This is a brilliant solution that worked well for me. I used a 5mm silicone hose from the fuel cylinder and a short section of 8mm tubing to connect the primary tubing to the 13mm torch body. Friction fit was all that was required. Also, I did not need to chop off the inlet valve on the torch, just unsrewed it using a jewellers screw driver. Koodos to the author.
I think sacrificing a blade screwdriver will work too. Put the screwdriver in a vise and with a hacksaw cut a notch down the center deep enough to clear the nipple. Widen the notch as wide as the nipple with a hobbyist's file.
I've lost the disc while trying to clean it. Years after, I've managed to make a new one out of soft drink aluminium can. I measured the hole in the torch, then I took a belt hole puncher (pliers) got the appropriate size and made a small disk, took a needle and made a very small hole in the disk, works perfect.
The jet can be blown out with compressed air backwards without any disassembly apart from removing the locking screw and unscrewing the whole front end, valve, neck and burner. the other problem with bubbles of liquid is easily solved by preheating the burner and neck before lighting. Contaminants also get into the one way filling valve resulting in leaks, again you can remove the front and blow it out. A very small o ring from a disposable cigarette lighter can be put on the one way filling valve stem and helps to minimise leakage when filling.
dude, that's fantastic! I had those problems immediately with the little torch. I don't always want to fire up my Oxy-Acetelene setup and it seems that my map/oxy setup is always out of O2. threw away the one of those little torches I had purchased, but now I'm confident it can be worked with the next time. thanks
Fantastic idea, I was wondering if I should struggle with the tiny torches, the chefs brulee torches or invest in an oxy mixer set. This idea seems to be the best of all worlds giving the highly controllable mini touch a much needed extended flame life.
When you remove the flame tip from the tube, there is a tiny round metal piece that has an invisibly fine hole in it.... This tiny flat circular insert is the Jet Hole & is what needs to be cleaned and unblocked... IT MAY NOT COME OUT.. But if u didn't know to look out for it, the chances of it being lost is fenominally high indeed .. Soaking the whole tip in a solvent is the best option, if jet disk does not come free of it's own accord, I would check if the blockage has cleared, before attempting to dislodge it, as delicately as you possibly can.. (I shaved a match stick down, leaving the end blunt, to carefully poke it out).. DO NOT attempt to clear a blocked 'Jet Hole' with a needle or anything that's Sharp, as the hole needs to be microscopic and if you widen it, the flame will be more like a candle than a Jet.... Soak it in a solvent agitating it regularly, then wipe it & carefully reinsert it into the hole in the Center of Jet Tip, then screw the pipe snugly up to it, thus holding it in place.... Good luck... 🤘😁👍
nice improvement you did there ,take something cheap and make it a valueable tool , i have one of those gas torch and i found that a accupunture needle works great to unblock this tiny hole
I was thinking if there might be a rubber pipe cap that can be fitted on the back end to keep dust and dirt from accumulating on the refill valve? Maybe most of the contaminates are external and not from the fuel source?
Man how the hell do you make something good EVEN BETTER???? Well anyway the cleaning part of it was very helpful the rest is for other things I might have to use for later, thanks a lot 👍
I have one identical to these, I bought it in the early 90's and it has never clogged or leaked, I bought a gem. Ive always used brand name fuel with so so results, I decided to try some china brand fuel and it worked better than any brand name Ive ever used and half the price.
Great video mate. Wot the connection on the cooking can? I have had much luck with those torches. Had one purchase years ago and worked great. Purchase 2 a coupe years ago. One for brother. His worked and mine didn't work from new. Good tips mate. Cheers Graham.
Wow. Was just about to throw mine out and then saw this. Thank you so much, it's working fine now. Couldn't tell us where you got your vibrating cleaner from could you?
Hi. I guess that I lost some O-ring of mine and I get just lightning like a candle. Can you take a look into the valve or burner to check it out and tell me please? Thanks!
I have been doing jewellery for 30 years and use these evil little buggers now and again and have lost my eyebrows from time to time when they decide to play up ( very often ) what a good idea I will give it a go , thanks .
Greetz, I was looking for such a solution (on modifying with the hose) about 2 years ago, but at that time I was unable to find any directions... 😣😑 So happy I "accidentally tapped" on your video. Thank you for sharing ! 🤗 Best regards, ☺
Would you be kind enough to let me know if you made any modifications to the gas supply pipe at the top of the cooker gas fitting, which, presumably had the burner and jet removed when the silicone pipe was fitted?
So I will cut straight through the back of the pencil tube to insert it into the silicone tube but do I have to remove anything else from inside the pencil tube or that's it
I just got a pencil torch and very much would like to set it up as you did. Im not sure where to find the larger butane bottle and attachment or hose. could you tell me more on this? great video thank you!
Hey can you make a video on how to make a solderig torch tip that can fit on any butane torch or just how to make one period? If its possible i mean thank you
This was so useful I just HAD to subscribe!! Would love to know what Chinese outfit you got them from and would also be very obliged if someone could tell me where to get the little vibrating cleaners. Thanks for sharing.Along and happy life to you.
Well done presentation, Quin! Easily understood. Wouldn't it be faster and stronger to solder the neck to the knurled adjuster rather than using epoxy? Or with a small vise grip carefully grip the neck while releasing the lock tight connection to the nozzle?
you'd be better off using a compact propane tank, a regulator valve, some braided vinyl rated @ 200psi, and some ear clamps. the gas going through the hose won't go higher than 80 psi but the hose should last a while since it's rated for gas at higher pressures.
hi i cleaned this the other day, and now the torch wont work.as in no blue flame.just fire.., coming through the holes.. as in my big torches too, nothing.no blue flame that i need!!! whats goin on! oooh ok i see i messed it up.using a pin.. great now what do I do? i have the same torch..
got one today. doesnt seem to work.ill try it again and see. thanks. I got it to work. so far ok. but now I see this seems like a lot of work to clean it. maybe u can show what u did to rig it up the other way..thanks!!!
Propane is much higher pressure than Butane. I use Propane in mine because it has a metal body. I just bought an adapter to screw on the propane bottle and fill it just like butane. I think propane is a dirtier fuel so may have to clean the orifice a little more often. People that go camping in the winter often use propane in their butane lighters as long as the lighter body can take the pressure.
Thanks for info and inventions! Did it happen to you experience the torch doesn't switch off imediatelly after full off? I continue to work for up to 4 seconds. Is this normal?
Hello Steedcraft, I have such a little torch, the only thing is that it doesn't work, when filled up with gas their is no gas passing through the burner itself. I detached the burner like in your video and cleaned it like showed (using acetone) but there was no inprovment afterwards....Could it be because acetone is maybe a wrong solvent ?
Go to a smoke shop because they sell x2-x10 filtered butane cans. I’ve had mine running for about 2 years now with no issues. The more filtered the better….it will be a bit pricey.
get different fuel...i use Vector muti-filtered fuel...and so far i have'nt had any plugs in my mini torch...theres 1 thats been flitered 14x's per the butane label...an its pretty cheap too
omg thank you! This little torch has been nothing but a problem since I got it and your video helped me solve all the issues I was having with it.

Brilliant tip! I’ve wondered about doing something like that for a very long time. Thanks for proving it works!
Thanks for the info, i took my jet lighter and heated the tip. Only for 5 seconds or so, maybe twice and it cleared the tip really well.
Thank you . Ive had one of these since 1990. Cleaned and soon to be Upgraded !
After watching your video, i bought from online this pen torch just for fun... looks cute, i have a Mapp gas torch for refrigeration... thanks

Thanks really 👏👏👏 and seriously keep it up because really this world needs your ways !

Very beautiful knowledge and perfect you explained it.
that explains why i had returned 2 of those torches.....i had exactly the problem you described.
I was thinking if there might be a rubber pipe cap that can be fitted on the back end to keep dust and dirt from accumulating on the refill valve? Maybe most of the contaminates are external and not from the fuel source?

Brilliant, thank you for your upload..The troubles ive had with these little pencil burners Is Now Kaput...YAY. Cheers from a happy Aussie....
Brilliant modification!! I love it!
I've put a small piece of cotton wool behind my jets for years now, stops jet getting block and is very easy to replace.
great advice don't even have to try it personally 1st to know it would work..thx for the informative video
I am going to scoop mine out of the bin right now!
Marvelous idea. Thank you for sharing it with everyone.
Wow. Was just about to throw mine out and then saw this.
Thank you so much, it's working fine now.
Couldn't tell us where you got your vibrating cleaner from could you?
I've two of these torches and as you say they block....so thank you for your video it's a grate help :8)
i have one question were did you purchase the adapter for the bottle ,? what's it called ill buy on Amazon
Hi. I guess that I lost some O-ring of mine and I get just lightning like a candle. Can you take a look into the valve or burner to check it out and tell me please? Thanks!
Think it would light and work using like a 20lbs propane tank?
I have been doing jewellery for 30 years and use these evil little buggers now and again and have lost my eyebrows from time to time when they decide to play up ( very often ) what a good idea I will give it a go , thanks .
no es peligroso que la llama retroceda y explote?

Excellent tips, just the video I was looking for. Thank you :)

can i know which liquid use to clean from butane?
so what if you get that hose ripped of, by accident. With huge amount of gas in it and the canister, + flames still turned on.
Link for that torch brand please.
Awesome video
Very nice indeed…. Not seen that one before… just discovered your channel… look forward to enjoying going through your vids…thanks …nick
Very smart idea ,thank you for sharing.alexandria Egypt
Will these torches work with silver solder that melts at 1325 deg. Fahrenheit?
Thank you! My jet die some days ago... Now I know how to fix it! 👍
Is the shut off you use on the butane can something store bought, or repurposed from a propane torch?
So I will cut straight through the back of the pencil tube to insert it into the silicone tube but do I have to remove anything else from inside the pencil tube or that's it
I have one of those but my flame looks like a flamethrower and not a small jet flame. How can I fix this?
Hi, where is i can get that purple jar? What product is it?
Can you lower the flame any lower
Big video, could it work with a bigger tank, used in the kitchen of home (say 15 kg)?
I just got a pencil torch and very much would like to set it up as you did. Im not sure where to find the larger butane bottle and attachment or hose. could you tell me more on this? great video thank you!
Hey can you make a video on how to make a solderig torch tip that can fit on any butane torch or just how to make one period? If its possible i mean thank you
Great video .. very helpful thank you!
And how do you chop the end off? What tool did you use?
What did you do to your left index finger Sir ??? Peace
wow...that solves my problem......thumbs up for you sir.....
This was so useful I just HAD to subscribe!! Would love to know what Chinese outfit you got them from and would also be very obliged if someone could tell me where to get the little vibrating cleaners. Thanks for sharing.Along and happy life to you.
can someone please clarify for me: where exactly is he putting the araldite?
Where can I buy the hose?
How long can this remain lit at a stretch without overheating the nozzle? How long does one charge of gas last when used in a stand-alone torch?
Thank you. Everyone always talks bad about them. I say its user error. I've had mine for years and no problems.
So "everbody" is a fool.? or "everbody" bought crappy products.?
Hello steedcraft. can you tell me where i can buy your wax injector gun? Thanks
What do you say at 2:39? I dont know the words so I'm having trouble recognising what you said so i can google it.
great idea.. thankyou for sharing
Well done presentation, Quin! Easily understood.
Wouldn't it be faster and stronger to solder the neck to the knurled adjuster rather than using epoxy? Or with a small vise grip carefully grip the neck while releasing the lock tight connection to the nozzle?
I think the vise grips would crush the neck in very short order.
Great Video and Ideas! Thank you !
What size silicone tubing did you use?
you'd be better off using a compact propane tank, a regulator valve, some braided vinyl rated @ 200psi, and some ear clamps.

Thanks for explanation!
thank you for sharing, very helpful!
Спасибо за видео, отличная идея!!!
Yes, great vid....instead of using araldite how about just soldering the stem into the adjustment head?
Thank you for sharing this video.
I used a tac to clear the tip as it was not usable without doing so, seems to work fine and the flame has plenty of heat
Thank you, good video now I can fix the one I have as well as a couple different ones I have. Have you ever tried running propane thru any of yours?
hi i cleaned this the other day, and now the torch wont work.as in no blue flame.just fire.., coming through the holes.. as in my big torches too, nothing.no blue flame that i need!!! whats goin on! oooh ok i see i messed it up.using a pin.. great now what do I do? i have the same torch..
Simply genius
Do you have a link for your UC device...Thank you. It looks like something I need.
I got to get me a few of these
What is the one on the valve on and off and what is it for?
got one today. doesnt seem to work.ill try it again and see. thanks. I got it to work. so far ok. but now I see this seems like a lot of work to clean it. maybe u can show what u did to rig it up the other way..thanks!!!
Yo tengo un microtorch y la flama ya no sale fina si no demasiado gruesa ...por favor dígame que le pasó al soplete
Hmm, Idea.I'm not sure what frequency UC cleaners work on, What would happen if you put this in front of a cheap UC Underwater Mist Maker?
where do i get the Host ?
Usa gas butano?
How hot can it get?
I have a question, can I use it with propane gas or only with butane, when removing the seal, is it necessary to remove the sponge inside?
Propane is much higher pressure than Butane. I use Propane in mine because it has a metal body. I just bought an adapter to screw on the propane bottle and fill it just like butane. I think propane is a dirtier fuel so may have to clean the orifice a little more often. Yes, it is normal.
What is the "head" (pipe and valve) from? Is that something particular to the UK?
Adapter for refill or hose adapter for a camp stove that has a shutoff.
K D maybe isopropyl alcohol as he used in the video. also someone else mentioned using compressed air....good luck.
can i know what size are the hoses?
tq.
Thank you for sharing !
Go to a smoke shop because they sell x2-x10 filtered butane cans. I’ve had mine running for about 2 years now with no issues. The more filtered the better….it will be a bit pricey.
Thanks !
Thanks Steedcraft what a wonderful video ...I shall try it 😀
Where i bout th his
get different fuel...i use Vector muti-filtered fuel...and so far i have'nt had any plugs in my mini torch...theres 1 thats been flitered 14x's per the butane label...an its pretty cheap too
Nice thank you
can you Please tell me what hose I can use if you know where on line I can buy one or email to me thank you
thank you
thankyou so much you're brilliant
Excellent, thank you!
You could have used a vice grip to hold the neck instead.
Very good, thank you for sharing. :)
Fantastic!
