My favorite will always be When You Die by MGMT's "Go Fuck Yourself" because of how much it shows the break in sanity of the main character, and it also contrasts with the very spacey instrumental of the song and kind of hits you unexpectedly.

The line from Kendrick Lamar - The Blacker the Berry where he says “Excuse my French, but fuck you, no fuck y’all” really brings home the anger of the song to me
Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady" is a pretty good one, too. "Will Smith don't gotta cuss in his raps to sell records, well, I do, so fuck him and fuck you too." Also thanks for including Cupcakke lmfao

I always forget that’s in the song so every time I get to it it knocks the wind out of me, really good use of diction and restriction of profanity to build up the climax of the song

Closer is the extremely obvious choice but NIN in general have used profanity in such a way that it defines them. I gotta say one of my personal favourites is in Sunglasses by Black Country New Road. The live version changes the lyrics a bit from "And you cannot touch me" to "and you cannot fucking touch me", and I love it because it matches the crescendo the lyrics are doing, hyping up the insanity of the protagonist (and Isaac does a great job with the desperation and aggressiveness). Also, that's the point the sax comes in for the first time in that part of the song, and it's just amazing every time.
Yeah the album version gets rid of the swearing. The Single version has quite a bit more swearing, he also says “fuck me like you mean it this time Isaac”. I prefer the instrumental of the Album version, but I like the lyrics and delivery of the single version better.

U is such an emotional song where everything in it create a masterpiece of a song. The screaming, the switch up, the whole thing of the U being him, and every other part of it. No artist other than Kendrick could make it and I think it’s easily his best song with the only other song competing for that being Sing About Me
Xiu Xiu's Mary Turner probably has my favourite use of swearing. For as haunting as the song is, it only saves the swearing for the end where it basically declaims everything that caused the events described in the song.
I know this song is respected by music people but it really does nothing for me. Kim is such an interesting song cause i feel like with cheating people do have these attrocious thoughts and its so interesting to have someone like make a song from it.
I can't even take in how genius it is really. It's the most raw awful emotion and comes off as Eminem having an actual delusional breakdown, and yet some of the lines are so perfectly written to point out his own hypocrisy and disgust with himself, and he bothers to still make it all rhyme which I feel like you barely notice cause of how overwhelming it is. It's an unmatchable blend of truth, fantasy, delusion, hyperbole, theatre and art and I have no idea how he pulled it off.
@@disappointedoptimist255 I only really got into Eminem's music like last month (meaning I listened to his debut album and some singles), but yeah it's just incredible how he writes stories that are kind of so twisted but self-aware. Judith - A perfect Circle contains the one and only expletive on the entire album and it is used to such a great effect as Maynard James Keenan sings about the situation his mother is in and his thoughts on Christianity. His lyrics don't come across as whiny or cynical because he was directly impacted by the subject matter and expresses it in a very mature way
For me it's gotta be the final "Fuck!" in Diluted by Slipknot, it feels like the perfect way to transition into the outro for such a rage filled song & I think you can really hear the anger in Corey Taylor's voice when delivering this line
You can also put in eyeless with Corey's final fuck when he screams "MOTHER...FUCKERRR" I really love as his voice sort cracks and than the guitar riff just comes back as you think the songs over
"Scream" by Michael and Janet Jackson. Them slipping in "stop fucking with me" in the middle of the refrainwhere they're saying "just stop pressuring me" caught me off guard first time I heard it.
Knocked Loose's "Mistakes Like Fractures" goes just about as hard as any song I've ever heard, and it's largely because of the line right before the breakdown: "I followed the rabbit, and I found my fucking ending" Really gets you amped up for the heavy part like a good call out line should. If you take the swearing out of that line, it would seriously weaken the song. Really hope you make a part 2 of this and check it out.
Seing Soad represented on this list was wonderful since the first song i thought of with this title was soil. Serj has a very tasteful way of including swear words to highlight points in the song. Mr jack by soad does this very nicely too.
My highschool band played sugar for a year 12 assembly minus the swearing and my strap broke during the breakdown but I held strong in a fetal position finishing the song.
One of my favorites is State of the Union by Rise Against. The "We're taking on water and about to fuckin sink" is a line that the first time I heard it caught me off guard. The increase of anger in the song works so well even with it being a shorter song. It stand out, to me at least, because the following songs don't reach that same level of anger. Especially since the Life Less Frightening talks about settling for anything better than what there is right now. It's a great starting track that I still listen to consistently.
The “one two fuck you” on No One Is Ever Going to Want Me by Giles Corey is the greatest swear in any song ever in my book. It’s barely intelligible but such a clear transition from melancholy and depression to rage and frustration.
Personally one of my favourite examples is the way Corey Taylor screams "FUCK!" at the beginning of The Negative One right between the pause of the main riff and the drums coming in. It's so visceral and angry sounding, and just immediately tells you the song is going to be a rager from the beginning.
I'll never forget when half of the MAGA squad was telling Tom Morello he doesn't know what the song is about (like he's not one of THE guys), and the other half was saying they missed when Rage wasn't political (literally their entire point from the beginning)
Big fan of Erykah Badu’s incredible build to the single curse word in her masterpiece Green Eyes. The song is her struggling to figure out whether she should be angry with herself for being tricked, or angry at her ex for tricking her. It goes through all the stages of grief, with acceptance merely granted theoretically as the song ends. But the incredible build as she ventures from laughing about how dumb she was, to a painful realization that because she doesn’t know why, it may just happen again. The way her voice is supported but waivers as she says “but I don’t know why I fuck with you” is still, in my opinion, the best use of an F bomb in a song. If you ask me? It’s the greatest break up song of all time.
I love in Scream when Michael Jackson says “Just stop fuckin with me” instead of “just stop pressuring me”, it really hits hard because as far as I know it’s the only example of him cussing in his music
Brad could u do a stream of like Most Vicious Diss Tracks outside of the hip-hop realm? My suggestion would be Mudhoney's Into Yer Shtick, a brutal teardown of Courtney Love in the wake of Kurt Cobains death by one of his close friends and someone Kurt really looked up to Mark Arm of Mudhoney who despised Courtney, one verse goes at hole guitarist Eric Erlandson for him dating a teenage celebrity for the publicity and another going after Hole's manager at the time. The final line of the first verse, "Why don't you, blow your brains out too?" is quite possibly the most unrelentingly venomous lyric to come out of the grunge scene, especially considering when the track was released. Another track i'd reccomend is "Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth" by the Dandy Warhols, a dig at the frontman of the lesser known garage rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre for his heroin addiction which had been slowly deteriorating the band, their friendship with the Dandys, and his own mental state, the song was intended to be a wakeup call to him, but he took complete offense to it, wrote a response called "Not if you were the last Dandy on earth", theres a whole documentary narrated by Courtney Taylor, the vocalist of The Dandy's, about the massive feud that formed in the wake of the songs release between the two bands and went on for YEARS, with Anton, the vocalist of the BJM who the song was about, becoming completely delusional and obsessively stalking them. Even going as far as to send them a package of 9mm bullets with each of their names written on them in the mail.
“Hate me” by Blue October has a single f bomb and boy does it stand out, singer put a ton of vitriol into the delivery, it just works so well with the theme of that song too
One of my favorites is "an introduction to the album" by the hotelier, sets the tone of the album perfectly and the line "the pills that you gave didnt do anything, i just slept for years on end, FUCK" hits so hard every time
this may be a very basic take, but I don't care: Laura by Billy Joel definitely has my favorite instance of profanity in a song. That song is the basically the only time he every cursed in his music and he definitely picked the right time to use it. That whole song makes me wanna rip my hair out in the best kind of way.
I think Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons deserves a mention it really adds to the emotion. My parents tried not to play music with swearing in it, but always let this one play because of how great of a song it is.
The ending of U Dont Know from Jay-Z has always stood out to me bc of the profanity. The 'fucker' before the beat drop just adds to the triumphant "you cant stop me no matter what" feel that the song has.
The Unnamed Feeling by Metallica's lyrical breakdown is one of my favorites. Also, pretty much any NIN profanity feels right with Trent's voice, Somewhat Damaged is an example i particularly like.
For electric Wizard you should’ve also done “Return Trip” with the line “I hope this fuckin’ world fuckin’ burns.” Out of context in a comment like this it may come off as edgy, but combined with the rest of the crushing bassy monolith guitars and the haunting pissed vocals it helps to create an atmosphere of pure hellish misery.
damn i’m so sad i missed this! one of the best examples i could think of was on glass beach’s self titled track. there’s this one line near the midpoint of the song that drops an f bomb (i believe it’s the only one on the album too) and it breaks my heart the way j sings it, shit BROKE ME when i first heard it
First time I was ever shown Kim by Eminem the part that suck with me was the “kim?KIM?! Why don’t you like me?” line. Eminem sounds like an actual nut job in that moment and it really makes the track less gratuitous than something like down with the sickness.
Kim by Eminem is a prelude to 97" Bonnie And Clyde on The Slim Shady LP where he rationalizes his actions to his daughter and has her help him dump kims body in a lake
my favorite example of this is from "laura" by billy joel. only time he dropped the fuck word in his entire career and i think he picked a great spot for it. laura is such an excellent song, one of his best imo and that "here i am feeling like a fucking fool" hits EVERY time
one that i always like is the song cold weather by glass beach, right at the end after all this build up they just scream fuck with so much emotion. there's another good example on their self titled song on the same album, just so much emotion behind everything
Kind of a different one because it’s crowd/concert setting specific but my personal example: towards the start of the second verse of Gold Steps by Neck Deep there’s a “fuck!” in the background that really just doesn’t do much in the studio recording, but in live shows everybody yelling fuck as loud as they can for that bit is so much fun
Kim is one half to the story, 97 Bonnie and Clyde is eminem proceeding to dispose of Kim's body by dumping it at the bottom of a lake with Hailey present while he tries to rationalize what they're doing.
When I saw this video, my brain immediately thought of "Nightmare" by Avenged Sevenfold. I personally feel like the line "It's your FUCKING nightmare!" Just hits right. It feels natural and not forced at all. That's just my 2 cents, though
11:24 I'm a huge Em fan. Kim is the only song I skip every time it comes on I can absolutely relate to how uncomfortable Brad is during the duration of the song
Shake That by Eminem was THE quintessential explicit song that I remember first hearing as a kid, not knowing anything about what they're talking about 😂
My favorite from tool will always be Eulogy from aenima. There's no cursing up until the line "would you die for me? Don't you fucking lie." I interpret that as a follower standing up and challenging their leader to follow through on their promises. Maynard drops another f bomb like 3 lines later, but this is the real turning point of the song where everything goes wrong for the religious leader maynard sings about.
You should listen to the Mr. Bungle self titled album it has to be my favourite album I love the funk and groove that the songs have and the absurd lyrics make it an interesting experience

7 Words by Deftones; the profanity enhances the unhinged, delirious stream-of-consciousness feel no end.
SQUEAL LIKE A PIG WHEN YOU BIG FUCKING BIG FUCKING AAAAPPPPEEEE
Chino is forgiven for dropping the nword on that track
"Scream" by Michael and Janet Jackson. Them slipping in "stop fucking with me" in the middle of the refrainwhere they're saying "just stop pressuring me" caught me off guard first time I heard it.
the 53 second version of i’m the shit absolutely murdered me, the fucking production made me laugh so hard i slammed my face into my bed
Knocked Loose's "Mistakes Like Fractures" goes just about as hard as any song I've ever heard, and it's largely because of the line right before the breakdown:
"I followed the rabbit, and I found my fucking ending"
Really gets you amped up for the heavy part like a good call out line should. If you take the swearing out of that line, it would seriously weaken the song.
Really hope you make a part 2 of this and check it out.
Great example, love that song and the way he basically spits out the word is perfect
After bry says this live, it’s a calling to start crowd killing
love this song. line never fails to make me wanna run through a wall
litterally first example i thought of, great swearing
Shit’s hard but I also like from Billy No Mates when it goes “I’ll call out for help, but I will never call, your fucking name”
Holy shit Serj really does sound like markiplier at some points
@@marcusfaze He kinda looks like his dad too
Kim is so intense. There really isn't many other tracks like it
It really is amazingly written on top of it, and people don’t even notice because of how disturbing the content of the song is.
I think we all know why Brad skipped straight over Daddy like nothing
daddy by korn?
@@cringeybydefault4151 yeah
Fun fact!: Falling Away From Me first played on the South Park episode Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery
Kick out the jams by mc5 (1968) was one of the first profanities used in a hit song. Also it slapps hard asf
Seconded.
The “one two fuck you” on No One Is Ever Going to Want Me by Giles Corey is the greatest swear in any song ever in my book. It’s barely intelligible but such a clear transition from melancholy and depression to rage and frustration.
my favorite album. so god damn good
Personally one of my favourite examples is the way Corey Taylor screams "FUCK!" at the beginning of The Negative One right between the pause of the main riff and the drums coming in. It's so visceral and angry sounding, and just immediately tells you the song is going to be a rager from the beginning.
Fun little fact, Kim is actually the prequel to '97 Bonnie & Clyde
I'll never forget when half of the MAGA squad was telling Tom Morello he doesn't know what the song is about (like he's not one of THE guys), and the other half was saying they missed when Rage wasn't political (literally their entire point from the beginning)
I think Violent Soho's "Covered in Chrome" wouldn't have the same impact without the "hell fuck yeah" to bring it in to the chorus
RAGE. RAGE. RAGE. When Zach De La Rocha swears you know its badass cuz that man is poetic asf
Pigs by Pink Floyd is a good shout. The “fucked up old hag,” really cements Roger Waters’ anger at, presumably… Maggie Thatcher.
And for something less heavy? All This Money by Injury Reserve’s “IM NICE AS FUUUUUUUUC” hits so hard lol
facts
Sucks that "We Cry Together" wasn't on here.
YOU- YOU- YOU- YOU-
@@PicklePyro nah you- you- no you- you
I love in Scream when Michael Jackson says “Just stop fuckin with me” instead of “just stop pressuring me”, it really hits hard because as far as I know it’s the only example of him cussing in his music
Sad to not see radiohead's "Creep". that "you're so fucking special" hits different
TRUE
“Hate me” by Blue October has a single f bomb and boy does it stand out, singer put a ton of vitriol into the delivery, it just works so well with the theme of that song too
I'd add the whole final part of "The End" is one of the most intense sections of a song ever.
I LOVE HATE ME
One of my favorites is "an introduction to the album" by the hotelier, sets the tone of the album perfectly and the line "the pills that you gave didnt do anything, i just slept for years on end, FUCK" hits so hard every time
I think Highly Suspect's use of the word "fucking" in Lydia is perfect elevation.
Dude, I saw that live and when he sang “I can’t fucking breathe” I smiled. It’s just perfect
this may be a very basic take, but I don't care: Laura by Billy Joel definitely has my favorite instance of profanity in a song. That song is the basically the only time he every cursed in his music and he definitely picked the right time to use it. That whole song makes me wanna rip my hair out in the best kind of way.
I think Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons deserves a mention it really adds to the emotion. My parents tried not to play music with swearing in it, but always let this one play because of how great of a song it is.
this is so true
The ending of U Dont Know from Jay-Z has always stood out to me bc of the profanity. The 'fucker' before the beat drop just adds to the triumphant "you cant stop me no matter what" feel that the song has.
Mother by Idles is a great example of this
I love IDLES. Their use of profanity always feels seamless and purposeful.
Kim is like listening to your friends parents fight in the other room while you both play mario party 3.
I knew Killing in the Name would appear, as well as Given up. Linkin Park was my first artist I listened to.
"teeth like god's shoeshine" by modest mouse has the best god damn ive heard in any song
TRUEEEE
I don't even think Jonathan Davis says "Fuck" in Falling away from Me, but rather just "Fall!"
Ain't no way homie just dissed "Falling Away From Me" by Korn 💀💀💀
My favorite has to be 'Soria Moria' by Mount Eerie. Rarely do you hear Elverum cursing, so when he says 'fuck the world', it's just heart breaking.
love your pfp. my favorite album!
I think Will Wood uses swears really well, would love to show you someday
will wood to me is similar to MCR in terms of swear-tier
The Unnamed Feeling by Metallica's lyrical breakdown is one of my favorites. Also, pretty much any NIN profanity feels right with Trent's voice, Somewhat Damaged is an example i particularly like.
For electric Wizard you should’ve also done “Return Trip” with the line “I hope this fuckin’ world fuckin’ burns.” Out of context in a comment like this it may come off as edgy, but combined with the rest of the crushing bassy monolith guitars and the haunting pissed vocals it helps to create an atmosphere of pure hellish misery.
Brad saying Linkin Park didn't age well is a common Brad L.
P.S I love your videos tho even tho i may disagree with some of your opinions :)
Common Brad W actually
“We had some good ideas, but we never left that fucking room” from Size of the Moon by Pinegrove kills me
On an entirely opposite note, Ween has some good ones. The chorus of Piss Up A Rope and the last chorus of Baby Bitch especially
damn i’m so sad i missed this! one of the best examples i could think of was on glass beach’s self titled track. there’s this one line near the midpoint of the song that drops an f bomb (i believe it’s the only one on the album too) and it breaks my heart the way j sings it, shit BROKE ME when i first heard it
First time I was ever shown Kim by Eminem the part that suck with me was the “kim?KIM?! Why don’t you like me?” line. Eminem sounds like an actual nut job in that moment and it really makes the track less gratuitous than something like down with the sickness.
hearing “CHOCOLATE STARFISH‼️” inserted into random songs will never get old
Kim by Eminem is a prelude to 97" Bonnie And Clyde on The Slim Shady LP where he rationalizes his actions to his daughter and has her help him dump kims body in a lake
The opening lines to Survive by Rise Against "somewhere between happy, and total fucking wreck" just have always spoke to me since I first heard it
I LOVE THAT SONG
my favorite example of this is from "laura" by billy joel. only time he dropped the fuck word in his entire career and i think he picked a great spot for it. laura is such an excellent song, one of his best imo and that "here i am feeling like a fucking fool" hits EVERY time
one that i always like is the song cold weather by glass beach, right at the end after all this build up they just scream fuck with so much emotion. there's another good example on their self titled song on the same album, just so much emotion behind everything
glass beach is my favorite band ever, happy to see another fan!!!
Army by Ben Folds Five has a favorite of mine in the first two lines, “Well I thought about the army, Dad said ‘Son, you’re fucking high.’”
Kendrick Lamar’s ADHD is my pick. Something about the way he closes each line with “Fuck That” is just perfect flow.
Agreed!
11:24 I'm a huge Em fan. Kim is the only song I skip every time it comes on
I can absolutely relate to how uncomfortable Brad is during the duration of the song
That’s the song you listen to once, get traumatised, and never again. 10/10.
"im half jewish, cause my mom's a jew, which makes me fully jewish"
He really just one drop rule'd himself
Shake That by Eminem was THE quintessential explicit song that I remember first hearing as a kid, not knowing anything about what they're talking about 😂
I honestly cant believe that Kendrick's For Free? wasn't added to the list
Yeah i remember first hearing "kim" in a random eminem mix and i had to take a break man
the profanity in talk show host by radiohead hits hard
My favorite from tool will always be Eulogy from aenima. There's no cursing up until the line "would you die for me? Don't you fucking lie." I interpret that as a follower standing up and challenging their leader to follow through on their promises. Maynard drops another f bomb like 3 lines later, but this is the real turning point of the song where everything goes wrong for the religious leader maynard sings about.
Carrollton by $uicideboy$ when he rhymes an entire bar with just “f*ck” goes so hard
Best use of text to speech in a track would be fun!
Fitter Happier by Radiohead
ASMR by Only Fire
Lost Boys by Death Grips
Gecgecgecgecgecgecgecgecgecgecgecgecgecgec
I think Paranoid Android uses TTS better than Fitter Happier IMO.
@@happycamperds9917 you know, now that you mention it, I totally agree. Bradley just mentioned Fitter Happier and it’s immediately where my mind went.
The whole han Tyumi and the murder of the universe suite by king gizzard and the lizard wizard would be great for this
Fitter Happier is also a good choice for effective use of profanity. Radiohead use it pretty sparingly, and here it's just weird and unsettling.
i cannot believe you reacted to Jeff Rosenstock man…
listen to “We cool?” and “WORRY.” by him and you’ll fall in love
12:49 the fucking goat scream made me spew pepsi all over my desk yo 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
You should listen to the Mr. Bungle self titled album it has to be my favourite album I love the funk and groove that the songs have and the absurd lyrics make it an interesting experience
DON’T FUCKING LOOK AT ME
He's a bird in flight, a hermaphrodite, and he fucks himself as he fucks THE WOOOOOOOOOOORRRRLLLLLLLLLD
Take a step back by X n Ski is a good example the chorus really energizes you and makes you wanna punch holes in drywall
