    I come from Germany and I am amazed at how much the stereotypical car drivers in Germany and the USA differ.
    I have to add something about automatic cars, though: For people who like to actively drive (and you can do that here), a manual transmission is better, and for people who just want to get from A to B, an automatic transmission is better. You won't see anyone here driving round the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring who is happy to have an automatic car - because there won't be anyone who would do that.
    But just categorising a person as manual or automatic is a very good way of stereotyping people.
    Even though I hate to say it, in Germany the stereotypes of car owners differ mainly in their country of origin. What I've also noticed is that tuners are the car equivalent of a classic metal nerd. I don't know if it's the same for you. Another thing you like to see in Germany is that successful business women often have a BMW.

      I'm 29 and American - I agree with your take on transmissions. I have two cars, one auto one manual. Overall I prefer manuals, they are much more fun, they keep me focused on driving, and they're generally cheaper to fix and more reliable. The automatic is definitely nicer for long road trips though, especially with traffic.

    One thing to add, I'm only at Honda...but the Nissan Skyline was the Alpha of all tuners to get. Followed by the Acura. Lol

      @nomeru_0 Год назад +1

      Skylines and Silvia's were the top tier tuners cars throughout the 90s. After that it would've been the rx7 and supra then under those i would say it was Honda. May have been different over in the US though because a lot of import cars were banned over there.

      @@nomeru_0nothing was banned per say, japanese companies just didnt bother trying to get those cars to comply with U.S. emissions and safety standards and left us in the dirt

      @@yourgrandmasjzexboyfriend they never made a US spec version because In the late 90s when they were building that car, Nissan was on the brink of bankruptcy and they couldn't afford to take chances on America. The s15 was released in even less countries than the r34 for that same reason. AU and NZ were the only countries that got that car

    Years ago whenever I would come across a Subaru owner I would joke with them by asking if their Subaru came with a Ani Difranco CD. Some chuckled, some sneered but it went over most peoples head resulting in a blank stare.

    I live in Minneapolis and it seems every Subaru comes out of the factory with an NPR sticker and the Whole Foods parking lot is pretty much the owners’ carhop lot.

    The reason we have all of these luxury Japanese brands is because of our cultural mindset here. We need to feel like we shop at a fancier store, not amongst the other peasants buying cheaper brands. It’s completely a cultural thing that doesn’t exist in Japan.

    I actually own a 1990 Integra hatchback.. and yes, it’s a 5speed manual.😂
    I’m selling it though. Reinvesting into getting my food truck open. We own a few cars and it’s the one I’m most willing to part with.

    I can see why someone in Seattle might want all wheel drive, if they leave the city often to go to the mountains in the winter. It's a different story here in eastern Wa, that being said all wheel drive is good if the WRX peeps like racing people as well, the extra traction is a bonus when launching.

    I live in a mountain town and half the population drives a Subaru, Tacoma, or 4Runner, almost always decked out with outdoorsy accessories that stay on all year, just to be a part of the lifestyle, or something
