two things: the eggs kill the chics and the chics suffocate in solid blocks. fix #1 move the egg dispenser one block higher so the eggs hit and chicks fall down, one blcok out of the line of fire. fix #2 replace use glass for surrounding blocks.
NOTE: you'll have to move the hopper timer and egg collecting hopper up one block as well and add a block on top of the rear most upward facing redstone torch to make all this happen.
Great cooker! For those using MCPE, I just built this and it works with just a slight change. In MCPE 0.15.7, the chickens would fall through before actually being lit on fire. If you replace the half slab, connected to the sticky piston, with an iron block everything works perfectly.
I really like this CCv2. I did make a few changes to the finished product though. I replaced your wooden planks, logs and wooden stairs with red bricks (oven!), glowstone blocks and stone brick stairs for contrast. Then I enclosed the whole contraption with the red bricks and accented with the stone brick stairs (and more glowstone around the corners for light) not forgetting to put a torch behind the top redstone torch to make sure nothing spawned inside. Finally, I wanted access to the egg dispenser so I could either add eggs I've picked up or remove eggs for other recipes (cake!). So I opened up the enclosed section on the left side of the contraption next to the egg dispenser. Put in a half slab on the bottom of the open area and put a wooden trap door on the half slab so it covered the opening. Since the dispenser is three blocks high from the ground, I put a stone brick block and stair on the ground under the trap door and sign above it reading "egg dispenser". So now it isn't just a Chicken Cooker, it's also an Egg Dispenser, too! Now it's a CCv2.1 Note: the glowstone could be replaced with Jack o' Lanterns for a CCv2.1 that doesn't require a visit to the Nether.
Hey Mr. Crayfish I think the contraptions up you come up with are amazing and I just wanna say your one of the best youtubers out there and you deserve like 100000000000000000000000 (maybe that was an overkill) subscribers!!!
love 2 things about ur tutorials. 1 you give full list up front. 2 you don't just fly around to build it. bonus points for explaining how the redstone wiring works
Had to modify it a bit to make it work. The 3-dropper 1-hopper bit at 3:47, I instead made the forward-facing bottom dropper a forward-facing hopper (so the hopper drops into another hopper that then just puts it back into the upward-facing dropper). And then instead of a button on that side, I installed a lever. Otherwise, everything is perfect! Thanks!
Thank you loads, mate. Had a lil issue burning the chickens on Pocket Version, however solved it by replacing the flint and stone, with fire charge. Works perfectly.
Thank you very much for mentioning HOW to get the funnel to change direction. I am one step closer to doing it "correctly" now. I didn't know you could manipulate it that way so my hoppers were always full, and chests empty. No one else ever mentioned crouching to change the hopper position that I've seen so far.
I know this comment is old but it's becuase that the max amount of entities allowed in one block is 25 and if you exceed this limit it will kill any mob until it reaches 25 again. Eggs count as entities so it still works. You can get rid of this with a command though.
well it's really useful, but it can be even better... you can make it completely automatic by using a comparator behind the dropper that drops the eggs. It will make a redstone signal while the eggs are in the dropper, throwing them out. after that, you can take an endless lava block, I mean it doesn't disappear; a slab under that and it's done. the baby chicken that spawn on the slab won't burn cause it's too short, and it will burn when it grows up
MrCrayFish you are the best and I have been watching you for 12 hours. I have a idea for you every redstone creation put it into a one house that would be the best.
This is a really sufficient chicken cooker. My only request would be that the egg dispenser be one block higher than the cooker just so you don't have to hear the chickens squalling every time an egg shoots out.
Works better than anything else I've found recently. Only issue is that loads of the baby chickens fall through the half when the dispenser is firing eggs onto them.
The chickens in the back breed until they die of cramming putting chicken meat and feathers in the egg dispenser. They also do not lay eggs when crammed like that. I just tested it in 1.11.2. Other than that brilliant design.
About what success ratio do you expect to get when you cook your chicken? When I built this most of them don't end up in the chest or even the hopper. It seems to overcook at least 80% of them.
its not working for me , I'm trying lol the back Redstone torch isn't staying lit up that's under the hopper and the Redstone comparator in the chicken place is blinking ....helpppp ☺
It really worked after I was doing some adjustments to it what's a good chicken for maybe slow but it gets you meet in the end so I care for. Whoever made this I'm giving them 5 + Stars just for working so I have a big problem with things. Working my world
retracting sticky piston doesnt drop all chickens down because chickens jump up when burnt, they stay out of hopper and die because the piston blocks them from falling down after they jumped.
How do you come up with these amazing ideas. They helped my sister and i build more advanced red-stone contraptions. Your videos are sooooooo inspiring. Keep on making awesome videos :)
+MrCrayfish So just as some heads up, this is not fully functional in the current 1.9 snapshot as the eggs being fired out can and do kill the other chickens, I have managed to tweak some things to get it so this doesn't happen as often however it is not entirely avoidable.
+TheKidnappedOne Use a different, crude design. I could link you to it, or just take screenshots and show you. The baby chickens get pushed to the corners, so the eggs don't hit them.
+Alaska P I should have updated this sooner, but I was busy getting ready for Setsucon. Since I'd posted it, Mojang have released at least two snapshots which had fixed this issue generally, however with that said, I would recommend having at least two block space above the chickens to be cooked to avoid the issue in the long run.
Hey Mr.CrayFish your a nice youtuber but i have a suggestion can you make a redstone contraptions or trap or anything redstone vid but made for pocket edition 0.14.0 pls and i will keep liking all your new vids :)
I have a problem. My redstone torch, next to the comparator, keeps enabling the comparator, which disables the other redstone torch, enabling the hoppers to move. This is causing my eggs not to fire out! Can you help?
I built this but whenever I press the button to kill the chickens and the piston retracts, the chickens just jump back up and then the piston extends again and the chickens die on the platform instead of the ground so their drops don’t go into the chest. How can I modify the Redstone to make the piston stay retracted for longer so the chickens can’t jump back up? Redstone repeater?
the auto chicken farm is better, less lag because the baby chicks get burned as soon they get big and you need less materials (just 2 hoppers, 1 dispenser, 1 chest, 1 half slab, 5 red stone dust, 1 repeater, 1 comparator, 1 bucket of lava, and some blocks of chose)
Could someone help me? I discovered something, the piston gets to signal to move the slab too fast, sometimes some chickens stay on top of the slab and die over the slab, some items dropped could stay over the box, another problem is that if you hurry and you kill the chickens when small chicken are inside, those small chickens could scape from the structure while burning, I solved it not using the second repeater from the left side(the one with 4 ticks powering the piston), instead I added repeaters with a total value of 17 ticks, all of them after the first repeater(the one with 1 tick), so there are 18 ticks for the signal to travel after the button from the left is pressed. I found out that's the perfect time, all chickens burn completely and the slab opens right in time...just 1 tick more and items would vanish. My question is ¿How do I delay the signal without using too much repeaters but at the same time keeping control over the ticks? I mean...repeaters occupy too much space...
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I did everything exactly as shown but the eggs are staying in the hopper. I hear a clicking that is the two hoppers that have an item going from one to the other and back. Please help.
This looks smart and very usefull, I have built it on a survival server however the eggs that are collected and make the chickes spawn are no use because the baby chickens just die because a 1x1 block is not enough room. Is there a way around this?
two things: the eggs kill the chics and the chics suffocate in solid blocks. fix #1 move the egg dispenser one block higher so the eggs hit and chicks fall down, one blcok out of the line of fire. fix #2 replace use glass for surrounding blocks.

"Don't worry, the eggs don't actually hurt the chickens"
+Drew Elliott that happened to me but i fixed it by moving the dispenser abit up so the chicken cant get hit and i don't waste eggs
+The Duck Voice good idea
+The Duck Voice t how do you do that do yo have to add more red stone
lel they dont die you her them ge hurt but dont lose damage
Lol

Ok maybe little

Thank you loads, mate. Had a lil issue burning the chickens on Pocket Version, however solved it by replacing the flint and stone, with fire charge. Works perfectly.
when i made it the first time it burned down because i used wood
Hey Mr. Crayfish!!! Your contraptions are so awesome, i will watch all your videos and give it a THUMBS UP!!!
Could you start making a part where you tell us how much room were going to need?
Like if you agree
+xX Samuel GB Xx I don't find it to be necessary. Never had anyone say it until now.

for anyone having the issue of chickens walking into the wall and dying you can just replace the solid block with some glass or fence
Awesome like always for redstone noobs like me : )
+ChronoPlayZ Minecraft and More I hope you do learn somethign from it at least :)
+MrCrayfish I did indeed :)
+The gamer guy 467 #meto

Juan Ramirez So do you.
You earned a new sub, I just started with minecraft and I absolutely love redstone, thank you for your detailed explanations! :)
Unfortunately the baby chickens walk into the wall and die ;-;
samething happens here,
replace the block they are walking into with either glass or fence should fix it for ya :)
"Don't worry, the eggs won't hurt the chickens" *few minutes later* "there, and the chickens are on fire". 😂
Honestly tho, this tut is amazing!
For some reason the eggs actually kill the chickens, any explanation?
Jorge Gaspar I guess you could try lowering the population of chickens that are laying eggs
I know this comment is old but it's becuase that the max amount of entities allowed in one block is 25 and if you exceed this limit it will kill any mob until it reaches 25 again. Eggs count as entities so it still works. You can get rid of this with a command though.
Yes, stop throwing eggs at the chickens
Another great tutorial pls continue love your vids

MrCrayfish you are the best with your redstone and your mod (furniture mod)
you didnt even show how to put the eggs in
You don't put the eggs in they are created from the chickens in the 1st box
So nice
MrCrayFish you are the best and I have been watching you for 12 hours. I have a idea for you every redstone creation put it into a one house that would be the best.
PETA will attack you for this lol.
Hahahahah caged eggs😂

Just to let you know it doesn't work in 1.9
in 1.9.4 the Baby Chickens suffocate for some bizarre reason!
Ya ikr
Well, it works for me in 1.9.4 .-.
Well, it works perfectly for me :D
I use this machine in every world I make and always have to come back for another round of tutorials 🤣

Hey Mr.CrayFish your a nice youtuber but i have a suggestion
can you make a redstone contraptions or trap or anything redstone vid but made for pocket edition 0.14.0 pls and i will keep liking all your new vids :)
Would it still work if I used another hopper in place of the piston for pocket edition
No
nice as always!
+Tomek Styn Thanks :)
+MrCrayfish thank you too.
A tip for someone who doesn't have 1.9 instead of a T switch use a sticky piston and a redstone block system and instead of a button use a lever.
Mr crayfish you are sooo awesome!!!
I have a problem. My redstone torch, next to the comparator, keeps enabling the comparator, which disables the other redstone torch, enabling the hoppers to move. This is causing my eggs not to fire out! Can you help?
hi Mrcrayfish im will download and like your furniture mods your mods is Fantastic
Awesome tutorial
thanks for this Tutorial😃
do you really need the sticky piston or is it optional
Yea was thinking the same thing for my mcpe build
i think its optional
u can use iron trapdoors and pit a block r.torch so its gonna power on when its active
+Jan Kyle Bustamante Can u explain it more?

Would it work with lava instead of flint and steal?
The way you made the second one the chest won't open as there is a block above it? Can you help please
Use an upside down stair over the chest.
hey mr. crayfish, can you use something. besides pistón couse i play. in pocket. edition
+Antonio Cardozo no
flip the slab put lava in the empty spot above the slab use the space from where the piston was to move the egg dispenser down viola automatic
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I did everything exactly as shown but the eggs are staying in the hopper. I hear a clicking that is the two hoppers that have an item going from one to the other and back. Please help.
I have to ask: why are you cooking your chickens instead of drowning them for the raw chicken for emeralds trade?
(I may be an emerald fanatic tho).
I love your work
This looks smart and very usefull, I have built it on a survival server however the eggs that are collected and make the chickes spawn are no use because the baby chickens just die because a 1x1 block is not enough room. Is there a way around this?
Mr. CrayFish, can you please make more mcpe tutorials because 0.15.0 beta 1 came out recently and it includes pistons and some other stuff from 1.9
Instant sub!
Which screen recorder do you use
+Spring Trap ok thanks
Does Flint and Steel actually produces fire if in a dispenser in 1.17?
