Rear door speaker installation video for the 5th gen 4runner sound system upgrade. This is a DIY audio upgrade with hardware and speakers purchases though crutchfield.com. It was over all a very easy process. I went with rockford fosgate speakers and they really sound great for being with the stock head unit. The Toyota 4runner sound system upgrade is very simple, yes there are kits out there, but this DIY is for a eighth of the price.

Got any idea of the top mount depth of the rear doors n rear hatch? Looking for 6.5 speakers but unsure what will fit. I dont mind using spacers if needed.

If you call crutchfield just to pick their brain, I’m sure they will know.

I just spoke with Crutchfield and they said, 6.5’s are factory but they are a small 6.5.... They recommend 5.25’s because of speaker mounting depth. I want 6.5’s.
