This and her other recipes are the very best. I love the weights of ingredients because they come out just perfect. I made the peppermint patties and my husband seems to be addicted to them. I make a lot of her recipes and have never been disappointed. She is a great instructor
My favorite candies! I absolutely love dark chocolate and especially mint with chocolate combinations. There is mint chip ice cream and these beautiful Patties you’re making. Thank you so much! 💕
Aha! I thought I'd already watched a video with you making Peppermint Patties! I also prefer the 'new method' of using a cookie cutter over rolling the filling into a ball and flattening it! Wish I was on your Christmas goodie list :) Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, Stephanie and all the best to you and yours in 2021! Take care.
Excellent recipe and super easy. One of the things I like about it is that you can separate the creation of the filling with the covering in chocolate. I like to make a double batch of filling, roll it out then cut the patties and freeze. Later you can melt some dark chocolate and dip a dozen or so. Found a good YT video on tempering dark chocolate which is really not that difficult. Thanks for this recipe and keep up the good work!
I make these all the time but I use sweetened condensed milk instead of cream and peppermint baking emulsion instead of oil. Thank you for the wonderful video.
Tbh Stephanie.. you're the reason I started baking and it soon became something I got quite good at. It's been almost 12 years since I watched your video for the 1st time. Thank you for sharing your recipes with us over all these years! 💖
OMG, I hadn't been back to see your channel for at least 4 or 5 years...why did I ever leave, I have no idea. SMH. So glad you are still on the Tube. I used to make your lemon and poppy seed pound cake every week I think.
I made the Mexican Wedding Cookies the other day and we loved them, not my first time making them. I’m def gonna be trying these, my husband loves junior mints so he’ll be happy. Thanks for sharing!!
I've made this very recipe from the Joy of Baking website for 4 or 5 years in a row now. My family loves them and always asks for them this time of year. They are delicious! Thank you and happy holidays!
You have such a wonderfully positive personality and you're so polite. I love how you excuse yourself to retrieve your patties from the freezer. I can't wait to try making these, thank you
lea i agree with everthing you said. Heres how we make our peppermint paddies its a lot simpler. first you go down to the dollar store the dollar general or the dollar tree. We have the dollar general at our town. go in ther and buy you a lot of the jumbo tubes of peppermint tastin toothpast. Then you put them in the freezer until theyre hard and then cut them into slices. you can punch out the insides and thro away the casings. Then you just cover the rounds with melted chocolate and put them back into the freezer until your gran childern come over, They love em. And it nice to know that it wont rot they teeth like other candy will. And my grandchildern has the cleanest teeth.
Stephanie, thank you for yet another amazing recipe! Your recipes are always my go-to, whenever I want to learn to make something new. Also, must tell you, I make your Christmas Yule log every holiday season, it’s always a hit!!! I’ve never commented on your videos (even though I’ve watched almost all of them), so I figured it’s high time I let you know that your recipes, and YOU, are truly appreciated!
Hi Stephanie. My daughter and I made these today, and in the hot humid climate that we're from, we faced a few issues. The filling didn't come together as nicely as yours, so we added a little extra icing sugar. once taken out of the freezer, they also reached room temperature really quickly...so cutting and dipping required several trips to the freezer. But the end result is awesome. Thank you so much for this easy and delicious recipe
I make those every year and during the dipping I’ve started using toothpicks to help remove the excess chocolate from below the fork and to help remove them from the fork. Just helps me for more uniform. Thank you for this video. 💕

Thank you Stephanie for a delicious and easy candy. Peppermint patties are sooo good. These are perfect as little giveaway gifts and sure beats having to do all that Christmas cookie baking. LOVE your videos. Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your family.
Thank you Stephanie for your recipe and instructions for the peppermint patties. I made the filling last night and made them this morning,. They turned out well for a first timer. You explain well.
I am a chocolatier, and this is the best recipe I know of to make peppermint patties. I actually place them inside polycarbonate disc molds for a clean, professional look. I decorate the transfer sheets before putting the chocolate in the molds. This year I made them vegan and they are fantastic! I used coconut cream instead of cream, and Miyoko vegan butter instead of regular butter. I use the salted butter, because normally I would put a tiny pinch of finally ground sea salt in them anyway. It has a very slight, fresh coconut smell, but you cannot really taste the difference. They are just so good! Thank you so much for this recipe!
I was taught to add some parafin wax in the chocolate then once dipped, put candies into very cold water and it instantly hardens up and you dont have to refrigerate the candies. But back then i didn't question if that wax is harmful to health so i guess use at your own discretion and do research on that. I'm def going to be using your recipe for peppermint patties. Love it and thank you!
A candle warmer plate is great for keeping the chocolate melted as you dip. Just put the chocolate in an oven proof dish, (the size of yours) on it and plug it up. You’re welcome! 😊❤ Thank you for sharing this recipe. 🥳
Oh that looks delicious, we don’t have that in my country. Same inspiration as the English after eight. But, one can use other flavors too I assume. Orange would be great, or raspberry. And I am so thankful for the metric measurements. Wishing you and your family a serene Xmas.
Thank you. What a clean well organized kitchen. I hope to use your recipe and process to make gifts for Christmas day! Really did enjoy your show. Wesley

I am on the half of this video and I am so happy with this recipe!! I really love it! It is so easy and delicious! Thank you very much dear Stephanie! Have a Merry Christmas you and your family!!
Hi Stephanie! This sounds as tasty as your old recipe, and a lot easier, fantastic! Just an idea I saw somewhere else: cover with plastic wrap before cutting, that gives it a rounded edge that I think looks cute, plus the dough doesn't stick to the cutter! Thanks! 😘
It's easy to find online! I couldn't find it anywhere here in Spain, but any online baking store has it (in the US probably Amazon too). Best part is even if you only need a little bit, it won't waste because it lasts foreeeeever. I hope your patties turn out great!
Great recipe, Stephanie! My dad and I love peppermint patties! I also have peppermint essential oil through doTerra (essential oil company). I don’t have peppermint extract either. Every recipe that calls for peppermint extract, I just add a couple drops of the essential oil, and it works just as good. Can’t wait to make these! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Jonathan, be careful substituting essential oils for food-grade extracts and oils. Essential oils are not safety regulated by the FDA and ingesting them is not recommended. (yes, even doTerra, despite what the company says) Ingesting essential oils can be harmful in the long term, or even short-term if you use the wrong one. They're great for aromatherapy and for topical use when diluted with a carrier oil, but they're much too concentrated to be safe for internal use. Best of luck!
Those look so good, I’ve never tried peppermint patties before, I love anything mint and chocolate 😍 those look yum. Merry Christmas to you and your family Stephanie, stay safe🎄❤️🧑🏼🎄🎅🏼
Didn't like mint when I was a kid because it was too much like toothpaste. But I now crave something minty once in a while. Definitely going to be making and sharing these soon.

I love the recipes on Joy Of Baking... just wanted to mention on these patties.. if you roll the filling into a log shape then chill it in fridge.. take it out and you can simply just cut the disks out how ever thick or thin you like, Then freeze them.. super fast and easier than the old way of rolling out and cutting disks out.. Just Sayian...
I enjoyed watching this. You have a nice relaxed approach. I use a drip tray for mine and collect the excess chocolate for other baking projects, so the edges of the peppermint cremes don’t have extra chocolate around them i.e. keep their neat shape. I happened to eating some after eight mints when I decided to see how other people make similar treats!
