- DJ Khaled: "Another One" I bought this 2015 Fiat 500 Pop to list on Turo. I drug it home with @100PercentJake and now I'm going to take it from zero to rental hero in one day. There's a bit of work to be done but underneath this car is still super solid and low miles, I don't think we'll have any issues with it now or down the road. So here's how to take a car from someone else's mess all the way to ready to rent and listed on Turo in one day.

JR went to the DMV, instead of having that special dmv clerk (100%Jake) assist him.......JR could have saved himself some time? 😆 🤣 😂 😆 🤣
*The Government* was unavailable today 😂
😂😂😂😂
Wow, this was very interesting and impressive. I think these Turo fleet videos are a very good addition to your channel's content. When I was looking at the TPMS tool, I thought that is something that you buy when you have the volume to use it, like in your case. Now, I am wondering if you are getting close to the point where you would want to buy the equipment to mount and balance your own tires. Obviously, that would make the cost per vehicle to put new tires on lower, but also save you time - no need to bring it to a tire shop and be limited by their schedule.
Most consistent youtuber out there. Love the dedication, for us, your viewers! Thanks JR!
Thanks for watching! 🍻
@@WatchJRGo thanks for posting! I recently bought one to tow behind my RV but I’ve now fallen in love and want an Abatth.!!! They’re fun stuff, especially for a 6’6” guy. Roomy as can be. Keep it up JR, you’re doing stellar work!
I agree 100%
Man, you're really committed to the rental thing! I hope it works out for you. Last time I rented a car, the engine caught on fire as I was pulling in the the business. And the guy working could care less! Pretty funny.
That was really informative. I now know a lot more about Turo and what it takes on your end.
Good job.
Don't forget timing belt. In europe, 1.4 engines have timing belt in 120k km, and 61 thousand miles are... not that close, but close.
I’m so happy you have one of these! I recently bought an Abarth and it is the most fun I’ve ever had!
I absolutely love my 500 Abarth, and my wife drives a 2016 500 Lounge in the 1957 edition spec. You are correct that the oil is critical, and also (IMO) correct in using only Motul in the Multi Air engine! Great to see some FIAT love from WatchJRGo!
Super curious to see the numbers once you have your fleet in operation. Also super curious about that crusher, but I know we have to wait for that too lol
Man you are going to have a nice fleet of cool cars. Hope you make mad cash. 💰💲
Love your channel! I have learnt many things from your videos. Thankyou for your hard work.
1. JR, surely you know the trackday trick--put painters tape on the car and then stick the temporary license plate adhesive to that.
2. When putting a car on Turo, what business and insurance precautions do you take to protect yourself?
I'm impressed yet again by your ambition and determination. You've come such a long way! How's your dad coming with that car crusher? I'm kinda hoping that you are going to have a chance to give us regular updates on that project. I find it to be interesting as all get out. Peace.
And maybe demoing it on a hopeless specimen....
Totally want to see more on that car crusher as well!!
Agreed, I hope John will at least give us an update video when the car crusher is done. Also fully agree that John's ambition is impressive. Keep up the great work John.
JR did say it would be closer to Christmas before he got back to the crusher.
@@ClubZoltar I must have spaced out on that. Thanks!
i been planning starting a turo fleet for a couple month and 2 of the cars i was looking to buy was a Dart and a Fiat 500 hahahha, im a former mopar tech and i know these very well that help alot when you know the vehicles inside and out and you do all the maintance and repair
This rental lineup will lead to some great and frequent maintenance videos.
So how’s your business going?
Nice. I have 2 Fiat 500s in my Turo fleet. One has 66 trips!! The new one I just bought is a sweet Granite Crystal Grey color with black wheels. It's doing great!
Living in atlanta, it blows my mind seeing you leave the cars running while you go inside lol
Yeah not happening in Baltimore either 😂
you're awesome dude. thanks for making your videos.
Wow, a fancy Maserati steering wheel...🤣
As part of the fleet make sure you do the MA filter every 50k.
You're providing content and making money daily. What a win-win!
Watching you turning bangers into money is just awesome. :)
I can see it now, Scotty Kilmer's next video title: "Here's why Turo with Stellantis vehicles is a bad idea" - then Scotty will tell you to get a fleet of 1994 Toyota Celicas and put them on Turo, of course.
😂😂😂😂😂
E n d l e s s M o n e y p i t s
Looking forward to seeing your Turo financials after a few months. I hope you include when you will be in the black (at the rate of current rental). It'll be interesting to see which car makes the most money percentage-wise.
JR - make sure the HVAC plenum chamber drains are not blocked with leaf debris. They were on my wife's 595 Abarth and it soaked the carpets all through the car. It took close to a month to dry it completely.
I had a pop manual it was a fun car to drive then i got a red turbo .. I stop riding my bike.. one of the most fun car ( is not fast is fun to drive and the turbo makes it more!!)
Love the color
This pop don't have sunroof and automatic it makes it not as fun to drive as the manual
Watch for the motor starter they go down really easy and the hatch wiring usually brakes .. then you can't open the hatch
Those Turo listing pictures are great. Now if only I was visiting the Wichita area.
Love the color of the Fiat. Keep on keeping on.
This should be a hit, the color really does pop 😂
Great video JR.
Congrats. You may be the first Turo owner to ever detail a car.
😂😂😂
Fantastic little cars, love them.
John, I love the background on the Photos for the Dodge Durango. I was a Semi-Pro Photographer (been taking photos since I was 13, I'm 68 now and I just take photos of my cats)!!!
Ha! I bought a 2014 500e. Love the goofy thing. Saving me tons of $$$ too. Neat little cars.
Nice car and color. Good luck with it 🙂
Mines the same color with 64k miles but I have the 15 sport with digital dash and digital climate control, with sunroof. Bought it new. I drive it once a month for a week. I do otr trucking
I hope the turo fleet works out for ya! Make sure to get GPS units installed. I’ve watched horror stories about that. I heard their insurance is pretty good. I wanna start something like this on the side because once you build up a few cars, I’ve seen people make decent money!
I've heard a lot of negative with Turo, but I don't have the time to really deliver them. My local airport will not allow them to be stored so it requires delivery. As far as user perspective, I rented 1 turo so far which was in Charlotte. They had a great system of delivery and recovery with no interaction other than messaging through the app. had to take it to a car wash and vacuum it out when returning before my flight which probably made it easy on them. in an attempt to use one again, I found the delivery fees too high so I just rented one from the airport this time. Good Luck!
Years ago I moved back to Florida and ordered a custom plate for my Trans Am so they issued me a temp.tag that screwed into the bumper where the normal tag goes. I took a trip.acoss the everglades (Alligator Alley) to Fort Lauderdale and when I parked at my destination, I noticed the plate was gone. The screws were still there so the plate apparently tore at the screw holes and blew right off the car. I had to put a cardboard "lost plate" sign on there for the trip home LOL.
What happens if they rent the car and take to another state and don’t bring it back? Will turo pay to ship it back to you?
I am just now getting into turo. I purchased a 2013 fiat sport 100k miles for 5500
Last week.
I had to replace the lift gate handle and the window clip and motor. I just youtube how to do it. It was all really easy. I am listing it next week for about 45 a day. I am in florida and these cars are popular for the beach.
Awesome John Ross
I like this video. Am curious how is your Dad's project going?
I may be just tired, but every time you show the boat in the background I think the outboard motor is the Statue for some reason and it's gotten me more than once.
Love Turo and have considered it many times for listing. Would be very interested in, eventually, seeing a profit/loss video on this.
Yep I use Motul Xcess 5W40 in my Benz and it runs like a top.
Don't bother matching tires on the Turo fleet John. Car rental contracts only obliges the hirer to replace a damaged (during their use) tire with a subjective "like-for-like" and doesn't have to be the same brand. Tire damage is the most common issue too, so you'll be needlessly out of pocket trying to match them when they get returned with a different one on.
Pretty sure he didn't match them because of Turo, but because he's just fussy that way.
Yes, I meant he shouldn't be. I'm that fussy too, but the liklihood is they'll come back with odd tires as it's common damage for hire cars and the hirer doesn't have to match them.
How about some content on that Fox?!? That looks like a nice one!
There is a plastic band-aid on the HVAC controls.... LOL
7:56 Nice one John, just like everyone else.
J.R You are 100% correct on the bright color cars. I am sick of white, silver, grey cars.
Nice!!
You've got me missing my Abarth!
Cool seeing your Turo fleet coming together.
Would love a video on how the turo business is going, was thinking about doing this myself
How long do you think it will take to pay back the purchase price?
great interesting video
You ought to buy a Beetle and Mini for Turo as well, you could have a retro rental fleet, might be popular.
Also if the 500 is being used anywhere salty, the rear beams are prone to rusting so might be worth giving it a paint over.
I was thinking the same
Don’t forget to change the bulbs on the right side of the dashboard (air con controls). They usually go very often on FIAT…
These videos are very inspirational, keep ‘em going and best of luck with the new venture! Would you ever consider listing any classic or specialty vehicles on Turo as well?
Awesome color
JR, you should add a Jeep Wrangler soft top to your Mopar Turo line-up. They are relatively inexpensive to purchase and they rent at a premium, especially in the summer months.
Great little cars but never EVER lock them, its cheaper to lose some change than to replace that top.
Never thought about renting a Car, but after looking on Turo, Im renting a Porche for the weekend this summer, taking it to the beach.
JR, you have the Fiat 500 listed as a manual transmission on Turo. You might want to change that to bring more people in. I hope you can see this! Good work!
I hope he didn't do that on purpose, I hate people who call a shiftable auto a manual. It's not a manual. Manuals have three pedals, end of.
These are common as muck over this side of the pond, do you get the Ford Ka Mk2 variant of the 500 in the US or the twin air 2 cylinder variant.
My cousin has the early 1.2 litre 500 I think with the fiat fire engine which she bought new and remember it had a recall because it didn’t go up hills but apart from that it’s been reliable.
Base high mileage early models of these can now can be had for a grand here and I’m tempted to get one as they make great town cars,
I own Fiat Grande Punto with 1.4 8v (Fire), it has : no power, low need for fuel, super short gearbox (doing 100km/h on 5th gear is like 2.5k rpm) aaand after 13 years - no rust (almost)
my mom has one of those xD, same year yet gray. manual 5-speed.. and with a wing
I’ve got one of these with a ton of miles that’s been hit twice. Tough little car. I wouldn’t call it comfy though.
That color pops. Love the turo car content, JR!
Crushed my dream of renting the '67 Camaro! 😆 Also, this is Kansas, every car is a fishing car!
You could make fortune selling separating knives and fishing string. 😖
@@robertbeirne9813 I love that he called it "fishing string."
I would've changed all the other filters and given it a tune-up, at the very beginning of my ownership, to set a baseline for all future maintenance.
Might want to change the the features from manual to auto transmission I think it will rent better that way
What is your exit strategy on this? Carmax, trading in? And how long do you plan on keeping the vehicle for, specifically for turo? Thank you
Have you checked out the secret compartment ? And front tyres will be every year .but a great car I had one for about 10 years and apart from a battery and front tyres ,it ran perfect.
It was done by a dealer certified technician, but JR has the dealer come to him……..that’s how he rolls…
Love all the videos
Now that your fleet is growing, you should move your Turo operations over to building number two. That way you don’t have randos wandering around your shop.
*not sponsored by Turo in any way shape or form* so you do like 20 videos in a row buying cars for your rental fleet.
i remember when you used to do fun things like fix Geo's. ::le sigh::
Correct, these are good (modern) cars I actually enjoy working on and they have value when they're finished. You know how how it is to sell a Geo Tracker you've got $5k in? It's impossible. 🍻
@@WatchJRGo no one told you to put 5k into a Geo Tracker lol.
my over-all point is, these turo videos smell like they're being made by Turo themselves.
How is the market around you for people renting cars? I am planning a vacation and am going to be using Turo to rent, but was thinking about how a town like yours does.
I think I'm the real test of the market... we aren't a tourism town, only business travel. I'll find out what works and go with those cars 🍻
@@WatchJRGo Sounds great, hope it works out well and can be great content!
@@WatchJRGo But you are near an air base so that should draw quite a bit I would think.
Nice!
You say cars need to be 2011 or newer to rent, but Turo allowed me to select my 2008 Toyota Tundra to use. And in Nashville I found a 2002 Honda Civic listed for like $29/day
Once they’re in they can stay, that 02 must be a monster! 😳
I actually bought a 500 pop as a flip, and all I did was fix the passenger door handle, new shocks, and replaced the steel wheels with a set of Abarth Wheels I picked up on Craigslist. We made 2500 on the car
Do a video on the GPS install and pricing thank you sir
Did you check the state of the spare tyre before dumping the brand new tyre; bet the spare was an original (old) tyre/
But Stay Safe, and keep on going, love the program. -
The spare is a space saver, way smaller 😢
@@WatchJRGo That makes sense; and I noted further on in the recording that (I think) you retained the new tyre. Good, no sense in wasting a good tyre.
Love the program, keep it up !!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an ingenious setup! You'll have plenty of potential videos just on acquiring and maintaining the fleet cars, all while providing a steady flow of income for the shop. It's a win-win!
The 500s are glorified go-karts, and I mean that as a compliment. A friend of mine has an Abarth, and that thing is super fun to toss around corners! It's also insanely quick when the turbo spools up. I mashed the pedal and next thing I knew I was 30 over the speed limit, hehe~
The Abarth is such a good/fun car, I only sold mine because it was straight piped and too loud to start at home 😂
@@WatchJRGo Totally! I recall seeing your videos on that Abarth. Quite a shame they straight pipe'd it like that, otherwise it would be a super fun street car.
So how has your rental with this one going? How much have you made thus far?
Good video
You only use Wix oil filters? Would you use that on your Corvette?
you don't mention anything about insurance. what insurance do you need and how much more do you spend to have the option to rent your car on turo?
Nice to work on? Wait until you change a ball joint on one of these 😂
JR is definitely one of the best RUclipsr out there !
Skinning a fish! 😂 Definitely not a fisherman.
I am not 🎣
I was curious if you had one of these on Turo that was a stick and someone rented it and burned up the clutch what happens as far as responsibility for the repairs?
I looked into Turo a while back and they do include clutch damage in their insurance coverage. It could be tricky to claim though as you have to take detailed photos before it goes out and when it comes back to show other damages. It might be hard to prove clutch damage unless they make it undrivable, otherwise you have to detect, report and prove the damage within a very short time after they turn it in. I think it was only 24 hours, IIRC. As with anything, read the fine print if you're interested in trying it out.
@@mikelemoine4267 thank you for the information, coming into some money when I sell my house in a few days and was thinking about doing a small turo fleet for a little bit of income.
@@mrmontebuilder Good luck, I'm still on the fence myself. If I can find a really good deal on a car to use for it I may give it a shot. The key is buying the car for the lowest price possible as it will be worn out and depreciated pretty fast. Hope it works out for you!
I still can't figure out what JR means by "bluetooth" when changing oil sometimes.
He means hes not using a funnel to change the oil. Just like you cant see Bluetooth connections you cant see his funnel.
You own a Stalantis product. Congrats! JR, are you familiar with the Honda Civic type R? I don’t think they’re available here. I caught a British channel who restored it saying it’s a rare car. Will you be getting a Supra GR? From what a Toyota tech, it puts out 500hp and will be made by BMW withe rest ofther Supras.
I'd love to have the new Supra! 💯
if they must be 2011 or newer (assuming that means no older than 10yrs old) - does that mean in 2022, these 2011 cars will no longer be eligible for use with Turo?
Once you put them into the system they can stay
@@lesterparker1594 Thanks
forty dollars a day seems a bit high, but you are the man.
Man you were way early tonight. I usually watch your channel right after Jimmy Fallon. Nice turnaround time though. Those cars are so small. I knew a girl that had a red one for awhile.
Why on gods green earth do you watch jimmy fallon? The most unfunny government shill I can think of. Dude. Find a better comedian to watch. Even if you are a lefty, there’s way better than him. Jimmy dore. I didn’t think people actually watched that dude.
Rather like these one-day car flips (or Turo fix-ups). Hope this Fiat 500 makes you good money!
JR you need to add a Chrysler Pacifica minivan to the Turo fleet.
How does insurance work on all those cars ?? Don’t some policy’s exclude “renting” the car out ?
what are you using for gps tracking?
Plastic bags? No Christmas tree so I think were good here haha!
