It was a 1998 or 1999 V-6 S-10 pickup.
I can not tell if this will work on another other years or models. I did this one time ever and years ago. If it does please share your stories.
Just cut one of the two yellow wires. If that one didnt work put that back together but cut the next yellow wire a few inches farther as you don't want them cut in the same spot. Then that one whould work.
I hope this helps. Took me a ton of research to figure this out. So many other video's don't show or explain it easily then extra loud music which over powers the speaker. Much less shows it works. I was able to drive the car around to its final destination with no problems.
Also did a P0420 / P0430 O2 by pass fix. Video link

If this was usefull please like it. It helps me with RUclips.
Too many keyboard cowboys on this site with no video's of thier own love to hate.
Here was the link that worked for me but seems now dead. So seach also for bull26 or GM service bulletin 26. www.gmupfitter...

Great!!! Finally someone who gets right to the point and shows me how to solve my ongoing problem with starting van. I had van running in less than 5 minutes. I had listened to tons of videos on this subject without getting info to permanently fix it. We are talking a couple months. Even garage couldnt fix it this easy.👍👍👍 I am a gal on a tight budget...Thank you
Yea I had the same issue so thats why I made the video. Took some reasearch. Even though have to deal with the keyboard cowboy's who can't post any videos tell me how to do it.
had tried two other methods and wasted a ton of time.this method worked out great.thanks
Glad it help i have some on bilding a 4.3 engine too. If you could at least like it. Helps get my videos out thier with youtube.
FINALLY!!!! I just got finished with a 1998 Chevy 1500. Someone had changed the ignition switch and cut all the wires, I can't understand what they were thinking. It took me 5 days (a hour here and there) after Work to figure it out. If I didn't pay attention to this video I don't know if I would have figured it out. Thank you so much for posting this, it really made my day. The dealership is completely useless when I wanted to buy a printout
Did this disable any other systems, like air cond, power windows, gauges, etc?
Nope.
I'm more stupid watch you thats is just lazy why bother ther 19 yellow wires
Thank you sooo much! I’m about to lose my mind over this! I’ll definitely be trying this tomorrow!!! I appreciate you 😊
Tried it on a 2000 blazer and it worked. Thanks.
Beats turn the key on for 10 miutes like 3 times and not working, then guessing resistors. :)
Good one says the same for 2000 impala like how you got straight to the point.
I'm gonna try it on my 99 suburban..thank you in struggling to get it to turn on
Some just mentioned try the thinest wire first. Been so long since i did that video which one of my most viewed.
Well did it wor?. I too have a 99 Sub. Same problem solid light. If it did please share what exactly you did?
Thanks. Saving us all the aggravation which is from the misinformed going on the Internet and repeating wrong info.
Oh yes I got tired of that crap. After much research I figure it out. I hate videos that don't show you the trick worked. It last a month or two without fail till we parted it out. Was a nom payment storage yard truck with holes in the floors and wasn't worth trying to title. So I had nothing to loose.
Sorry for late responce I just do this as a hobby and for the past few years of this never made one dime from you tube. They did that 1,000 plus member bs.
On my chevy colorado I replaced the sensor part ( the black plastic part ) on the ignition lock housing. Part # D1462G and worked. Not cutting wires.
THECDG999 that means your ignition switch was bad. This video is geared towards the actual security system malfunctioning.
@@jamesking3538 it was the secutity pass lock. It wont start , it will take 10 min. After I changed the sensor, all ok.
THECDG999 my mistake, I read your initial post wrong.
THECDG999 ~ Just curious, how much did your replacement sensor cost? Did you buy Part #D1462G "Ignition Lock Housing" then remove the sensor portion from the new housing, and swap out only that portion on your original parts? I can't find anyplace that sells the sensor piece on its own. Frustrating.
@@CALB2009 $38.65 free shipping @Amazon. After you replace the sensor part, (black plastic), have to turn the ignition , won't start.. wait 15 min, turn it again , won't start.. wait 15min. And it will work. Truck need to recognize new sensor.
💯correct, it relearns 0 resistance, 👍
Thanks, it's been driving me F@#king crazy.
Thanks. All my research paid off for a ton of people. Simple as can be. None of that figuring out a resistor bs. Have a few other Chevy video's too like 4.3 stuff. Please like and maybe subscibe. Helps promote the channel.
Mui Bien esxplicado
Well hell I got a 99 Sierra Z71 so I don't know it sounds good . Cuz yeah I thought about getting another switch out of another vehicle, yeah, seen the program videos I don't know but, I've I've got mine to work into the start and ignition area so 😂 can take it out and get key code & make a key, I'll see if it'll program or not & if it won't my do that, good information there thank you & you have a good rapport give it up brother have a good one.💪🕊🍀🙏😏
The bulletin says to start the vehicle with the switch contacts closed and wait for the security light to be on for at least 5 seconds. then the switch contact can be opened. In other words, you have to start the vehicle, wait 5 seconds, then cut the wire. But what if you can't get it started to do the process?
Did you even try and cut wires yet ? Don't recallthe bulletin mentioned cutting wires. If I recall when I did it years ago I just cut the wires without starting it as didn't have the orginal key t start it. Best of luck.
@@mobilemowers I did try cutting the wires first. No, luck with that approach. I ended up doing the full relearn process instead. You have to do the ten minute cycle three times in a row and that will reset the computer. Hopefully I'll not have to do it often. Thanks.
What is the full learn process? @@Makebuildmodify
@@kilam2212You have to do the ten minute cycle three times in a row and that will reset the computer. The ten minute cycle is what you do when the security light is flashing and the vehicle will not start.
Before you cut any wires - Make sure you shut the door before attempting to reset - none of the resources I looked at included that essential tip. It was in the lead in to the video, second paragraph. Van fired right up - I only spent hours because I didn’t shut the door😱
Oh my God.... Freaking thank you!!!! I've spent 4 days working on my truck and had no idea I had to close the door! It worked 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Are you kidding me dude ! Ive been beating myself up for 3 days trying to reset this chevy. What a nightmare. NOBODY else says anything about the door closed. THANK YOU 🙏
no fucking way man I've been doing this for a week I got good results the first time but on the crank final crank the battery wasn't charged enough to crank so I had to redo it all and I've been leaving the door open the whole time wondering why all of a sudden won't work so I'm on my way home to try it again
And there's a hundred vids of people doing it with the door open, so what now?
Dang all the dumb questions asked in comments! will it work for this will it work for that! Good grief you answered and exsplained everything you knew and in easy to understand detail. One even asked if will work on a diesel truck OMG. If they cant understand what you said they sure dont need to be working on their ride.
Exactly. So many other video's say turn the key on 3 times but never work bs. Yea showed how to do it, exact truck it was done on, showed it working and with diagrams. Omg thier security light is on but now the truck works. Big deal. Remove bulb or tape over it. Thier welcome.
I have a 2000 Tahoe limited obs but it uses the 00+ passlock system. The door thing wasn't known till now. I only have one yellow wire though?
Hi, I only covered and only know about Chevy S10 trucks. I have an 04 GMC and they don't use passlocks. Maybe try that passlock relearn w leaving the ign on for 10 minutes, 3 times in a row trick ? Didn't work for me though.
This video is very helpful. I drive a 2002 pontiac Grand prix and i will keep this in mind if i ever encounter this issue hopfully it should work it is also a Pk3 system.
Okay thanks. Mine starts no problem but the security light stays on no flashing.
It will, cover it with tape
98k miles is crazy for a junk car
One question do you have to wait the ten minutes every time, or just the first time? Our problem is that we lost the ignition key and are using another key. Do you recommend paying for a locksmith to make another key or cut the wires like your video suggest?
Sorry I don't check comments to often. I'd did the wires like you saw so that's my only answer.
Any other solutions besides risking cutting wires. Seems like all videos say the same thing and doesn’t work
Some say a resistor. Think you order them by an assortment pack on eBay. Sure you saw those video's. But this idea worked great for me. If you got a 98 or 99 S-10 easiest way to go. I also showed you the diagrams. Cutting one of two wires at time is about easy it as it comes. Then butt splice the wrong one together if you didn't get the right yellow wire first.
Thank you, this appears to be a major screw up with gm engineers, among other stupid designs they have come with!
My shop say's it's illegal.
I worked at GM for 32 years. We constantly were asking if the engineers were just a bunch of drunk monkeys in a room full of parts and what came out was then mass produced...
@@user-sp8eb6iz7f if illegal means my truck starts, then write the damn ticket.
@@user-sp8eb6iz7f what's illegal please explain.
@@ExploringCabinsandMines That's what my shitty 'shop' said - the shops lie and steal, that why Dave Ramsey calls them the "Stealership".
Please tell me that this will work on 1996 Chevy Caprice Classic!!! The car was running perfect. Some idiot broke into the car and stole the stereo system causing it to go into theft mode. I’ve tried everything. Willing to pay any reasonable price to get it fixed!!
Haven't a clue as you saw me do this for an S10 and I had the print out for that truck.
look into Newrockies pro module permanent bypass. I just started researching it so I'm not sure yet
It costs $260 so I'm going to look at it very closely. but it seems to be a permanent (good riddance) bypass for all of the different types of GM Chevy Isuzu anti theft passkey, VATS, and passlock systems. Then you don't have an anti-theft system anymore, but you also don't have an expensive horrible "I will act up on a regular basis" security system giving you wedgies when you least expect it. They claim a one hour installation.
I think I'm going to say yes because I need to move my RV motorhome when check out time. The month is up. I've been trying to get this thing started for 3 days. The RV park owner was pretty awesome to give me a few extra days. They're not full up at this point. He knows I don't have much cash left. Damn I don't know what to do.
I've got about $500. So do I repair the anti-theft system, get some towing quotes or order this thing bypass for $260? I was supposed to have this RV back in Georgia. I guess I should order this thing overnight shipping and spend an hour installing it and hope it starts. Unless there is something else going on too.
If you can get it to start, you can run the vehicle without the security CPU installed. Mine ran that way then I took it to a mechanic to get a gasket fixed....somehow they fucked up my security system again and I am back to square one.... I think I may be botching the relearn process.
So just cut that wire in half and no problems after?
Only issue I had was a security light on. You can even take that bulb out or tape over it. I had tried that security reset with the key on a few minutes then off then on three times for 20-30 times with no luck.
You still didn't explain how to wire it to get it to start? So do I just cut one of the yellow wires and leave them undone?
Hi, Yes cut one of two yellow wires on Chevy S10. Only one will disable the security system. Thought it explained it pretty clear as many people over the past 5 years have used it and never complained. Included copy of the wiring diagrams also. Enjoy
Will this work for a 2000 Camaro z28?
@@MarTheFellaHe showed you diagrams, the guy isn't the encyclopedia of GM vehicles, you expect him to know every vehicle it works on? Try it and see
Without a doubt the Passlock system is the absolute DUMBEST feature ever put on a vehicle.
You’re excluding certain drivers… because, I’ve seen drivers that are far dumber!
Well you never heard them being stolen like Kia's with just a $ $ store usb cable.
Holy shit I have this exact same problem, exact same truck. You are so fucking awesome dude, thank you! This is my Bible for now. Lol
Glad I could help. Took lots of research to find it was that simple. Please like and subscribe. Helps with the channel.
My 03 security light stays on but truck runs n starts w no problem
Black electrical tape will fix that. :)
@@mobilemowers ha . Black electrical tape
GM made a mistake with this security crap !
it bought me a few minutes to grab the goof out of my drivers seat from hot wiring it. he did exactly this, yellow wire cut at the column nothing else, ignition forced. i had an aftermwarket alarm that stopped the fuel pump. saved my truck.
2012 hd 3500 having problem now changed battery and nothing
Can't help you on this. I was covering later 1990's early 2000 Chevy S10 GM passlock systems as mentioned and I tell everyone that asks for other cars ect. Covered when it will turn over but not start and by cutting wires on these older beaters.
Your 2012 is totally different beast and different issues. Following is a list by model year of the General Motors vehicles that have been and are equipped with the PASSLock Anti-Theft System. ... Chevrolet S-10 pickup 1997-2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1997-2004 ...
Red and white, dark green, black and white brown got book on this model last night looking through it,red and white and dark green go to ecm under dash its company truck but one I drive did get it to turn over on fuse box but fuel switch don't think is activated.
Does this work for diesel?
A stated "It was a 1998 or 1999 V-6 S-10 pickup.
I can not tell if this will work on another other years or models. I did this one time ever and years ago"
So im having this problem with my 04 malibu theft light is flashing no crank no start replaced every part but the passkey mod now the thing is your connector only has 3 wires yellow red black mine has 5, two green, black with white stripe a little space then red white stripe and brown should i go with the green ones?
As I replied to everyone and posted in the video I only know about 1998 or 1999 Chevy S-10 passlock removal. Also I did this one time and about 5 years ago. Yours sounds way different setup, car and year. Can always try that 15 minute key cycle. Maybe try some Googling, Facebook groups or forums ?? Else maybe someone else will chime in. Was some comments a year ago about another car if you read below.
Can you be more specific in wich yellow wire to cut please ?
I cut both as stated. I cut them at different lengths so I knew which one went where. So just cut one at time and see if that makes it work. If not patch it back up and try the other one. Only two yellow wires. I did link the service bulletin with diagrams and held the diagram I went off on the video. Pretty simple. All I can remember as did this a year ago.
I have an orange yellow and red. I know not to cut the red but which one should I cut the orange or yellow
@@raskull_ did u ever fix it??
