Thanks for the great video. So much history around you! ❤😊
I like your search for free anchorages.....the footage from the dry sunny landscape with small fir trees and singing cikadas was so much southern France. Good luck going to Corsica.
So much to learn so little time. I have enjoyed your journeys :)
It looks like so much Fun. You guys are awesome
Another great update from Sam Holmes Sailing and special guest Andelina. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Sam. Your cockpit looks like a chandlery and the cabin a waterspouts shop. Best of both worlds
As always Sam you post some of the best videos. I mean you get right into the videos and never include of a bunch of fillers (canned music, aerial shots, and needless intros).
Thanks Sam!
Just a tip for most of the med, the wind tends to die for lunch, its takes its well deserved luncheon :) Morning and evening is the time to sail.
“Fun Police” were something I discovered living in France. They can spot someone having too much fun and it seems they found you! Tisk tisk.
With Mackerel if you start it in a cold pan and just cook one side until it is just shy of cooked it will be super tender :)
love the fishing!!
Hi Sam. I do love your videos. Especially your funny comments on France in the last two. Even for Europeans like me (I'm Dutch) it's bloody hard to grasp their way of thinking. Your remark that made my day was why you put out fenders in this French archorage: "A lot of French boats around".
it boggles the mind
@@samholmessailing Some great minds were investigating how to give France away to the UK after Brexit. For free. The Brits turned the offer down. Reason: It would kill the UK economy.
Great vid Sam!
Hi Sam, love thez channel I thought I saw you in Montpelllier and around the Grande Motte, I was spending a few days there as my parents flew over for just over a week to visit: (I have a hotel in Lourdes)
I should have come and said hello and I regret it now but I never knew youd have ended up there: Keepup the good work: Neil
Next time!
Hey Sam! I love watching your videos. I noticed in one of your videos you also have a Nuvo saxophone. Try putting a reed for a soprano sax in it instead of the plastic reed. I just did it myself and it sounds substantially better!
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for sharing Sam. So I checked, why in France, are some types of windsurfing or wing foiling banned? Please search for: Will foiling be banned in France?
The authorities found that foils considerably increased the speed of water sports, making them more difficult and dangerous to handle. In addition, foils could cause serious injuries if they collided with other sailors or swimmers.
if you get to Corsica , look at Bonifacio. Really nice
Pretty lady Sam ! Its nice not to sail alone.Cheers stay safe.🍻
Hello Sam
Very nice place, the best in the south of france
A nice place where I sailed all my youth. But in summer it's now a little bit overcrowded, unfortunately.
Thanks
That was fun 😊
Now u just need a swabbie and a bigger boat. Ahoy Captain Sam!!
Good stuff Sam. Love the sailing lessons. I have no experience with the sailing software and was trying to find out what app you're using.
I think its called navionics
The map app he uses is the Navionics app. The one he uses with the wind bars is called Luckgrib. I discovered that app through Sam and have been using it for all my sail planning this season in the Northeast US. I have been a huge Navionics fan for years though.
20 minutes old and mines the hundredth like.......that speaks volumes!
Love the videos! Can you explain why you have to put the different country's flags on your boat?
They are called courtesy flags and show respect to your host country. I don’t think they are legally required, but it’s good nautical practice.
Woo hooo!!
Good video
Sam, I noticed that your sailing has changed from long solo trips to short coastal trips. Of course, because you are exploring the Mediterranean coast. I am envious!
Good point! Its always been a mix of long trips and short trips.
By now, you know. Winds here in the Med are variable, too strong, more often too weak, and always from the wrong direction. The most stable is the north western, blowing down France coming out in the bay you passed sailing to Montpellier.
GLAD YOU ALSO TAKE IN THE HISTORY AT EACH STOP. SO THAT MOTOR WORKS FOR THE SKIP?
Sam, first, LOVE following you. You’ve taught me a lot. Secondly, what is the big spool of webbing for on your starboard cockpit???
For anchoring and shore ties
@@samholmessailing makes sense now. Fair seas and following winds!
Great content as always Sam.
Where is yr ultimate destination in Europe this summer.
Where will you over winter the boat
Im planning to sail all winter this year
great!@@samholmessailing
You were just having too much fun with that foil. I bet a neighboring boat (probably French, lol) called in a complaint and the local gendarmes had to respond. Regardless, you're a good sport and I'm sure it would be a very difficult task to ruin your day for long. Best to you both and enjoy!!
Was the last Island Port Cros? It is a famous national park and a favorite spot for all sailors.
I recognise Port Man bay in Port Cros.
Holy mackerel that thing was tiny yet still seemed to have an abundance of meat! 🐟
I was thinking the exact same thing.
That’s what she said…..
Sam! You do not need click bate! Company yes! Now let the dogs bark! Smile!
Nice crew you got Sam. She also know fishing. Thanks for your video.
Where do you intend to go for winter Sam?
What’s the large line reel for in the stern Sam?
Shore ties and anchoring
I bet Anne-Elin would like to learn how to foil! 😎
Yes i had her on the winging on my windsurfer last year in Florida. Hopefully we’ll get her up on foil soon.
Great travel log.
What is the big round object on the starboard stern?
Mooring line for shore ties or stern anchor
No foiling! really. Looks + nice there.
Old Glory is looking a bit rough !!!
my bet is the kite surfing/foiling has been problematic for the boats in the past... imagine a dozen kite surfers in that mess of boats, seems a reasonable caution to be taken. but i could be wrong.
😎
Wait, it just occurred to me, d'ya have a dinghy on this boat??
Edit: oh I just saw that you guys did indeed use a dinghy, but where d'ya store it?
Yes I store it in the cockpit locker
There’s always too much wind or too little…
That's the Mediterranean for you!
Ever just use a fishing pole?
You need a OneWheel!
Would be fun!
Sorry that your wind surfing was curtailed
Time for a new flag Sam
Those damm kites are ruining the oceans 😊
Love the American mispronunciation of the French towns. Mars isle.
what does no prop marker mean ?
That means no anchoring from there to shore
Sam , please crank up your audio volume ...
I watch your videos of cruising around the Med with a babe enjoying life and then I look at my daily 9-5 slog and wonder what the hell I’m doing with my life.
Me too. Buy a sailboat. I did and it’s all on!
What a lovely lady Ann is, so refreshing to see. She is definitely a keeper Sam!! Views and subs guaranteed to go up too.
I think Sam is more into “catch and release.”
Well, who can blame him.@@g.willikers7712
was that ile st honorat at the end?
Should have stayed longer in the riviera
Why are you flying the Norwegian flag on starboard side ?????
She insisted
@kajstorgaard1791 It's a courtesy to his Norwegian companion. I don't think he has a flag halyard on the port side.
les cigales
869th upward thumb of LIKEability.
Sam you need a new American Flag !
That's Europe bud all over!
I camped on the west coast of Spain and got my camper gas out in the morning for me coffee. Two officials of sorts arrived and asked if i camped there for the night... Of course i didn't.. lol
Then they told me not to light the camper gas due to a forest being half a mile away from me, "one spark you know." Just as he said that a fighter plane passed over head with such force the tops of the forest trees moved. Europe is unreal with stupid regulations.
But the USA is catching up fast!
Mistral. Simoom. Watch the Autumnal winds…
you need to show your daily house chores washing laundry cleaning dishes and so on. I have a lot of questions of day to day life while at sea.
I just go to a laundromat to do the laundry and wash my dishes in the sink so not any different than normal on the boat.
Make Anna permanent..😉😉
Needle drops on Brandy, by Looking Glass….
9:40 You were having too much fun. They frown upon people enjoying themselves over there 🙃Keep up the awesome lifestyle man! Thanks for the vid.
Good thing about being on a boat is I can just sail somewhere else 😃
Great video. You should look up French name pronunciation for fun :) The US pronunciation of French places is very amusing.
They seems to spell everything so differently than they say it so I have no clue lol
Fun fact, French (and English!) are both phonetically inconsistent (words aren’t always pronounced as they are written) and hence these languages are difficult to learn for foreigners. Think of English words such as “read” and “bow” which will be pronounced differently depending on context. On the other hand, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese are much easier in this respect. No exceptions, always sound the way they read.
They minimize windsurfing to minimize young careless punks that are known to creat trouble... It's not only inforced in france...
Hello Sam, and hello beautiful young girl who looks like you stepped out of Johannes Vermeer's painting Girl with a Pearl Earring as the main character. The resemblance between the painting and you is amazing! I wish you all the best during your trip!⚓🌞⛵🐟🌻🍀
if it uses oil - it's all good; if it uses wind - well maybe, OK, I guess. Something not a sail-boat - NO f-ing WAY!!!
Progressive, until they're not.
Haha 🤷
Nice crew
Not to judge but Marseille France is pronounced Marsay, if you can stand the correction?
Thanks for the correction
We past that lighthouse last summer heading the opposite way :)
So... Leaving the open waters (S2#27)

Very cool! Great video
Whaaaat that makes no sense, no foiling! Classic European rules!
You'd better marry her Sam. She's smart and is a mega-babe.
Hey Sam, just curious, on such a small sailboat, does sweet Anna have herself enough privacy when it comes to her taking care of all her “business”, if ya know what I’m saying?? Isn’t your head a BUCKET? Poor Anna 😢
😂😅
Stupid rules- no windsurfing? And police with nothing better to do?
You need to complain to the legislative branch, not the executive one.
Please buy a fishing rod, they are not that expensive, stop using that ugly reel that you have to wind up by hand and the minute you do it the fish went for a walk somewhere else.
Ughh man, as someone half French your pronunciation of Marseilles pains me ;-) but your choice to sail around France does not ❤️
I’m only here for the bikini shots…no, just kidding,…but maybe not. Idk.
Foils are responsible for the increasing numbers of Green sea turtles deaths. Foils are the reasons that you're seeing decapitated green sea turtles in Hawaii
Oh no those poor turtles. Ive had a couple close calls with them myself. Will avoid their hot spots in the future.
