  • The Helios Squat Bar is a top-tier, specialty barbell designed specifically for squats. Since 2012, we focused on a lot of other pieces of strength and conditioning equipment, but had never truly taken our barbell lineup to the next level. However, we took the last couple years to redesign our entire barbell lineup from the ground up. We have painstakingly engineered every inch of our new barbells to be some of the best in the world.
The Helios features a longer length (94.5" or 7.9’) than a standard 20kg barbell (87.4" or 7.3’). This helps prevent the weight plates from hitting the power rack uprights while racking or unracking the bar. The squat bar’s shaft diameter is also larger, at 32mm, versus a standard powerlifting barbell, which is 29mm. The thicker diameter adds rigidity to the bar and minimizes whip/flex during heavy loads for a more stable squat. Due to the longer length and thicker shaft diameter, the Helios Squat Bar weighs in at 25kg (55lbs), which is 5kg (11lbs) more than a standard 20kg (44.1lbs) barbell. The Helios features a fully knurled shaft, which ensures maximum points of contact to create a secure connection to the bar.

Not sure if this thing can handle my MONSTER 185 lb Squat! Great specialized bar for those HEAVY HITTERS

Absolutely. And a more comfortable bar to squat with the larger diameter.

Is this made in the USA?

I know it isn't designed for benching -- especially with the aggressive knurling -- but I would love a thicker bar for benching. Is it uncomfortable to use for benching?

Funny you ask that. I actually like it for benching and deadlifting. Deads because of the thicker diameter... makes it harder to pull, especially with little whip. And for bench because it's a bit thicker of a bar and easier on my wrists.

@@REPfitness Thanks for the response! I'm going to check out the pre-order on it. Yes, thicker bars are more difficult for deadlifting, but I already have a great bar for that!

I’m a 6’4” lifter with longer arms. I have issues with snatching because Olympic bars feel short. I know this bar is heavier and the shaft diameter is thicker. Other then those things, how does it transfer to other lifts? (Just the snatch for me)

With Oly bars, you want the flex/whip... this bar is intended to do the opposite. So it'll be just fine for other pressing movements... and even for deads if you want a stiff/thick bar... but for Oly... I'd highly recommend our Alpine bar for those movements with it's hybrid needle bearing design.
