucepan, boil water. In another saucepan which is smaller in size add in the candy chocolate and place over the boiling water. Stir continuously until chocolate is melted.
8. Fill the bottom of candy mold with melted chocolate and spread with knife. Place the peppermint patty dough into the mold and press. Top with melted chocolate and spread with knife. Repeat the process with six patties. Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes.
9. For Dark Chocolate and Mint Morsels Coating - In a large saucepan, boil water. In another saucepan which is smaller in size add in the dark chocolate and mint morsels and place over the boiling water. Add in the shortening and stir continuously until chocolate is melted.
10. Dip the peppermint patties into the chocolate mixture and place over prepared cookie sheet. Repeat the process with rest of the patties. Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes.
11. Take out the candies from the fridge and take out from the molds.
SERVING
12. Serve Peppermint patties with tea or coffee.
TIPS
You can melt chocolate in microwave too. Wrap the candies in foil and can be given as gift to your loved ones.
Thanks for sharing Cheryl, I'll try making your peppermint patties this Christmas. They look delicious!
Thanks for watching and giving this recipe a try Dan....They were sooooo...good! Wishing you a beautiful day....Let me know how you liked them when you make them.ENJOY!
dan i agree with everthing you said. Heres how we make our peppermint paddies its a lot simpler. first you go down to the dollar store the dollar general or the dollar tree. We have the dollar general at our town. go in ther and buy you a lot of the jumbo tubes of peppermint tastin toothpast. Then you put them in the freezer until theyre hard and then cut them into slices. you can punch out the insides and thro away the casings. Then you just cover the rounds with melted chocolate and put them back into the freezer until your gran childern come over, They love em. And it nice to know that it wont rot they teeth like other candy will. And my grandchildern has the cleanest teeth.
Cheryl that is one of the most favorite things that I like to put with Vanilla Ice Cream and using the small JR Mints that look really creative and very tasty as a reviewer that I have seen many types . They look really nice I don’t know what peppermint patties are being from the U.K. but as a kid we made something very similar at Christmas called peppermint creams that we would then half dip in chocolate and leave one half plain. Ours were a little smaller cut out with a bottle top and usually used green food colouring as well.. Will give this a go I expect the butter makes them very creamy. I loved making sweets at Christmas as a kid. We made marzipan fruits and sugar mice and spiced biscuits we hung on the tree. Lovely memories from so long ago. I love your accent by the way so calming and reassuring.
Thank you so much for watching and giving this recipe a try.....So glad this recipe brought up happy memories for you...isnt it nice to remember the good old days....they were so much fun growing up as a kid. YUM... Marzipan fruits and biscuits to hang on the tree....I bet that was fun and the tree looked beautiful too. Let me know how this recipe turns out for you. ENJOY!

Thanks for watching...., and for giving this recipe a try!!......Have a wonderful day....ENJOY!!
My favorite candy! YUM! Did you know that if you eat peppermint candy you eat less than what you would with chocolate- because (for some reason) peppermint candy quenches your desire for sweets, so you eat less.
I am going to try it! I love mints
Thanks for watching Darlene....and for giving this recipe a try...OMG they are so good....Let me know how you liked this recipe....ENJOY!

Cheryl, you’re unbelievable one of my favorites, grandkids too. You are so patient. They look so goo. This week out Italian tradition is making Easter bread, so I’m busy doing that. But i have to sneak in to do The SamoaCookie. Love your hair when it was shorter,
Thank you Rosemary...YUM Easter Bread...OMG....I can smell it from here!! That Samoa Cookie was so delicious!! Thank you for your kind words...Thanks for watching, enjoy your day Rosemary!
Better than the hillbilly kitchen. I use candy molds also. But Wilton has paintbrushes for the molds to make it easier. Coconut oil instead of shortening.
Thanks for watching.....Wishing you a blessed day!
YUMMY!!! Never knew how simple it was to make! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU TOO!!

Cheryl K You’re
Can you freeze these ?? If I want to wrap them in candy wrappers. Should I do that before I freeze them ?
Thanks for watching......I would freeze them first then wrap them ....this way here the chocolate is frozen onto the patties before you wrap them..... and refreeze them again....dont let them defrost,... try and wrap them while they are frozen.... I hope this helps you. Let me know how it turns out for you. Have a great day!

Thank you! Thanks for watching...wishing you an awesome day!
Can i use butter instead, don't eat shortening because of the hydrogen
Pam Ward Thanks for watching Pam.... Not sure if the candies will set using butter....plus the shortening helps with the chocolate so it’s not so thick....All I can say is give it a try ,if you do let me know how it worked for you. I hope this helped you Enjoy!
